I brought this because I had seen so many good reviews about it. I was a little worried that the colour I chose (Utopia - A pretty purple-pink) wouldn't suit me. But I needn't have worried. It is so pretty on me!
It comes in a gorgeous box. I pulled it out and fell in love with the container; which is frosted and just so pretty!
You apply the lippy they way you would a lip gloss. It does feel a little weird applying it for the first time because it is a matte formula. The only way I can describe it is that it feels wet.. yet dry at the same time??? It is super opaque and I only needed one coat/application to cover my lips. I found that it had a lot of staying power... until I started eating (which is, let's face it... to be expected). It wasn't til I went to reapply that I found it didn't really go on my lips well like it did the first time I applied. It kind of made a crust over the lippy that was already on my lips. That was probably my only disappointment with this lippy.
Other than that, it is completely and utterly beautiful!!! I seriously believe Utopia would suit any woman! Even my mum loves it on her lips!
I love the valvetines range! I have four colours which I only wear on special occassions/nights out. The only reason I don't wear this during the day is because of how bold the colour is and seems a bit over the top for a daytime look. They really do dry matte and don't budge at all! Eating, drinking and kissing doesn't seem to affect it, it really clings to your lips! It can feel a bit drying but it's not that bad and I get used to the feeling. I love how vibrant the colours are, although that might be a bit scary for someone who isn't used to such a bold lip. The only reason I haven't given it a 5/5 for recommending it to a friend is because of how strong the colour is. Anther reason is that lot of product comes on the wand and because comes out a liquid, it can be difficult to apply at first. Sometimes I even wipe a little bit off.
Tips: Make sure your lips are completely clean, dry and well exfoliated! Start in the middle of my lips so that when I get to the outline, there isn't as much liquid and it's easier to control. Less is more! I use the Loreal Gentle Eyes + Lips makeup remover to get it off.
