When they were first launched, I was really excited and I ordered a number of different shades. Online shopping has its down sides and it is the shade not matching what I see on the computer screen. Anyways the formula was really nice and creamy, but that wasn’t the case for all of the shades and finishes I’m afraid. And once it has gone past it’s use-by date, the smell goes off and the formula goes weird too.

Tips: Don’t buy heaps at a time unless you can use them up within 6 months or something. Otherwise it will go to waste
Everyone has heard about the colour pop craze, and for good reason! They are affordable, come in an amazing range of colours, and they ship to New Zealand , who would have thought.
These lippie stix (i hate the name.. just saying), come in a plastic cylinder, with a cap that just pops off. The end off the cylinder has a colour edge so you can easily see which colour is which.
The colours i have are westie, bound & Lumiere. Firstly these smell nice and slightly sweet and the colours are gorgeous. As well as colourpop having a great range of colours, they also have an amazing range of finishes. The colours i got are really pigmented, and apply so smoothly giving even coverage. Seriously, the first time i used these i was in awe. However, the product does not wear well, (although using it with the liner does help). But when you have to use a liner with this product, it makes that a $10 usd purchase, for not a whole lot of product.
Overall, these are nice lipsticks, with a great range and a good price tag. They are not long wearing, but for $5 (usd), who can complain.
I bought a few of these after seeing them in countless YouTube videos.
I bought the matching lipliners to match and the colours I bought are Lumiere, Bossy and Leather.
Lumiere is a very '90s brown. Think George Michael video with all the supermodels in it. It's matte, goes on like a dream but I found after a while, it did dry out my lips so had to apply a balm over the top to stop them from feeling so tight.
Bossy is almost a true red. Super luxurious and a killer lipstick to pair with a simple eye and a cat flick. This is also a matte.
Leather is a really rich purple which isn't matte, almost like a satin finish. This was my favourite of the lot. However the matching lip pencil is a few shades darker than the lipstick itself, which I was quite disappointed bout. This doesn't dry my lips out however so that's a bonus.
The colour lasts a while though, which I'm happy about. The pigmentation is ridiculously awesome, a little goes a long way.
Tips: Exfoliate your lips first. Some of these colours are very unforgiving on dry lips.
Colour Pop is a USA brand that delivers some impressive high quality products for drugstore prices. I was hooked and I am as I type this awaiting my 3rd haul from them *cough cough*
Lippie Stix, ahhhh where to start these beautiful lipsticks come in a really unique design that make a gorgeous edition to the vanity in a glass container. The pencil shaped white plastic container with the name of the product and Colourpop logo on it in holographic font just adds to its charm. The bottom of the stix shows the colour and the name of the contents. Popping off the cap you are faced with the barrel showing you again what colour is on the inside. Twist this barrel and the lippie stix comes up. The range includes mattes, sheers, hyper glosses and some collaborations with YouTube stars such as coffeebreakwithdani and KathleenLights. Which is where I first found out about Colourpop and got myself plus a few others kind of addicted to them. What makes them special apart for the price is that they are quality products too!! Out of all the variety I have there is just one matte that doesn't like my lips for some reason but the rest of them are long lasting, non drying, highly pigmented with little rub off but there are not promising to be non transferrable lip products so top ups are nothing especially with the cuteness of these lippie stixs I actually love popping them into my bag and then sitting them on my desk to top up the colour after lunch. The only problem is I end up with 4-6 of them in my handbag by the end of the week because I'm so lazy!!
Currently owned shades:
Frida: (Satin) This is the one colour that I had to have, as it is the collab with coffeebreakwithdani and I love her channel, she is who turned me onto Colourpop so I had to have this colour. Frida is warm brick pink colour that looks different on nearly everyone's lips.
Lumiere: (Matte) This is another collab creation with KathleenLights and this is my favourite colour that I own, its a non drying matte that is another one of those tones that looks different on everyone, its a dusty mauve.
Leather: (Matte) deep intense purple but this is the one that actually does dry my lips out which is odd as its a lovely colour.
LBB: (Matte) Rich ruby plum colour
Pitch: (Matte) Rich dark brown colour
Go Fish: (Hyper Gloss) Orange red that has a soft gloss effect to it but nothing too shiny or sticky its almost a muted gloss
Lady: (Matte) Deep raspberry shade
Ellarie: (Matte) Cranberry red colour.
Some of these lipsticks are easily wearable on their own where as some are a little tricky, mainly the mattes that require a good lip liner to help keep within the lines of your lips, luckily most of the lippie stixs have a matching lip pencil.
