First impression of Packaging: I love the effort that limecrime puts into their packaging, I find it to be very fun and creative and attractive. Also the tube is very simple to use.
Colour: I was EXTREMELY impressed with the vibrancy of my Suedeberry, I have been dying to get my hands on this colour for along time so I was over the moon when I saw how bold it was.
Consistency: I was a little bit freaked out at first when I applied it because the formula felt so watery going on, when it dried though.. Holy moly it was gorgeous and a little goes along way!
Availability: Like most makeup products, its a little harder trying to track the velvetines down, unless you buy from overseas or through a seller. It would be nice to see more in store opposed to online in NZ.
Price: A little pricey for students, but great for a splurge!
Last: This lasted all day and I even jumped in the shower with it to see how it handled, it HANDLED!!
Ahhhh the velvetines - I can still remember the hype around these beautiful frosted tubes of colour with the fuchsia pink lid covered in hot pink roses. I really enjoy the shades and I've worn them several times whether it's to the office or a night out. Admittedly I have the more "tame" shades (in comparison to all the other crazy shades in the range) but they're still quite bold.
Red Velvet - a gorgeous blood red
Pink Velvet - a vibrant hot pink
Suede Berry - a coral based strawberry
Wicked - a dirty sangria
There's no room for sheer application with this lot, the opacity of the colours are just incredible - a swipe or two is all you need. One of the things I love about this product is that they don't take long to set so even if I'm in a rush I can quickly put it on knowing it will stay in place.
I love that they don't bleed or feather so I can skip the lip liner if I wanted to. They have fantastic lasting power, I remember the first time I wore it to work I kept checking my mirror to see if I needed to retouch and I did - AFTER 7 hours of wear! The colour stays vibrant for those 7 hours; so it's merely just fading around the edges but nothing blatantly obvious.
This product would have received top marks if it wasn't for the drying aspect. On the first day; there's probably just a bit of dryness on the lips but nothing that a lip conditioner can't fix. However what I noticed is that with consecutive days of use it actually just gets worse despite my best efforts to keep the dryness at bay.
If I know I'm going to wear this product or any drying lip product I always prep my lips the night before by using a lip exfoliator and lip conditioner and I repeat the process after I've removed the velvetine. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely I've gifted these to friends who love it just as much as I do.
My favourite is definitely Red Velvet. Lime Crime products used to be available in NZ however that changed not too long ago and you can only source it officially from the Lime Crime website.
Tips: Exfoliate lips and use lip conditioner before and after use of velvetine.
