I currently use what I consider to be my holy grail mascara so when I was asked to try this I didn't think I would enjoy it, however I was pleasantly surprised. The formula stayed on my lashes and didn't transfer to the surrounding skin which is a problem I often have with mascaras. I really like that there are different wands for both top and bottom lashes. This really delivered on what it said it would do in that my eyes seemed bigger and more open having used a bottom lash wand as well as a top one.

Tips: Use the bottom lash wand! It really makes the difference.
This mascara certainly gives the appearance of bigger eyes. The wand for upper lashes is nice though I find I either get a perfect application or a little clumpy though I'm sure this will improve as it becomes slightly emptier and the wand isn't collecting as much product. The small wand for lower lashes is fantastic, it lengthens and separates and never clumps. This mascara washes off easily with my normal face wash which I didn't expect-but love as I don't like having to buy makeup remover. Overall I like this mascara and will continue to use it. If you like long thick eyeopening lashes this is the one for you. I find I only need one coat too.
Oh so excited to do this battle of the brands "mascara" I do wear it nearly every day, I feel better when I have some on.
Packaging is loaded with heaps of information quite appealing, the mascara is double ended, a brush for the upper lashes to lift them up and curl. A nice full brush for the top lashes with a purple end, the lower lash brush has a black end and a small brush it did grab the lower lashes and coat them quite easy. I love the double brush ends. If I buy the wands I end up putting them down and they get fluff all over them so having them in the mascara tube ready to go is great.
Blackest of black, big eyes, the falsies, eye popping, volum'express, no flaking clumping or smearing. Yes it all sounds absolutely fantastic. Roll on big eyes:)
Nice and easy to use I found two coats is enough for me for during the day. Not clumpy at first but after a couple of days use a little bit blobby but I am really looking hard at my eyelashes, I wouldn't say wow, not the big wide doe eyed look for me, but coated my lashes nicely not sparse like my lashes are individual (I would say a cross between feathery and spiders legs) so good cover not great but it did ok, it did tend to need a we wriggle of the brush more so than I normally do to stop the lashes clumping together, they weren't any longer but yes did add a bit of volume to my lashes, not a wide eyed false lash affect but they were slightly fuller. It does lift the lashes up a bit like you use a curler so you do get quite a open eye. I use a serum so I do have good lashes, they are long enough to tickle my reading glasses. It did dry quite quickly and doing an extra coat later in the day (going day to evening) was not easy to apply more on top they were sort of hard, the brush didn't want to glide through them and I do tend to wear more mascara when I need "made up eyes". As I go from a boys job to a very girlie job I do change my make up during the day and don't have time to take it all off and start afresh so I'm used to redoing.
I had one day that I put my usual mascara on and I didn't have as a full eyelash look. So maybe the odd we blob is ok adds to the fullness.
No smudging or flaking and that was at a gym session. Did get smudgy at the spa pool buts it's not waterproof and that's a big ask. I had a bit of a cold and quite a few snezzes it did smudge then as well. Caused no irritation and the small eyelash brush is very good it did get the we lashes very nicely. When it came time to remove it it came of very easy with my usual eye makeup remover.
A couple of people have asked what mascara I'm using, so it must look good.
So yes I would have to say overall I'm quite impressed with it, I do like it, it's surprised me I really didn't think I would like it. It's not one I would have readily brought, It's not a expensive mascara so I would have to say yes it's value for money.
I wear mascara every day and tend to stick with the same brand so this was awesome to trial a product I had never used before. I really like the bold purple cylinder & duel wand, especially the smaller one, it worked well at coating all the small finer hairs especially on the lower lashes. The larger brush is somewhat clumsy and too rounded, you end up getting mascara on your eyelid, it just seems bulky and hard to use. I felt a bit cock handed when the mascara pot removed from the middle, being right handed I needed to change over and put the macara wand in my right hand, just seemed a bit of a time waster and more effective if the brush was on the outer that pulled out (Hope that whole sentence makes sense!) However I found the liquid a little too wet & clumpy and because of this it felt like it took double the time to put the mascara on for it to look really bold. When I think of false lashes, I think of bold full long lashes but I didn't get that with this product, the more I put on, the clumpier and flakier it became. I found this mascara irritated my eyes, had blood shot eyes after using it. I was disappointed by the end of the day, it was a smudgy and had rubbed off under my lower lash and most probably looked like I had panda eyes. So I probably wouldn't purchase this product, I was very hopeful because I love the look of big false lashes but this product didn’t deliver and just left me with sore irritated eyes.
