Maybelline Tattoo Brow 36hr Pencil

First of all, this made me realise that I need to go and get my eyebrows threaded ASAP!! This is actually the first time that I have used an eyebrow pencil and I LOVED it! It was super easy to apply and I love the eyebrow brush at the opposite end of the pencil, amazing the differemce just that can make. It is a nice soft pencil that has really good coverage and is easy to use. The shade was absolutely perfeft for my brows and I was pleasantly surprised with the dramatic result I got. The packaging is nice, attractive, light and easy to use. It should last a reasomable time as the eyebrow colour does last a couple of days, unless of course you scrub it off by mistake in the shower, so it's not like you have to use it every single day. The price of this pencil is very reasonable for what you get and much cheaper than getting a regular tint at the salon and so quick and easy to use! I was very pleasantly surprised as I thought it would be harder to get this right but I got it perfect first time round and I will 100% be recommending this to my friends!

The only Pros: very pigmented, the spoolie is great, definitely lasts all day without smudging. When I first used this product, of course the pencil point was sharp, and as I continued to it, it becomes more and more blunt.

Overall, I do not like this at all. The consistency is creamier, I prefer a more pomade/wax like texture. The pencil is also not fine enough to be able to fill in sparse areas of my eyebrows or line my eyebrow. The pencil is also too thick when blunt, so it is very difficult to work with even with a light hand.

When I fill in my eyebrows it is hard to control how much product goes on my eyebrow and even when I use the spoolie to blend, I still end up with uneven/ not properly filled in areas.

I wouldn’t use this again for my eyebrows but I don’t want to waste the product, so I might try using it as eyeliner.

The Maybelline Tattoo Brow Pencil is a stylish looking double ended black pencil with a spooly on one end and brow pencil on the other. Each end has its own protective cover.

I have dark blonde/ light brown hair and tried the Soft Brown shade, which is a good solid brown, no red tones. I think this shade would suit a range of brown hair colours.

The pencil goes on a little dark, but blends out nicely with the spooly for a natural look. The product glides on easily, a light touch is best for a softer finish as it doesn't budge once dried.

The only complaint I have is that the pencil cover doesn't stay on so you need to tuck it into your hand when using the spooly end or it will fall off.

Overall a great product, definitely performs as well as high end, more expensive brow products.

It's not often I place a review this negative, but I was really really unimpressed with the Maybelline Tattoo Brow 36hr pencil. The product is a small pencil with a spoolie brush on the other end. I trialled the soft brown colour. Firstly, the soft brown colour isn't soft brown at all. It's actually very dark and I found it too dark for my skin tone. I used the eyebrow pencil every day during the trial period (even though I didn't want to after the first try!). The pencil isn't very easy to use - it doesn't sharpen to a good tip so it's hard to do anything precise. I also find it really annoying and messy to have to sharpen the pencil constantly - it's far easier if the product winds up or you use a brush to apply. The pencil doesn't last for the day, let along for 36 hours as it claims. Maybe if I lay still and did absolutely nothing all day, it might last the day, but does anyone do that?! I didn't do anything particularly onerous, just went about daily life, but the pencil had mostly rubbed off mid way through the day leaving my brows looking patchy. All in all, I was super disappointed with this pencil and I'm really glad the review period is over so I can stop using it! I had really high hopes for this one - I thought that 36 hour wear would mean it lasted well but it absolutely doesn't. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and will be sticking with Benefit brand for now until I find something better.

I usually use a soft black pencil or brow gel for my eyebrows as I have black hair. However, I was surprised at how the darkest shade of the range, (260 Deep Brown), worked for me. It is a dark enough brown that once I had it on you couldn't tell I was wearing a brown pencil and I didn't miss the black.

The formula is soft but goes on sheer, (feels almost gel like), and you can build it up if needed. The pencil is a bit chunky for me though, it doesn't give you any precision and the softness of the product means the tip is worn away quickly. I do not like how it is sharpenable. I feel sharpening the pencil wastes product and makes it harder to hold as it gets shorter so I would prefer if it was retractable. Also, as the pencil has a plastic casing rather than wood, it is going to blunt a sharpener pretty quickly.

