The bucket sale came to town, and out the back door went my no spend. This is one of the items that has been on my wishlist for a long time and when I saw it at such a cheap price I couldn't go past it. I picked it up in Pomegranate Punk which is a really nice dark reddened pink that I thought would by nice for some more sort of grungey looks (but as I'll explain it is actually still quite natural).
The packaging is remarkably similar to my Chanel cream eyeshadow. A glass bottom and a black plastic lid. Nice simple packaging that does the job. I love that the lid is flat so you can store it upside down and still see the shade when you are storing it. Also the top of the glass part has a nice wide opening so it is easy to get the product out with a finger.
The product itself isn't as pigmented as I expected. If it was a high-end product I would be super disapointed. But at the same time that is actually quite a nice thing with this shade. If I use it quite sheerly across the lid it is just a slight wash of a pinky shade, it blends like a dream. But then it is quite buildable so in the outer corners I was able to build up the colour quite nicely. The colour on my eyes comes out as a sort of dark brown with a touch of purpley/red almost. Much different than what I expected from the name. With application of cream shadows I always prefer to use my finger for them rather than a brush, just as your finger warms the product up so it blends nicely. It isn't as creamy as a high end version but it still does the job.
With the wear time I would advise not using these by themselves. It is much better to use with a primer underneath and a powder eyeshadow on top. By itself it does crease on me by the end of the day. With a primer and eyeshadow they do last a full day on me.
I am really impressed with these for the price. I would definitely recommend these to a friend starting out with makeup as they are so easy to use.
I have 4 of these and enjoy them a lot. They are great as a base and even by themselves. They have a great texture and highly pigments. The colours come off better if you use a finger rather than a brush. They don't crease if I use them by themselves and they last all day. They can be quite hard to come off but with a good make up remover they can be removed.
