I have been using this mineralise powder for last 5 months and it's just perfect. I use it as setting powder sometimes as well as just go nude with this powder over moisturiser. It's indeed soft and gentle and good for highlighting as well.

A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face.

Don't get me wrong I love this highlighter. But it isn't my everyday one. The MAC mineralize products are some of my favourite products (especially the mineralise skin finish natural). I find this highlighter to be very glittery which isn't what I want for an everyday look. But is great for a going out highlighter for me. I also find in the daylight that it can emphasise my pores a wee bit. This is a product I would advise swatching it a counter before buying.
Tips: Great for changing up a matte blusher.
Another product I brought purely because of reviewers highly recommending it along with vloggers use of it in videos.
Packaging wise this mineralised powder comes in a slightly larger rounded compact that the regular blushes and powders, in it's MAC black tone and easy to use click to open and shut. In the centre of the lid is a domed clear acrylic insert that allows you to see inside at the marbled effect of the powder.
Formula wise this powdery blend of mineralised powders that have been baked into place, giving the champagne, pinks, creams and brown marbled effect that is visible on the surface. It is a dry powder with no hint of creamy effect to it. Applied using a big fluffy brush sees this leave a thin veil of soft shimmery glow to your skin, be more precise with a smaller brush for a more higher impact beam of intensive champagne gold shimmer.
The shimmer comes from the powder itself there is no hint of glitters in the product or on the face after use, it is easily blendable and buildable I can see why this is a firm favourite amongst the makeup community.
For the longest of time I've been lusting over Macs Soft and gentle skin finish, every time I saw people posting with their beautiful highlights it reminded me how much I needed it in my life. It took me a long time to justify the price compared to most of my $10 highlighters, I could buy 8 more! But I was certain to purchase this for my 30th, I wanted to spoil myself and this was on my lust list.
I finally got this baby in my hands and opened the compact, it looks like a marbled bronzed ball pressed into the compact. Swatching this was pure sensation, when you slide it on your skin it glistens in the light. The gold and champagne shades make a really beautiful highlight.
I was disappointed when I tried this on my cheeks, it didn't really show up as well as the swatches did on my hand. My first thought was then to slide my brush into the compact a few times before adding it to my cheeks which was too much, I looked like I had been sitting in the sauna for 10 minutes.
After a few months of testing this product I have learnt to use this. The powder is very very fine, and you have to add a small amount at a time to prevent the sweaty look. It is a beautiful highlight on my cheeks and under my brow bone, then I use the rest that's on my brush to dust my nose lightly. I used to like adding this above my cupids bone until my husband told me I keep sweating under my nose, when it was actually highlight. (Lesson learned)
Since purchasing this product, I use it less than what I imagined I would, but it is one of my favorite highlights, I don't know if I would repurchase this again.
Tips: Start with a light hand and add more as you need to, once you add too much its hard to remove and you can look '"sweaty" as my husband calls it.
Soft and gentle is a powder highlight which comes in its own makeup compact. It is a large pan which holds 10 grams, but no mirror. The powder has a marbled effect in a gold champagne tone which would suit most skin tones.
It leaves a beautiful golden glow to your skin with fine gold glitter flecks. If your wearing your makeup from morning through night you would likely need to re apply in the afternoon.
Being part of the mineralize skinfinsh range It is smooth, silky and made in Italy giving It a luxurious feel.
It is really quite beautiful, world renouned and popular. I personally would just perfer if it was without the fine gold glitters.
Tips: A fan brush is designed for the application of highlight, however I like to use my finger to stop those fine gold glitters from ending up on other areas on my face.
Even with NZ prices, I feel this product is good value for money as it lasts forever! I haven't even made a dent on the surface. Overall, Soft and Gentle is a slightly peachy, shimmery highlighter, though I believe it can be foiled for a more metallic highlight. It lasts pretty well on my face (about 6 to 8 hours).
It is also a multi-use product. On days when I don't feel like using eyeshadow I just swipe a little over my eyelids for some shine.
The only downside is that the glitter is a bit chunky and not as smooth of a gleam as say, Mary Lou Manizer by The Balm.
Tips: 1. Use a fan brush with a light hand as this highlighter is fairly pigmented. 2. Can be used as an eyeshadow or browbone highlight.
Really versatile hightlighter. Can be used with a light hand for a natural soft glow or can be built up for a more dramatic night time glow. I use this as eyeshadow and inner corner highlight and looks beautiful. Would recommend for lighter to medium skin tones.
Tips: Would recommend using this with a small face brush or fan brush
I am conflicted on this highlighter. Yes, it is very pretty. Yes, it is a nice quality. But is it actually worth it?? I brought mine from MAC USA site direct, so I didn't pay the inflated price NZ sells it for which I'm thankful for. It's not really something I haven't seen before and is along the same level as Mary Lou Manizer and Stila Duo All Over Shimmer. It's no better quality or standard to those products in my opinion.... So not very life changing for me unfortunately BUT it is still very nice and gives a beautiful highlight... Just like the other mentioned highlighters do! It is quite shimmery so you need to be light handed.
I think if your a huge MAC fan and want a nice quality highlighter in your collection then this is great. I'm just jaded as I seem to have a collection of similar products building up! But if your on a hunt for a good highlighter then this is probably worth a try if you can afford it. It will last you a long time so you get a lot of use for your money.
This is a gorgeous peach champagne highlighter with a frosted sheen and fine shimmers. I generally don't mind fine shimmers but this product has A LOT of it and if you're from the chocolate club it'll be more evident on our skin tones. In the pan and under natural lighting it doesn't look like it has a lot of shimmer but shine your phone torch on it (yes I know judge me later haha) and voila c'est disco ball.
Once your makeup starts to fade along with the frosted sheen from the highlighter guess what will still be there? The shimmer. Don't get me wrong I really like this product but it's not anything too different to the bajillions of highlighters that are out there that we haven't seen already.
What makes me happy to have it in my collection is that it has a finely milled texture which helps the highlighter glide on smoothly and leaves you with a beautiful glow (if applied with care) where you can't really pinpoint what is it that's making that person glow (until you see the shimmer). It's stunning but I have to show restraint when applying it. With highlighters I love to apply them on my cheeks as well however this highlighter is strictly for cheekbones and nothing more (FOR ME) - for a highlight lover that is NOT cool.
The frosted sheen begins to fade by the 5th hour so I tend to be left with more shimmer than highlight but to manage that I layer it over another highlight with a richer champagne colour (i.e. Laura Mercier in Indiscretion). The shimmer transfers so just be mindful to keep your hands away from your face. Would I recommend this highlighter hmmmmm yes but it wouldn't be my first option - with this highlighter I think application is key.
Tips: I use a flat top kabuki brush to lay down my first highlight (i.e. Laura Mercier in Indiscretion) and then go with a fan brush and "dust" on Soft and Gentle on my cheekbones.
Unless you have a good brush it can be a bit difficult to apply, however its a great highlighter. When I don't want to use a bronzer it blend well with my blush, I think also the price is a bit high for this product. But currently I have been using it for over 3 month most days and it hasn't even touched the pan!
