Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation Review

I've been using this for over a month now and I'm not completely sold on it yet, nor has it "improved my skin" like it states it will. I still don't like liquid foundation as they're too heavy for me, but thought I'd give it a try since I won this from BR (thanks!!). I used the shade Sand which blends nicely with my olive skin tone and it's wonderful that they have such a wide range to suit so many people.. It's more like a cross between BB cream and a foundation - it's not too gluggy but not too light, and I have to admit it felt lovely and smooth and soft on my skin and when first applied it looked very even and flawless. It did last all day, however I'd get home from work and look closey and see it's formed into cakey patches over the day and looked terrible. I've tried wearing it on its' own, with mineral powder over top, with highlighter powder over top, and with setting spray and it caked every time so it's possibly how it sits on my combination skin. I did apply it with my fingertips.. Maybe if I got a foundation brush it may sit better, I'm not sure. It has a great wee container - very handy to sit on my cosmetics table with a simple pump to get it out, no annoying squeezy bottle, but I wonder how it would travel since the pump doesn't have an option to lock it, so when traveling, it could potentially make a mess in your cosmetics bag. I like that is has all the good stuff in it for your skin (vitamins, spf 20, actyl C) and no nasties (perfumes etc) so this is always a seller for me.. I think I'm a bit anti because I just don't like foundations, but as far as liquid foundations go it is great!

After all the hype about this foundation on here (that and the foundation giveaways BR and Maybelline had) I just had to go out and buy it, and I am so glad I did.

I picked this up from countdown when they had the 30% off beauty sale (if I remember correctly) and it only cost me about 20ish dollars, which is obviously a bargain that I couldn't resist.... Not that I can resist any bargains anyway lol....

I have been using this so much lately and I am really loving it. I apply a moisturiser first, and then my primer (I find it works incredibly well with the e.l.f tone adjusting primer) and then I just apply it with my fingers.

It looks so lovely on. It's not heavy or cakey and it doesn't stick to my dry patches (although I am careful and add a bit more moisturiser to those areas).

With just one layer of foundation, it leaves my skin looking healthy with that subtle 'no makeup, makeup look, and I absolutely love it. Of course that changes once you add your blush and bronzer etc but you could very easily pull off this no makeup look for an everyday makeup look.

I haven't noticed any breakouts or skin imperfections since using this foundation (apart from the ones that I just seem to be prone to) so that is definitely a huge bonus. It's really easy to remove, I use the skinfood cleanser and it takes it off really well. That could quite possibly be frowned upon but I have just recently switched back to my skinfood cleanser as the Neutrogena makeup remover just didn't agree with my skin, so my skin is obviously happy with my regular routine :)

I have noticed that there is an added shine mainly to my forehead when I get hot, but it doesn't get oily so that's great. I just either add a bit of powder or gently dab it with a tissue and the shine almost disappears completely, and wait for it...... There's never any transfer on the tissue. Usually when you have to do this your foundations smudges or transfers, not this bad boy ;) How amazing is that?

I am so in love with this foundation atm, I reach for it way more than any of my other foundations. It hasn't made my skin look healthier as such, but when I do have this foundation on, my skin looks great and would appear to look healthier, so I am definitely more than happy with that. I would definitely repurchase!!

After reading a few reviews I decided to buy this foundation and give it a try. I often find foundations to heavy on my face but this foundation is great. It was easy to match it with my skin tone and it just blends into my skin. It feels really light and it evens out my skin as well. I wouldnt say it made my skin better but it doesnt clock up my pores so thats a big improvement to me. I will stick with this foundation for sure. Thanks Maybelline!

This is my new fave holy grail foundation. Since using this my skin has improved and its the perfect summer foundation for me.

I love how light this foundation is. Its perfect for the warmer months and it easy to blend. The foundation stays on all day even when its hot and It doesn't melt off my face which is great. I like this for the warmer days.

I apply this foundation with either my sponge or my brush and it works so well. Easy application every time. Just don't attempt this with your hands as it doesn't work too well (or maybe that's just me). I know this foundation isn't the cheapest but its defiantly worth it.

