I had only ever used one primer before and it was quite moisturising so naturally I didn't like it because of my oily skin but I was recommended to try this one as it counters the oil more and helps to hold the foundation in place. It definitely helps your foundation last longer throughout the day and I love the texture it gives my skin. My only criticism is the price. When you are spending $80 on a foundation and $60 on a primer, it all adds up. I guess there is no magic bullet to perfection... I think I would probably not use it everyday because it seems a bit excessive but definitely worth while when you have an event like a wedding or whatever. I will say that the bottle does last a while, its not like its tiny.

When I recently did a MAC order they offered me a free sample and I chose this. Having not tried any of MACs primers, I wasn't too sure what to expect. Because it was free I wasn't too worried if I didn't like it.
This has no scent and is a thick white cream. Once you blend it into your skin you can see small reflects - not glitter but little sparkles. At first I was massively put off by this... Until I applied foundation over the top of it.
Once my foundation was on, this made my face look radiant and healthy. The shimmers aren't really apparent - they add more of a glow than a shimmer once you have foundation over the top of this. If you don't like a glow then I wouldn't recommend this. However, if you're like me and are all about Dewey skin then I recommend you try it.
Because the cream is thick it is really hydrating and feels soothing on my dry skin. This helps make my makeup last longer and, more importantly, go on smoother. It also helps reduce the redness in my skin a little bit.
Overall I really like this primer and will be purchasing a full size when I am in the States later this year. A little goes a really long way so even though it's pricey, I think it's worth it.
I hadn't used a primer for quite a while so I would sometimes forget to put it on. I can definitely tell the difference if I have forgotten. My foundation just doesn't last as long and neither does it look 'finished' off. I wouldn't say it has glitter as others have commented but more of a shimmer which I don't mind at all as I can't really see it once my foundation is on. I don't need much at all - only 1 1/2 pumps to cover all my face. I also like the slight scent and it does make my skin feel nice. Definitely continue to use it.
I don't usually buy Mac makeup as I find it to be a bit pricey for me but I just went on a trip to South Africa and went a bit nuts at the Mac store there! This prep and prime leaves your skin feeling so nice and makes foundation application a breeze!! It really does make your face stay on all day!
Smooths skin amazingly, allowing for foundation to glide on over the primed skin effortlessly. Small glitter specks in the primer make for a glowy foundation look. It is a little pricey for the amount so I tend to use it more on special occasions or nights out rather then everyday.
I am a MAC fanatic, and therefore seemed fitting that I purchase a MAC primer when my previous one ran out. The product is in a neat black container and looks simple and effective. It has a lot of product in it, and has so far lasted me 6 months. When applied the primer goes on smoothly, it is a thicker texture then I have used in the past, but I feel like this helps with the hit of hydration that it gives. I soaks in quickly and sits well, leaving my skin velvety and shimmery. Im not sure how effective it is for helping my makeup last, but I think it lays a great base for my foundation to be applied!
I had heard so much about this primer, and a lot of MUA's seemed to recommend it so I was dying to get my hands on at least one bottle. Just to try and it see what it was like for myself.
It comes in an opaque black cylinder and uses a pump to dispense product (which if you stalk my profile- you would know this is my favourite design). Although the black packaging is nice to look at, and is stylish and sophisticated, it’s a real pain to tell how much product is left in the container which I find so frustrating.
The primer itself is white, and almost looks like a moisturizer in regards to consistency. I find a little goes a long way and 1 pump is normally enough to cover my face, but 1-1/2 is what I normally use.
This applies really nicely on my skin, and is easy to smooth over my face. I find this is not a heavy silicon based primer (which is good because I am definitely not a fan of those sorts of primers). However, I feel like this has the tiniest aspect of that because it creates a lovely smooth canvas for my makeup to go onto.
Honestly, the first few times I used this I did not think it made my makeup last longer, but depending on what foundation I use this with, my makeup does actually wear better and doesn't fade so quickly which is great.
Overall, I do like using this primer because of how it works with certain foundations and the way it makes my skin look, but it’s not my favourite primer out there.
When I first used a sample I couldn't believe how different my make up looked. My skin looked so good and I really wanted to get the full size. It was $100 though so I hesitated for a while, but finally managed to get one at duty free. I haven't experienced the same wow factor as i did with the sample (maybe I got used to it) but it's still very moisturising and I got comments that my skin looks radiant. Because of the price point though I may be on the lookout for good primers that are more affordable.
I used this as instructions said to. Had a silicone feel and was easy to spread over entire face with fingers. I ised 2-3 pumps for the entire face. I noticed a small difference with staying and lasting power of my my foundation and powders on top, having the silicone base helped the prodcuts to go on easier. Product packaging is easy to use and the pump pumps out a good even amount each time. Has a mild scent. Pricey for what you get and how well the product works. Will not re purchase as i think there are other better and cheaper options but it did do a great job at what it is made for. still a really good primer.
MAC's Prep and Prime was one of the first primer's I ever used, and to this day still remains one of my favourites. Why?
The main reason for me is the formula. It's the perfect consistency for a lotion-style primer, similar to a moisturiser. It also looked and smelled like a moisturiser, with a slight glitter through it which initially I was hesitant about but I didn't find that it had much of an effect on my skin once I had applied my makeup.
This primer absorbed really easily into my skin and really just felt like an everyday moisturiser, which was nice as it didn't feel like it was blocking my pores. Despite has ordainary it appeared, it had superpowers when it came to making my liquid foundation last upon my skin which is oily and tends to play up easily in summer. This helped my makeup cling in place without slipping or going patchy.
The only thing I didn't like, and which I marked down on, was the price! Being a MAC product it is a bit pricey especially for the amount you receive and I prime every time I wear makeup so unfortunately my primers don't tend to last exceptionally long. In saying that I'd still happily repurchase and recommend as I think it's a fantastic product.
