Fab polishes for fab nails.

I looove OPI nail polishes!! They are fabulous and there is a huge range of colours. There are so many colours to choose from and they are rich and long lasting. They dry really fast, and they have a beautiful finish. The colour pigment is amazing and make your nails look amazing. They don't chip for days, nearly a week or so in my experience, unlike some of the cheaper brands out there.

These polishes are quite expensive but they are good quality and you get quite alot of product in each bottle, so it's worth it and who doesn't want fabulous nails?!

Opi is a old time favorite

Opi has always been my number one go to nail polish. It's opaque and lasts well. They have a lot of colors to choose from. The nail polish itself lasts a long time so it won't dry up in the bottle before you want to use it

Tips: Shake all your nail polish bottles every month if your not using them to keep them from separating

This nail polish is honestly the best polish out that I have come across it applies smoothly and dry's well. The end result is like you have been to the nail salon

Polish Perfection

I have 36 OPI polishes (obviously I love them :P) and think they are one of the best polish brands available. I find they last a decent time without chipping or wearing and dry time isn't horrendously long.

They have a beautiful range of shades (I would get them all if I could) and the formula is always great and goes on streak/clump free.

They also have the cutest names which I find cool and a good sized brush. They are pretty pricey in comparison to other brands on the market but they often come on sale and for the quality and shades available I think they are worth the price.

Tips: Always add a base and top coat if you want your nails to stay chip free for longer.

Dependability and Amazing Colour Range

When I was 18, and OPI newly available on the market, my mum bought me my first OPI. It was an incredible vibrant green named Greenwich Village. I had never seen anything like it before and it was the beginning of an obsession.

At first I was horrified by the price. This was an age when minimum wage was $8 so the $25 price tag represented about 4 hours of my life working checkout after school. It was worth it though and I slowly built up my collection.

OPI fo' sho' has the best colour range around. There's something for everyone's taste. Every year multiple collections are added and more of my hard earned cash is whittled away.

The consistency and wear can be relied on, I've never bought an OPI that was a disappointment. Some, like the shatter range, are more of a novelty and seldom used though.

Here's where things get sad. In 2010 my collection was tragically and maliciously stolen from my bedroom by a flatmate's bedmate. My years of hardwork wasted, all that remained of hours of painting nails was my memories. It's taken another 4 years but I am getting there I WILL REBUILD.

Tips: Fun fact: It's pronounced Oh-pee-eye not Ope-ee... Don't embarrass yourself like I did by making that mistake! F

Loved your review! It made me laugh and I felt your pain at the stealing of your precious polish - I hope karma bit them on their fancy coloured toes!

OVERRATED- but that's just one girl's opinion.

I LOVE that they have just an array of fabulous colours, but they are not the bee knees, in my humble opinion. $2 Shop's (Made in USA) brand JORDANA has quite a range of gorgeous colours; the pink, lavender and turquoise polishes only needed ONE coat and lasts just as long as any of OPI's. Kmart's $5 (Made in USA) brand SINFUL COLORS is aaamaaazing! Sooo many gorgeous hues, incredibly chip-resistant and so opaque (of course that's dependent on the nail polish colour/finish). Even Kleancolor (available from Postie+) does a bang up job.

Tips: I'm just saying- don't shop just for the brand. There are equally (if not better) brands sitting quietly on shelves out there, that cost a small fraction of OPI's price. 1 bottle of OPI = 4 bottles of Sinful Color.

My first Nail Polish Love

OPI was my first nail polish love (Essie has since slipped into my life as my number one now). At the moment I have 17 full size shades and 16 mini bottles. Argh I hate counting these up as I keep thinking if I had all that money back imagine what I could buy with it (lets face it, more beauty products). In my defence I didn't pay the full retail for these bottles, I would often pick them up on special, 2 for 1 deals, or receive for presents.

I love the bottles of these, something about the rounded bottle with the tall black lid looks so classic to me and makes me keep them even though some probably need to go in the bin by now. I love the long lid on these as it makes it easy to hold as you are doing your nails or toenails. The brush itself is pretty standard though just a rounded finish. I keep my nail polishes standing up so I like that I can see what colour they are around the sides of the lid.

