When I started using make up this was my first one I used. The brush is small and it doesn't give you much volume. But if your looking for a subtle look this is a good one to use. Or you have small eyelashes. It seemed to become clumpy quicker than the other Maybelline mascaras I've used. It did the job but I wouldn't buy it again.

I had such high hopes, after hearing opinions on this product - that it was one of the classics, stood the test of time, etc etc. So in a supermarket emergency dash one day, I selected this out of the many options available, remembering that my flatmate swore by it.
I just can't see why this has cult status; maybe I got a dud tube, because it just didn't seem to set and I ended up with flecks of mascara under my eyebrows, from my natural curl. The mascara applies smoothly, but doesn't volumise, just darkens. The brush is small, so takes ages to apply to long lashes; was kind of handy to use on bottom lashes, but even that smudged off onto my bottom lid throughout the day.
One good thing, is it's easy as anything to take off, just cleanser did the trick. Bad side of that is, it seemed to come off my lashes at the drop of a hat. Don't even get me started on what happened when I wore it to gym and sweated like crazy. Panda express.
Another Maybelline product I bought because I clearly watch and trust YouTube far too much :(
As mentioned before I'm really not into Maybelline products as the formulas seem to look rubbish on me and this mascara is sadly no exception.
I find neither the wand or formula does anything for my lashes and it looks like I dont really have anything on when I'm wearing it as all it does is darken my lashes. I find it near impossible to build this product in order to create volume and length and all the wand does it hurt my lashes.
I bought the mascara recently and have thrown it away as I have no desire to use it again not even on my lower lashes.
Tips: More than 10 years ago I remember my mum using this product therefore I gave it a try and hated it way back then fast forward to now I thought that maybe the formula had changed but no its still that same yucky mascara I remember all those years ago :(
I have this mascara in both blackest black, and clear. It is a classic mascara and I think it may have been one of the first mascaras that I ever tried. I picked up the blackest black from Farmers and I thought with something this popular it had to be great. The clear version I got my parents to pick this up for me in the States as I really wanted to try it for my brows.
The bottle is extremely classic. The bottom square part that is light pink, and the green top. I love green and pink together. The bottom of the clear one is transparent so there is no mixing them up (which could save some terribly embarrassing moments). The brush is pretty simple. Just a small natural bristle brush in a spinning pattern. It is quite small so it makes it easy to get to the inner most lashes and the bottom lashes.
I find the formulation of the mascara quite wet. This coats my lashes quite nicely, but really it doesn't do much else. It doesn't add any volume at all, it does lengthen. But that is about it. Mostly it just coats the lashes, making them extra black and a wee bit thicker. It also smudged under my lashes which is annoying, but I could solve this problem by getting the waterproof version. I do get my lashes tinted monthly so I feel like this mascara doesn't do much more than getting my lashes tinted.
I like the clear version for my brows. The brush does keep quite a lot of product on it though so it is good to take that off before applying to the brows. It does keep my brows in the position that I want but also leaves them a wee bit crunchy. I like though that the product seems to last a long time, I have heaps left in my tube and I have used it quite a lot. Obviously a design flaw is the clear bottom of the tube means that you see the clear gel get a bit murky from whatever brow powder you have been using. But that doesn't bother me.
Personally I think Maybelline do some other great mascaras for a really reasonable price, this isn't one of them. If you are after a natural lash look just get your lashes tinted then you won't even have to do them each day.
I wasn't a huge fan of this product because it clumped my eyelashes together and didn't really give me any length or volume. I don't really understand the hype because the results were not there for me. I have found far better Maybelline mascaras that I would prefer to use.
Tips: Use spoolie on your lashes after you apply
This applies nicely and looks nice. The one thing I didn't like was how much it smudges up onto the top of your eyelids. I saw it in the mirror at work and was so embarrassed! I threw it out and brought a different brand.
This mascara fills the basic mascara requirements, being that is changes the colour of your eyelashes. I like it for every day use as it's fairly natural looking and I can wear it without any other makeup without looking silly. The first few times I used it I was using a much richer face cream and it seemed to flake off at the ends, which was weird, but I've since changed face lotions and the problem has disappeared. Next time I buy mascara I'll try something else as it rubs off around my eyes a bit. All in all, it's not the best, it's ok.
I've used this mascara myself and found that it doesn't really make a huge difference to the eyelashes (so I presume too thin?) and after a month or so any subsequent uses give rise to clumps, at which point I just tossed it out. Disappointing as Maybelline often makes great mascaras but oh well. The price range is attractive!
Tips: It's cheap but not amazing. Try Maybelline Falsies Flared or any of the Volume Express range which I also reviewed.
I used this a while back, and really actually disliked it. Never made much difference to my eyelashes at all, and was a bit clumpy as well. I would take Maybelline Define a Lash over this product any day....for more naturally longer looking eyelashes with no clumps. This product did work for a couple of my mates though, who swear by it...you get what you pay for I guess?
I tried this when it was purchased for me as a gift.
I was terribly impressed. I naturally have quite thick, long lashes and i felt that this mascara was quite watery and tended to make my lashes look gluggy and short, whereas other mascara's would make them thick, have volume and long.
The pink packaging is cute and appealing. Only a very thin layer is required, otherwise you'll end up having weighed down lashes, you almost have to wipe the sides of the applicator brush to wipe the clumps off before applying.
I wouldn't purchase this mascara for myself after trying it.
