I really liked this product from the moment I ripped it from the package to try it! It reminds me of a lip stain because of its surprisingly long wear quality but it is so much easier to apply and has a nice moisturising feeling on my lips. I really love the cute packaging and it is a very convenient size for those smaller evening bags. The gorgeous colour took me straight back in time to my misspent youth without being too much on my now 40 something lips. I opted for a light application during the day and as it says was able to intensify the colour for a night out by applying it a bit more generously.

Tips: My tips for this product are to use it with a lip liner and to definitely use it on those occasions when you are not going to be able to retouch your lipstick as regularly.
The colour of this lipstick (lippy, I suppose, seeing as it's not actually a stick) is brilliant. I'm crazy about it. It's vibrant and it has a blue shimmer and it's really that stand-out vivid purple you've always wanted. It's fairly well pigmented and it stains your lips so it wears quite well. The packaging, like all things Lush, is beautiful - and almost entirely recyclable. It's also, being Lush, totally eco- and animal-friendly, generally ethically produced, all that good stuff that Lush stands for and I love.
Unfortunately, there are some downsides: while being well pigmented, I found the formula quite streaky. This persisted until I had built it up to about three coats (more in some areas of my lips). The formula starts off glossy but dries to be quite chalky, and at this point definitely does not feel hydrating. This could possibly be solved by using lipbalm on a cotton tip over the top of the dried shade, however. I am also really not a fan of the application method: a doe's foot. If that's your thing, great - but it isn't mine, and I found application unnecessarily fiddly.
Overall - a great colour that I am happy to wear when I have a little extra time for fiddling about with the applicator, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy Lush lippy when I can find colour dupes in conventional lipstick form.
Tips: On initial application it's streaky, but keep building colour and this should sort itself out. Alternatively, you could try using a regular lipstick as a base. Keep on hand for reapplication every few hours as it will dry out to be a bit chalky.
Lush's liquid lippy 'Drive' is a showstopper. It's brilliantly coloured, has excellent staying power and is pure fun in a bottle.
I received this product to review and was immediately excited- I love Lush's eco friendly philosophy and adore their body products. This was the first cosmetic product I have tried and while it has some minor teething problems, I am now a fan.
The lippy comes in a small glass vial with a rubber handled applicator. On one hand I like the fact it is glass and recyclable but on the other, I am going to have to be super careful with this in my handbag or on the tiles! The applicator has a nice fine tip, perfect for precision and is long enough to ensure you get right to the bottom of the vial. The formula is thin and pretty odourless but the colour.......WOW. Drive is a stunning fuchsia colour with hints of metallic pink. Very on trend and gorgeous on summery, tanned skin. I found that I needed 2-3 layers to get an even application- it goes on slightly streaky. It dries very quickly and I was pleasantly surprised at how long it stayed on, this baby needs makeup remover to make it disappear! Personally, I found that I needed to top up my lips with a moisturing gloss as my lips were quite dry after about half an hour- I definately did not feel the hydrating qualities advertised! Overall, I am happy with this dramatic lippy and am now very keen to try some of the other, more subtle colours.
Tips: Make sure to exfoliate and prep your lips beforehand and have a balm on hand during the day. If you visit Lush in store, you can spin the colour wheel and receive a personalised colour wheel to reveal a little about your emotional state- fun!
I have been trialling this product for a few days now. I applied a thick layer and found the lipstick colour was vibrant and opaque, there was a lot of shimmery undertones too. When i applied this thinly i found that the staying power was better and the colour was still vibrant but there was no shine which i personally prefer. Overall this is a great colour, definitely not for those that dont like a bright lippy as this packs a punch! great staying power and formula is very creamy and smooth which i love.
Tips: Apply lightly to avoid a shiny finish (if you are like me a hate shiny lipsticks) or apply heavily for an extremely vibrant shiny finish that will definitely make a statement.
I was quite disappointed trying this because I absolutely lovedl the color as purple is my favorite but I just could not pull it off.. I felt it didn't suit my tone of skin.. I felt this was more of a shimmery lip gloss with a purple tinge.. Although with several coats it looked a lot better and more intense.. The smell wasn't that nice but bearable :) .. I would recommend this to someone who likes to experiment with lipsticks.. I'm one for reds nudes etc not really purples blues greens etc.. I think I would prefer this as a go on liquid dry up matte lipstick.