The Colourpop lippie stix are great. My favourite go-to colours are Ziggie (which a gorgeous browny red) and Bumble (which is a great nude pink for yellow toned skin). I always get compliments on those two colours.
The pointed tip is great for precision, and it's very creamy and smooth. I like that it doesn't sink into the cracks of my lips. Usually I don't need much touch-up for the rest of the day unless I'm eating some oily or noodly food that gets all over the lipstick.
The only thing is I wish the packaging was slicker than the white plastic, but at that price point it's hard to be mad.
Tips: The Matte X range is especially great! They're so comfortable, but matte and long lasting. They're not infallible, but they last quite a while if you don't eat/drink something oily.
I bought a couple of these on a whim, and liked them so much I now have almost every colour they made. They apply smoothly and last incredibly well throughout the day and whatever I eat. They smell really good too!
Tips: Oil will remove them, so be prepared to reapply after eating anything with oil in it, and give them a minute to set properly before eating or drinking.
I loved the amount of colours I could pick from the website, and the amount of product was more than I was expecting. The last power isnt as great as i would like it to be and the matte can be slightly drying on my lips. I found that they worked just as well without a lip liner which was great, but the smell was not my favourite.
Tips: If you arent a fan of fragrances in makeup be wary of the smell.
Like anyone that watches youtube, I have been curious about these as they have been receiving so much hype. Initially I ignored the hype but started to listen to it when I saw friends talk about how much they liked these. I went on to Colourpop's site and ordered Pitch and their Forget the Fruit Cake set which has 6 lippie stix.
Pitch is a matte, medium brown. This is by far my favourite lippie stick. The colour payoff is good but the wear time isn't. It lasts around 2-3 hours on my lips before needing a serious reapplication. Their mattes aren't super matte as they are very hydrating, so they slide around a bit.
Cookie is a beautiful beige nude Matte. Good pigmentation but the lasting time isn't fantastic.
Confetti is a bright orange red with a glossy finish. This is super comfortable and pigmented but the wear time is again, disappointing. I am lucky to get 2 hours out of this before needing to reapply.
The other shades in the set are as follows (I haven't worn them as I intend to gift these to a friend),
Tuxedo - a super glossy lipstick, is is neon pink.
Cheers is a deep red matte
Tutu is another matte that is a dark, dark red
Lady is a deep raspberry/purple matte.
You may be fooled into thinking that these are great bang for your buck. I was. At only $5US each, these seem like a great price yeah? Well actually they work out quite expensive... You get 1gm of product per lippie, whereas Jordana lipsticks for example have 3.4gms and cost less than these. This may seem nit picky but I like to get the best bang for my buck and I feel that these are a little deceptive. Also the postage costs from the site are - quite frankly, extortionate. If you plan on ordering from here I recommend you either do a large order to make the postage costs worth it, or order with a friend so you can split the costs.
The packaging is kind of ugly in my opinion. These come in a long white tube with the colour at the end. I like that they're colour coded but the long white tube reminds me of old school tampons. Colourpop is on the side of the tube in holographic type which is one thing I like about the packaging.
These twist up and are angled like a lipstick so applying them is super easy. They have lids which is great for hygiene purposes.
Overall I am very much 'meh' about these. When I first got them I thought they looked amazing, and Pitch is a gorgeous colour. But after using them for a while and having explored them a bit more I won't purchase them again and I wouldn't recommend them to a friend. It isn't that they are bad products, I just think that for the price you can get something else just as decent (if not better).
LOVE these!! I can't get enough of the lippie stix! Currently I have 5 shades: Frida, Lumière, Freshman, Sweet-Thing and Frenemie. The different shades they offer come in a variety of finishes too. Some are matte, some satin, glossy, hyper glossy, and recently they added a cream finish. Regardless of the finish, the colors are super pigmented and decently long-wearing. And the formula is creamy and non-drying in the matte shades. The packaging is super cute too. They're tall and skinny like a lip gloss might be but still have the twist up like a regular lipstick. The stick is also thinner so it makes applying to your lips super easy. They have such a great variety of shades for every person and are super affordable at just $5. I could go on forever about how much I love these.
I have bought these in a number of shades and haven't regretted a single one!
I have to point out, I am a fan of ColorPop products - I generally love them. So in trying the lippie stix the first time, I already had great expectations. And this really did meet those. I find they last a decent while, and the range of shades is awesome. I also really love the discreet packaging. But my favourite thing: the lipstick part is smaller than a normal lipstick, so they are great handbag / do-in-the-car lipsticks to minimise mess or mistakes!
Highly recommend - especially for the price!
Tips: A great addition to the handbag or the car!