Since starting to use this my skin is more even, smoother and brighter. I love how healthy my skin feels even though I wear makeup daily. I really like how this makes my skin feel.

Give this a go for summer :)

I purchased this foundation from countdown a few weeks ago in shade 10, and so far I am liking it, although the colour seems to be quite dark for such a light shade. I have applied this foundation with a brush and my fingers, and have found that the brush is a lot easier. It gives buildable coverage, and is quite light with just one layer. The formula is a bit runny, but easy to apply and blend. I have reasonably oily skin, so I used it with a pressed powder on top, but it didn't quite last the whole day before it started to go oily and patchy. The packaging is quite nice, and it comes with a pump which is a bonus. Although the colour is a bit weird and takes a while to oxidize, I think this is a good foundation for the price, and I would recommend it.

i have recently been trying to find a decent foundation and there was a booth at the warehouse so you could try it so the ladies were helping me tryna get the rite shade so we did an I tried it was perfect it did what it said it would do I have problems with readness especially out in the sun an it was good it hid my red spots I was very suprized so I brought sum as they hada promo on been using it ever since an its great stays on al day .

I bought this after reading the great reviews about it's staying power. A friend also recommended it - she loved it and it stayed on all day without fail.

I was very pleased with the staying power as well - and at first I was so in love with this product! It didn't smudge, it didn't do that cake-y thing... the colour was a reasonable match to my skin.

It's kind of hard for me to explain what I didn't care for with the Better Skin Foundation. I found that while it had excellent staying power, it didn't give my skin that glow that a lot of other foundations (like the l'Oreal range) did. I found the same problem with Double Wear - it just seemed too flat and matte.

I think it's a personal thing for me, I just wouldn't buy it again. But I'm also not throwing it out - I'm going to use it till it's gone, there isn't anything really wrong with it... but when I have an important day or a night out I absolutely won't use this as I don't have as much confidence as I would wearing a different foundation.

This is a great summer day foundation I usually go for a full coverage and probably wouldn't have purchased this myself But when I won this from the lovely ladies at BR I was eager to give it a try. I have combination skin with redness And I got the shade Ivory which I think is slightly too dark but as I get more of a tan in summer it should be perfect.

The texture is thick with no real sent and the first few times I used it I wasn't sure if I liked it but after mastering the application I'm now a big fan it blends nicely while still having good coverage I would say medium maybe even slightly over medium. I love that it has SPF I had just switched foundations from one that has SPF to one that doesn't and was trying to think of a solution so the sun wouldn't get me this upcoming summer and this is my solution.

I find I don't get the oily sheen by the end of the day like I do with some foundations and it has great staying power. I did however have a breakout while using this which is a bit unusual for me so the better skin claim may not be all that true but that's my only negative other than that I highly recommend :)

Usually colour choice is the downfall for me, I am incredibly pale! Usually when purchasing foundations I pick the lightest colour and it still appears far from 'fair'. However I picked the lightest shade from the better skin range in the colour '005 light beige' and it matches perfectly! I find the finish to be medium coverage however it feels more like a bb cream on the skin then a foundation.

I've found the best way to apply to my skin is the following way: Apply moisturiser Apply foundation w beauty blender Set w VERY light dusting of translucent powder

I apply no primer before this foundation, I found with primer is went cakey and didn't appear smooth like other foundations usually would.

While I have been using this foundation for a few weeks I have not noticed any major difference in my skin, however I usually only have one or two small breakouts at a time anyway.

I do like this foundation, however it is not one I reach for very often. There are better, cheaper alternatives out there.

Firstly I'd like to address the colour range, which for such an affordable brand is relatively good; it starts at a very pale shade, great for me in winter and covers both yellow and pink undertones.

So let's talk finish: You're not gettting a full coverage foundation here. But what you are getting is a velvetty smooth finish that feels amazingly lightwieght and breathable on your skin. To me this makes it a great eveyday foundation, especially for those aged 16-25 looking to graduate to foundation who don't really have too much to hide!

For me I started getting patchiness around my dry areas and hairline after about 9 and a half hours of wear, so good longevity for a standard day of wear but not really something I wouldn't want to touch up if i was going out after work.