So I was lucky enough to be picked for this trial and get my hands on a lush lipstick in a colour I probably wouldn't have picked for myself....
Can I start with saying how stupidly in love I am with the packaging it reminds me of Alice in wonderlands little "drink me" bottles. With a gorgeous eye dropper top (although this isn't an eye dropper - I just think it looks like that) a little glass bottle you can see the product in and a tiny little tag on the side with some helpful info about your product (like how they do not test on animals) as well as my personal favourite thing about this the how to use info (this had me in stitches) "How to use - Use as face make up". It was funnier than it should have been for me anyway.......
*Cough* moving on...
The colour is this vivid purple with metallic tones through it. It is a blue based purple and it has a gorgeous shimmer through it which you can see when you are wearing it.
It is easily applied with the wand inside the bottle and glides on like a gloss. It feels nice on your lips but sadly it bleeds.... sigh. It is a bit like an oil. It never really dried on my lips which wasn't a bad thing except that it meant it still bleed. So to avoid this problem I treat it like it is a stain. I apply a small amount and then clean the edges and make sure it is going to stay away from my super pale skin ;)
Like I said earlier I wouldn't have picked this colour but it actually looks really good on! I even got compliments wearing it - boom! I am not completely sold on ditching my lipsticks for liquid lipstick (I don't think I am sold on the oil look or feel) but I am happy to make this one a home in a be my collection and keep experimenting with purple lips - the bottle alone would be enough of a reason ;)
Tips: So like I said this is like a stain that is also a gloss combo. So just be careful when you apply it the first time in case you too get the lip bleed. Just apply a smaller amount and stain your lips and you will avoid this problem.
In my ever eternal quest to find my perfect purple lippy I was undeniably drawn to try this one out for myself. So online shopping being my preference with living over an hour away from my nearest Lush store I was armed only with the image of a beautiful shade of purple and the hopes that it would stay purple on my lips.
After it arrived the first thing I did was of course try it on. Next I noticed was how cute the wee vial was and how the top looked like a dropper but it's hard plastic not squeezable. The applicator wand has a soft doe-foot type tip. The lippy applied like a liquid lip product would, smooth and not too runny, it covered well and felt like butter on my skin... that is where the positives end for me.
The taste was a bit too much for me, it did get less noticeable the more I applied it but still not my first pick for a lip product... very earthy and natural/herbal. The colour immediately turn pink on my lips not at all purple looking but like the Beauty Review logo shade of pink which I do seem to have problems with any pink based lippy doing this (even MAC)... So I think the problem is with my lips.
It wears nicely but doesn't stay put and it sits in the lip creases if not taken off properly. It doesn't bleed away from the lips and it has a nice satin finish to it so not highly glossy but not a matte finish by any means.
I found the application to be seamless. Easy application, it glides on. The colour was almost a neon purple. Colour wise it was fun for a bar night out, but it wasn't so much my cup of tea. In my day to day makeup life I play up my eyes/eyebrows, so having such a bold colour lipstick had me changing gears and adjusting that. I loved that it had a sticker on the bottom of it saying who made it and when, thats a personal touch on makeup you don't see everyday. Would I buy this again over a high end brand like Revlon or Maybeline? Nope. I felt like that when it was wearing off, it became a touch flaky and patchy.
I have been a big fan of Lush for a few years now. I love their philosophy and ethic, and they always produce innovative products. Their cosmetic line os no exception. The idea behind this line it is that the colours bring out some sort of emotion or mood. The lipstick in 'Drive' is supposed to evoke a confidence and motivation. The product itself is a pink toned purple. It is a liquid lipstick with a doe foot applicator. The product seems quite small at first but a little goes a long way. The packaging is quirky, it looks like an old medicine bottle with a pipette. It goes on as a smooth liquid that dries matte. It is a vivid and opaque. I like to layer it up slightly for a more intense look. It wears well during the day, providing a more pink toned stain as it wears off. I think you have to have some sort of confidence to wear such a bright colour as it is, so I'm not sure it actually provides you with more. However, I do like the concept and will look further in to the other products in the line.
Tips: You can use this like a cream blush too! Just dab a little on your cheeks and blend in. Also, it's important to scrub your lips to get the best application. Lush also makes great sugar lip shrubs (my personal favourite is Mint Juleps which tastes like mint chocolate - yes you can lick it off your lips after scrubbing; ) ).
