I am very well acquainted with this nail polish as it is the chosen brand to work with on my beauty course. Let's just say I have a big disliking for this product and do not understand the hype at all. Yes, the shade range is phenomenal! So many gorgeous colours to choose from but what's the point when the formula isn't on par with more affordable brands? I find this to be streaky and goopy - you don't get much play time with this polish. It's also not fast drying at all and some of the shades require 3+ coats for a good opaque finish. Even when Orly's top coat is applied I get chipping and flaking within a day or two which I do not experience with other brands. Overall I do not recommend these, I much prefer Essie and Sally Hansen over this brand.

Orly has a FANTASTIC range of colours- they are unique and look awesome, my favourite being "Steel Your Heart" which is the most awesome grey- a colour that I haven't been able to find anywhere else however that's where the positives end. I find I need 4-5 coats of this lacquer just to get nice coverage and quality colour. And then there's the drying time. I thought OPI had the longest drying time, but Orly far exceeds that. This stuff takes a ridiculous amount of time to try and it smudges very easily. I rarely use the 1 Orly lacquer I have even though the colour is to die for, because it takes so so long to dry; I just don't have the time to wait around doing nothing.
I really like the convenient size of the smaller bottles that are available from Orly however I don't like the formula all that much. I have had Orly in a couple of colours- a midnight blue colour (unsure what its called), a jade green and a purple called Lollipop. The jade green was alright after a couple of coats but I don't really like the application of the polish overall- its quite streaky and difficult to make look professional. It also chips really quickly :( . I typically buy these in the mini bottles so I do wonder whether the smaller brush is what is causing the application to be streaky
The way the product is made is very good with the no nasty and low irritant chemicals uv inhibitors etc and the rubber grip lid can make applications easier but the product has a shelf life after a few uses the stuff thickens more making it harder to work with and get a good finish some shades seem to have a longer and shorter shelf life than others and some also stay on longer and are hard to remove great shade selection and for the price you sort of get what you pay for except make sure you care for them well as they tend to thicken up you need to allow decent time to let nails dry.
The bottle of varnish look gorgeous, and the colour range cannot be compared to any other. I love the rubber top which helps me get a good grip, and that is free from harsh chemicals. But I think the lasting power isn't so good, within a day of application the polish tends to chip and peel off.
I picked up a lavender Orly polish whilst on sale a few months ago, the brush for applying was excellent, the colour was even throughout and only needed 2 coats of this pale lavender colour to become a soild coat. It didn't last as long as the other brands I normally use, probably only a day and half before one nail had a chip and then I have to take it all off.
I have this polish in a really dark midnight blue shade and I have to say I have been quite pleased with it.
Firstly, the grippy handle is a really good feature. It may not look as sleek as an OPI varnish but I haven't had any trouble getting this polish open - I'm always struggling with my OPI varnishes. It also makes it a lot easier to apply without any slippages.
The brush is a nice shape and allows the polish to just glide on without being awkwardly square or too big. The polish itself is a really great consistency, not gluggish but more of a watery feel to it. Easily applied in two coats.
Although it chipped after about a days use I found it only chipped very slightly and didn't come off in big chunks like i sometimes experience with other polishes. It was easily touched up and went on to last a solid 4 days until it got super tattery.
Overall I would highly recommend these polishes and I can't wait to get them in more shades.
I am super undecided on Orly. The colours, especially the pale pinks and nudes are generally always stunning and that's what draws me more to Orly more than OPI. But I find Orly nail polish quite thin. I have had to do a minimum of 3 coats with some of the shallower shades and I often end up with a streaky look as a result of this. Not entirely impressed with it but the shades are gorgeous so it is worth giving it a go!
This nail polish is good but not great! I buy it because I love the midnight blue shade, its a constant in my life. It last long and doesn't go off fast and separate which is always good. It stays on for a couple of days but chips after 1 or 2. It dries really lovely, flat and fast and doesn't clump/glug up.
Tips: As with any nail polish use a base and top coat :)
I must say i am NOT happy with the Orly Nail Lacquer. For Some reason it dried and looked AMAZING but it started to chip then it actually peels off. leaving my nail nice and clean, as if it was never painted. I tried with the base coat and then the colour and a top coat but nothing seemed to help. I am so annoyed.
