Ok so I jumped straight in to using this, because it's a powder foundation, so what could be complicated about that, right? Well it just didn't work. Using the sponge moved product around but nothing settled and using a brush just didn't work.
I thought back to ye olden days of pancake makeup and decided to wet the sponge. GAMECHANGER!
When applied using a damp sponge this becomes the medium-to-full coverage foundation it is meant to be. It blends, it buffs, it covers. The finish is beautifully matte, not flat matte. And by golly gosh does it stick. This is sweat and transfer proof.
So in short - great and easy buildable coverage that comes in a handy powder form. Just remember to WET IT!
I usually use a liquid foundation and have been regularly horrified looking in the mirror at the end of the work day to find my foundation has slid off parts of my face and is super patchy. I’ve tried swapping out my setting spray, primer and moisturiser, but it’s time I admitted the problem comes down to the foundation.
It was easy enough to choose the right Maybelline Superstay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation colour for me from swatches online. It comes in a cute white compact with a small sponge conveniently included in the bottom of the packaging which is also sturdy enough to keep the product safely enclosed in my makeup bag.
I’ve been applying the Maybelline Superstay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation using the included sponge after applying concealer (another Maybelline Superstay product!) where it’s needed. It builds so well that I was initially concerned it looked a bit powdery and ghost-like, and I’m not used to seeing my pores! But looking in the mirror later with the day I was happy with the approach, and it lasted! I was just left with a few missing patches around my nose where my glasses sit.
If you still prefer a liquid foundation, the Maybelline Superstay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation works really well as a setting powder which makes everything stay where I apply it.