Tips: Don't be in a rush when using this mascara, it takes time to apply! And have some make up remover at the ready :(
I always have the problem of mascara getting on my skin if I try to apply it to my lower lashes...until now! The smaller wand on this applies mascara nicely to my lower lashes without any smudging onto my skin, and it doesn't look spidery or clumpy at all. I always apply two coats, and it lasts really well for a whole day.
Tips: The formula can be a bit wet, so bear that in mind when applying it - but once it dries it won't stay put.
I have always been a bit of a noob with mascara so I was super excited to give this a go after winning it from Maybelline. I could't believe how easily it applied without making a huge mess like my last mascara! It really does give my lashes heaps more volume and length without clumping together. It's also super handy that it has a wand for both top and bottom lashes! My only issue's are that it tends to start flaking off a little by the end of the day, and after a few uses the product started to come out a bit clumpy. Aside from that I love this mascara and will continue to use it, its a million times better than my Great Lashes one.
Tips: I tend to wipe the brush off a little as I open it because the product seems to have gone a bit clumpy after a few uses.
Absolutely love love this mascara!! Very black and such a nice formula to use. Awesome that it is two in one as well, makes it a lot easier to put mascara on the lower lashes without smudging.
Only downfall for me was the length of the wand, but now I have gotten used to it it's fine
Never having tried a Maybelline product before, on purchasing this product, I was a bit reluctant. (especially because of the price)
I was really disappointed when I used it, my lashes clumped together almost immediately so I had to separate them with a spare brush. The curve on the brush really annoyed me. Also at the end of the night, it fell into my eyes and irritated them, causing them to water. I will continue to use the product until its finished because I want to get my moneys worth but I may just stick to Revlon from now on.
I usually get Maybelline Mascaras as I find they are a good price and I usually get a good enough product. I bought this mascara due to the current promotion at Farmers where I also got a free eyeliner (which was terrible also and smudged like crazy). I liked this mascara in that it had the different ends. One for your top lashes, and one for your bottom. My problem is that it doesn't coat either lashes well. I found the brush for the bottom lashes quite good. But the brush for the top lashes quite sparse so it doesn't get a good coating. I also found the formula quite dry and neither of the brushes were well coated when I bought this mascara. It did last all day however and didn't smudge. I personally won't be purchasing this mascara again. Even Maybelline do better mascaras.
When I found out that I was going to be reviewing this mascara I was so excited! I absolutely love Maybelline mascaras (well most of them anyway) - they're reliable and affordable and have a great reputation.
I have never been a fan of dual ended mascaras as one end is usually a primer and I don't want to waste time with that. I want to get the mascara on my lashes and get out the door! Thankfully this dual ended mascara was NOT a primer! One side is a normal sized brush and the other side is a wee baby brush for the lower lashes. This was the part I was most excited about as my one of my favourite mascaras of all time is the Maybelline Lash Discovery (teeny baby brush mascara) which was taken out of NewZealand years ago.
The packaging for this mascara is pretty standard for Maybelline. Nothing too fancy or exciting. The main bigger brush is very typical of a standard mascara, it tapers at the tip and is fatter in the middle. The smaller brush is awesome and again very standard.
Now for the formula! It's not an overly wet mascara nor is it overly dry. It's just in the middle, pretty standard! (This review is probably going to feature the word standard quite a bit).
The main bigger brush applies easily, it's not too messy although it can transfer onto the lid very easily and it doesn't dry very fast. The smaller brush is amazing and it's so much easier to apply the mascara onto the bottom lashes with this!
Now here is where it gets pretty average and underwhelming. This mascara does NOTHING to my lashes. It doesn't add volume, it doesn't add length, it doesn't add volume and it certainly doesn't make them any bigger as the name of the mascara would imply.
It also flakes. Badly! I looked in the mirror this afternoon after wearing it for a couple of hours and I looked like a panda with dandruff! I had black flakes under my eyes and had to take my make up off.
I'm not sure why this happened today as this was the 3rd time trying the mascara but the point is it did. I really really wanted to love this mascara especially since it has a mini brush that I love so much! The formula disappointed me so much though!
Tips: If you just want to add some mascara for a "no makeup" look then this one might work for you! Just keep an eye out for flaking. Hehe... eye out.
