I have only just discovered this product recently. I had never heard of this before and didn't know what it was for. I went into a MAC shop overseas and they applied it before the foundation and it left my skin with a totally different feel to it than just applying foundation by itself. It left my skin feeling silky smooth, felt really nice. I found it easier to apply foundation over this. the bottle seems to last forever as you only need one squirt and that is enough to cover the whole face. I will definitely be buying more (if this bottle ever runs out).

My mum actually buys this regularly and so I thought I would try it out. It's beautiful! The shimmers in it are stunning :) though not eveyone will enjoy the sparkles it is a great illuminting primer. Makes my makeup stay on well and skin look soft and even. It's pretty pricy however a little does go a long way! I couldn't use this everyday - primers give me acne. Special occasions however is fine. The bottle is really pretty and glittery too!
The packaging is your general sleek black MAC look, but slightly glittery which gives a hint to the contents. This was my first primer so the consistency freaked me out a little, with it being slightly greasy-but don't be scared ladies! This is how it's supposed to be! It's white with little speckles of glitter which you can't see one applied so again- don't be scared! 1-2 pumps gives me good face coverage. Then follow with your foundation. You'll find your foundation glides on over top and looks miles better than without a primer, smaller pores and a bit of a dewy set. It lasts as long as your foundation is on. I find I really only use it for special occasions because a bottle runs for over $50, and I'm generally not a big spender on high end products. I do love my look when I wear this product and would recommend it for anyone looking to improve their general look.
Tips: Not a necessity but a nice product to have
This was my first ever primer I bought and I haven't found one as good since. I haven't tried another high end primer though as they are just too expensive for me, so have to stick with drugstore now.
I use 1 pump for my entire face. It glides on like a dream, moisturising and smoothing. My skin feels like velvet after application and makes my foundation apply flawlessly.
It helps my foundation last longer which is one of the main reasons I buy a primer (I do not like to powder my face at all).
I only have two complaints. 1. The price. It is sooo expensive I have never bought it again even though I loved it! 2. Although I like the look of the sleek packaging, the bottle is not see through so you cant tell how much you have left.
I have tried a couple of primers, and I have another one on the way to try soon! However the MAC Prep and Prime is definitely my favourite, the slight illumination provided is really handy when you aren't a pro at highlighting.
I often wear the primer with just a light layer of powder foundation over the top when I am in a rush, or not wanting to wear much make up due to either running out of time to put it on or general laziness. It makes the product stay beautifully and is great for evening out skin tone even though it isn't a true 'colour correcting' primer.
It is quite expensive, however 1-1.5 pumps provides ample coverage and if you know you are going to use it regularly then you can pick it up in the occasional sale.
I love MAC products. The first brand that really caters to all skin tones. Naturally trusting the brand already I brought this prep+prime. It's a bit pricey. I use it only for outings. It definitly does what it's supposed to do and "keeps your face on" when your out & about. due to the price I don't think I would purchase it again as I've found other primers more in my price range doing the same thing.
Tips: Apply thinly and let it dry before applying makeup.
For the price you pay, I would expect a great primer that holds make up all day. As a flight attendant I'm constantly projecting n image and half on half off make up isn't the image I want to project. It worked well up to a point and then I feel like I'm constantly having to touch up, which I rarely have time for on flights. I prefer E.L.F. for satin finish and how amazing it makes my skin look.
I don't usually buy Mac makeup as I find it to be a bit pricey for me but I just went on a trip to South Africa and went a bit nuts at the Mac store there! This prep and prime leaves your skin feeling so nice and makes foundation application a breeze!! It really does make your face stay on all day!
I don't own my own mac prep and prime face but my friend does and every time i get ready with her I feel as if its a a step I can't miss out. I feel as if My foundation just has a more flawless finish and looks a lot better after using this product. Need to get on to buying my own, if anyone knows a cheaper version (dupe) of this please recommend i find that mac products can be overpriced but I guess you have to pay money if you want good products.
This is a great face primer, it just does what it is suppose to do! It makes my face feel so smooth after application, and really makes a difference to the finish of my foundation.
It is a white colored primer with a slight amount of shimmer, that doesn't leave any color on the face. It is moisturizing, which I love because I have normal to dry skin and the shimmer adds a very small amount of dewiness to my face. A little bit of this product goes along way, and on most days if I have moisturized I will only need one pump, so a bottle of this will last you a while. I think a good primer is worth the price as it improves the look and lasting power of any foundation.