Most of the time I purchase these from Farmers to be able to get the points. I also like that Farmers have the latest ranges of colours. I must say that buying the smaller bottles is a great deal if you like all of the shades. I have never finished a bottle of nail polish (maybe because I have so many) so I find that getting the smaller ones is a great way to grow the amount of shades you have.

The wear time of these differs from shade to shade with these, but I find most of the time I can get one to last 4 to 5 days before I get bored or the tips start to wear. I also find the 'nail polish' scent of these is extra strong, so don't paint your nails in your bedroom just before going to sleep!

THE LOVES; 'It's MY Year' a beautiful duochrome deep purple with gold reflects in it. 'Suzi Takes the Wheel' a very neutral grey that I love wearing to work for a classy polished look. 'Black Onyx' a classic glossy black that is opaque in two coats and stays on for ages. 'Warm & Fozzie' a beautiful brown and gold glittery sort of shade, different from anything else I own and looks great with everything.

THE KINDA LIKES (but wouldn't recommend); 'Kyoto Pearl' a white pearly shade that I have no idea why I picked up. Because of the pearl finish it takes ages to look perfect, and takes a lot of coats to look opaque, too much effort for me. 'Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It' I had to have this as soon as I saw it! It is pink glitter with pink hearts in it. Looks gorgeous in the bottle but as soon as you try and put it on none of the hearts come out and if they do you just get a clump of them. Not worth the effort or price just buy your own glitter and add them on top of your nails to any colour nail polish on your nails when wet if you want the glitter hearts.

This is worth the money!!

This was my first nail polish that I had gotten through a whole bottle of. I have tried many other brands like Sally Hansen, Essie, Orly and a few others. This is the one polish that has never let me down!

First off I reckon this has better longevity than any of the other brands out there that I have tried so far, I worked with Orly for a couple of years at my old job and I also have purchased a couple of colours for self use. I found that the formular got thick quite quickly after opening the bottle and personally I find the brush way too small, had to do extra stokes which meant that you had to work quickly, which for some of you who are still trying to get you technique down pat, rushing is the last thing you want to do!

OPI have many different colours in many different finishes so Im sure you will find a colour if not two that your definately going to love!

I do recommend this polish to a lot of you out there as it does last a good amount of time on the nail, the formulation is nice and easy to work with and the size of the brush does all the work for you! What more could you ask for :)

Tips: Longevity of polish, I understand is a big thing for a few of you out there. First off I want to point out that it all begins on the condition that your nail is in.. If you have dry and/or brittle nails ie they peel, spilt or break easily this is going to affect how long the polish is going to last on your nail. I know this sounds so simple and easy to understand but I have experienced with a lot of clients that this simple fact is also easy to forget. So if this is a case that you deal with make sure you look after your nails and get them to a good condition before you waste your money either buying heaps of polish colours and them not lasting or getting your nails done at a Beauty Therapy clinic.

Once your nails are at a nice healthy condition then you are ready to paint! I will not stress enough that 4 coats really do make a difference! I have friends asking me all the time "Lesh! Why doesnt my nail polish last?" I say "How many coats have you applied" and they reply with "Umm maybe one colour and a top coat". This is were we go wrong. As a Beauty Therapist we are trained to apply four coats (1 base coat, 2 colour coats and 1 top coat) Simply this provides a smooth surface, a perfect colour payoff and locks everything in. When applying polish go from one pinky to the other pinky and you dont have to wait between each coat for the polish to dry, it is best that they all dry together as one complete coat.

It sounds simple enough but buffing on a regular basis (as well as applying cuticle oil) and right before you paint (no cuticle oil) is going to help the polish last, as with buffing you are, once again providing a smooth surface and there is less of a chance that flaky parts of the nail are going to lift while the polish is on.

Last but not least! Allow plenty of drying time!! In about 10 to 20 minutes they will be "touch" dry but not completey. Some do have to wait a couple of hours for it to be completey dry. A cool fan can help this process along ;)

Wow did I make this long enough for you all! I hope some of these tips have been helpful?! Please comment below if you have any other problems with your nails and polish application. Ill be more than happy to help :) xx