It wore very well. You have a few seconds to blend it if needed, then it is set and doesn't budge. The spoolie has a nice shape which blends the product and tidies the brow hairs well. I get migraines often and I forget I'm wearing makeup so I tend to touch my eyebrows and forehead when my head hurts. Even after doing that through the day, I noticed the brow pencil was still on.

I think it's a good pencil, it is long lasting and easy to apply but I would have liked a retractable feature with a sharper tip.

Thanks Beauty review i really like this product its a nice size pencil and the tip is already sharpened ready to go. The brush is a bit longer than most brow pencils and i find it nice and soft but firm enough to get a good brush. I got the soft brown to trial and its a good colour for me and im between colours so a bit blonde/brown/grey lol if i push harder it goes darker so im really happy with it. It lasts really well and has been sweat proof with the warm humid days we've been having. I think it might even be longer lasting than 36hrs. Definitely another product i will continue to use and buy in the future.

This review is part of a trial I have been selected to undertake- thanks Beauty Review! I trialled this over a 5 day period. I selected the soft brown colour as didnt see an option for a dark blonde colour (dark blonde better for me as fair skinned and blonde hair), which Maybelline has as a colour choice with their brow satin pencil I was using before trial. Dark blonde would have been a better colour for me for the Tattoo Studio Pencil perhaps Maybelline could look into this. Pencil arrived in cardboard backing with the pencil inserted into a plastic sleeve sealed to the cardboard. Visually the pencil tip was same as a crayola crayon in shape. Was very easy to apply, tip was sturdy didnt easily break i didnt have to press hard, i was able to easily follow my very faint,very fair eyebrows and from there i built up the shape i required and used the spoolie to comb it through very lightly otherwise it would have removed it due to my eyebrow hair being minimal. It was darker than i would have liked for my complexion etc but i loved the finish it gave me by far the best finish. I wear reading glasses and sunglasses alot and found it didnt rub the product off which was fab for me as all the other pencils and powders i have tried have rubbed off leaving my eyebrows looking rather odd so 10 out of 10 for this Maybelline! The product lasted a total of about 21 hours as when i woke up in the morning one eyebrow was completely rubbed off and the other eyebrow had minimal amount left so i didnt find it lasted 36 hours for me. The product lasted all day for me and into the evening right up until i washed my other makeup off but my main accomplishment was that it stayed on all day. The pencil didnt have any scent not that it needs it! After 4 days pencil needed sharpening which i did with my cosmetic sharpener ( Maybelline recommends this rather than an ordinary pencil sharpener). The pencil sharpened fine - the coating surrounding the pencil is a thinnish plastic but not sure how much you can sharpen it as not had it long enough and would depend on useage. Because of this i am not sure if it will be value for money yet. Overall I think this is a great little pencil and would highly recommend and would definitely buy again.

I’ve used this every day since I got this and the biggest surprise for me was definitely how well it lasts. I found I could apply this in the morning, wear it all day and even go to the gym and be hot and sweaty and I don’t need to worry about my brows going anywhere! For someone who is so fair I have almost no brows normally I found this perfect!

I was lucky enough to get to trial this pencil that also has a brush at the other end. It glided on smoothly and I found that it filled in my slightly patchy eyebrows wonderfully. Simple to use and if I did accidentally put a bit much in one area, I simply used the brush end and it blended it in nicely. It lasted all day and came off easily with my eye make up remover. I tried the deep brown 260 colour which was a perfect fit for my naturally brown brows. I love this pencil a lot!

I have been using a powder for the past year so I was excited to give this a go. I love how it has the spoolie at the opposite end which means you only need the one item to complete your brow look compared to me using a powder, brush and then a spoolie! I found this formula very pigmented and easy to work with. I have to master my right eyebrow as I would make it look too dark but the formula was very easy to work with and blend out and I ended up being very happy with the outcome. I however didn’t trial this for 36hrs as I can’t sleep with make up on but I did have it on for 15 hours without it budging and still looking fresh! I will be recommending this brow pencil and be using it over powder and pomade!
