More Hype Than They're Worth

Professional colour? Tick. Amazing number of shades to choose from. But long lasting? Not so much. Even with a solid base and top coat I struggle to stop my OPI polishes chipping after a couple of days. The colours are hard to pass up but the quality just isn't there for me. Given their price you'd want them to last a little longer. Their polishes can also be really hit or miss. Some can be clumpy or streaky or unexpectedly sheer. I think I'll try stick with the minis so that way I can use them up faster and move on.

Tips: Invest in a good base and top coat, they make a world of difference!

Good polish - not my colour

I got this in the New Discoveries BBBE in the shade "You've got that Glas-Glow" which is a light purple/plum shade. Not a colour I particularly like. I've used other OPI nail lacquers, and I find them good. They apply easily, dry quite quickly, and last a week or so before getting too chipped and worn. This one was no exception, except that I really don't like the colour as it doe snot complement my skin tone.

As a lacquer in general it is good though. For $19.19, it is a fair price, and there are some other delicious colours in the range (I love the deep reds).

Definitely worth having a look - the product is good and the range is big enough to find some lovely shades for yourself.

OPI Mariah Carey- Can't Let Go

I had a go at using this this tonight, after applying a base coat I applied 2 coats following instructions. I found it hard to get an even coating understandable with the glitter in the polish. Yet the brush was difficult to glide over the nail and found it hard to get nice edges. the glitter seemed to clog the brush so it was much harder than normal to apply than i find with colored OPI shades. Personally while i like the look and love the color it was not as simple and easy to use as standard polishes and prefer the smooth classic look.

50/50

I was so excited to try this product as I absolutely adore nail polishes and always have a nail polish on. This nail polish def needs two coats, the first coat came out onto my nail as a light see through greyish colour, once the second coat was applied the darker colour comes through on the nail with the really pretty red specs of glitter/shimmer. Although the colour is gorgeous and a colour I would personally wear, I was just not into the texture of the nail polish. it really does feel like sand on your nails and has a dry and rough feeling on the nail, which combined with my already dry skin, didn't make my hands feel very nice :( When you rub your finger around the tips of your nails, it also makes them feel rough, and to me, gives me that horrible feeling of when you have a broken nail. HOWEVER.....I did apply a top coat over the nail polish and this did take the sandy/rough texture away, which gave me a nice smooth nail. All and all, gorgeous colour, but bad formula.

Tips: Apply a top coat if you want a smoother feeling polish :)

Gorgeous nails...but not for a long time!

I had heard about OPI's new liquid sand technology and I was very excited to try it out. I am a big OPI fan and think they can do no wrong but I was a little disappointed in this. I'm not usually a fan of blue nail polishes but I have to admit this was a very pretty colour especially with the reflective glitter in it. You definitely need two or three coats to get a good finish. I wasn't really a fan of how rough my nails felt with the finish but it was very pretty to look at and I might try putting a top coat on next time to smooth down the texture.

About two days after I applied the polish it started to chip at the top of my nails, pretty much across all of them and I hadn't been doing any harsh cleaning or putting my nails through much so I was really surprised that it came off so quick. By day five it was looking awful so I took it off. I didn't use a base coat and it didn't stain my nails which was a big plus considering it was a blue polish.

I think I would use it again for a night out, special occasion or maybe with a top coat to see if would last longer.

Tips: I thought it would be really tough to take off with nail polish remover like some glittery polishes are, but it was surprisingly easy, I just held a cotton square soaked with remover over the nail for 5 seconds then wiped away.

Not the best

I was super excited to trail this product! once it got to my house i was slightly let down, in the picture the colour more matalic purple but in real life its a brown- deep burgandy with red shimmer. Still its a beautiful winter colour that i would reccomened to wear at night. One thing i didnt like is that with my other O.P.I nail polishs i only need one to two coats of varnish but with this one i needed 3 otherwise the colour was very brown. Also the formula was very liquidy and hard to apply, but apart from that i thought the nail polish was pretty good but im not convinced i would buy again.

Tips: I ended up putting a layer of O.P.I's pearl of wisdom polish on over top and it mad it look a lot more like a pearly purple and made it more wearable during the day.

Opi

I normally use Revlon nail polish but this colour really appealed to me, and one and a half coats was good enough. I liked the drying time, and the colour is super cute!

OPI - Alpine Snow

i love white nail polish on my nails just because it makes me look more tan (i have quite fair skin) and it is the perfect colour all year round! so i was in need for another white polish and thought that OPI would best suit what i was looking for, but this colour didnt cut it it was just too opaque for my liking, i would prefer something with more pigment because i hate have to do more than 2 coats as im quite a restless and impatient person and cant sit around for too long waiting for multiple coats to dry so i end up with a ruined manicure and an annoyed bethany haha so this polish wasnt for me needs more pigment in my books :/

Pretty colour, bad texture

Really do not like OPI's liquid sand polishes. They chip a lot easier than the regular polish and leave a gritty feeling. It is also so difficult to get off and I find myself using way to much nail polish remover than anyone ever should! This is a nice colour but not worth the hassle of getting it off!

Tips: One coat is enough!

OPI

OPI has a great colour range, but that's really it. It's by far the most over priced, over rated nail polish! I prefer Orly and Essie, the only thing is they lack the different colours which sometimes you need OPI for, but if I can, I buy something else. I find it chips more quickly, and becomes gluier faster than Orly.

Tips: base coat and top coat!
