Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Mascara Review

I was elated to be sent this mascara to trial, I received the black which is lovely and intense and comes in a beautiful sleek gold packaging. Consistency: The perfect consistency for application, not wet and not dry, just perfect. Application: The applicator brush has a lovely shape, lots of bristles and slightly tapers at the end for easy access to corners and lower lashes. Fragrance: Hardly noticeable, but very pleasant. Quite like it if anything. Coverage: I like to swipe over my lashes a few times, the formula magically coats the lashes adding massive volume to my stumpy lashes. Longevity: Lasts all day perfectly, I have had no problems with smudging yet. Usage: After one week it is still going strong. Price: At around $25.00 this is on par with many other mascaras, altho I have only used this for 1 week, I am looking forward to seeing how long this lasts for before drying out. Packaging: Stunning shiny gold wand, sleek with screw lid. The shape makes it very easy to hold. Results: Stoked with the results, definitely adds volume and length to my stumpy lashes. Fave mascara to date. Recommendation: I would highly recommend this mascara, affordable, does what it says. I just wish there was a blue/black shade now!

This is a really nice mascara and I will definitely continue to use it. The volume it adds is exactly the right amount I like. I don't often wear false lashes so I rely on a good mascara to make the most of what lashes I have and this product has most definitely done that! The gold packaging is also something I really like aside from how good the actual product is! I also really like the applicator wand, it definitely seems to apply the formula to lashes in a way that increases the volume compared to using a more standard style applicator. Once applied it dries nice and quickly and I didn't experience any irritation or flaking whatsoever. Definitely recommend this one!

I have been wearing the Colossal Big shot since it arrived, and I am really loving how good it is.

Its easy to apply, and goes on smoothly and It defines my lashes rather well. I love that it is waterproof so to speak but easily comes off with my micellar water at the end of the day...

I definitely will be using this more often as I am a regular Mascara user and its still perfect to throw in my handbag etc.

I'm a fan of Maybelline mascaras in general. Like a squillion other girls, my first mascara was of course, Great Lash. I still come back to it every few years.

The Big Shot Collassal is gold. Not classy gold, blinging gold. The gangSTAR in me loves it..

The brush is large and not overly tapered, I was curious as to how it would catch the inner lashes without being a smudge-fest but it was fine!

I love that this is buildable. One layer is a great day lash, 2 layers - thick voluminous lashes ready to paint the town.

I think you're generally pretty safe with Maybelline lashes - this probably ranks as my favourite. Knocking Great Lash down a peg.

I hadn’t actually realised but I have a bunch of these in my draws. I was cleaning out and noticed a wee stash of these and without knowing it I realised I gravitate towards this mascara All. The. Time. They are so well used the labelling has worn off.

I have used a tonne of maybelline mascaras and I must admit I’m a huge fan. Majority of them are faves they are so affordable and do a pretty good job.

Obviously for me this one is no exception. I have a bunch of maybelline mascaras of different varieties to use on my shelf and a repeat of this colossal is one of them.

I think I love that it adds length and volume without clumping or looking like a layer of tar. It lengthens my lashes perfectly. I do prefer the length look over volume but to have both pretty close to perfect is amazing. As this thickens them leaving a close to natural look.

It stays put all day.. it really doesn’t budge unlike my old push up fave by them.. which I still love. And it is fairly easy to remove given it’s staying power.

What I really love is that this doesn’t sting my eyes or snap my lashes - I can use day after day and not have a problem whereas some other mascaras send my lashes to their graves.

This will be hard to beat. Although I do seem to have a maybelline mascara crush and like to try them all so I guess I could be surprised but for now I will use the colossal mostly.

Love this product. Doesn’t clump, lifts and curls, affordable and accessible. Does tend to give me panda eyes after a night out but what do you expect from a cheaper product. If I’m on a budget this is one of the ones I reach for.

Love the easy way it builds up in your lashes and yet does not clump , or flake off after wear all day , I like the shape of the bristles too as they separate your lashes It's always in my make up kit . And very reasonable in price too Thanks x

As someone with not exactly the longest lashes in the world, a mascara that boldly announces itself as with words like "colossal, big and volume" instantly has my attention.

The mascara comes in a large gold tube and has come similarities in appearance to other mascaras in the colossal range. I like the gold and purple packaging better than the previous yellow and purple colossal mascara. I think it looks more stylish. However, as someone who has gone to mini mascaras in order to have a slight chance at finishing them in 3-6 months, the size felt like a colossal waste of space and I personally would love to see Maybelline bring out a mini version.

But to the product inside, the mascara is in the shade blackest black and the shade is nice and dark. The 'big shot brush' used to apply it is really just like any mascara brush at the end of the day, but it works to apply the mascara and that's what matters.

I personally used more than the one coat that was advertised to get that full effect. But once the mascara was on it stayed on until I was ready to wash it off. I use rosehip oil to remove my mascara and had no issue with that.

I've always felt Maybelline was the go to brand for drugstore mascaras and this mascara is another in a strong range. For me the only thing Maybelline could do to improve is bring out a smaller version, if their mascaras weren't so big, I'd probably use them all the time. But for people who aren't bothered by that it's a winner.
