I thought I would try a different approach to applying foundation than the normal sponge and other foundation brushes. This one is more like a big paint brush style and thought why not?! I had never tried QVS products before this so was excited to see if my opinion and technique would change after using it a few times. I love the simple black handle, so sleek and chic. The bristles I find are a bit hard to the touch but together to apply can be quite flimsy. I apply the foundation to my face first in three different blobs.....each cheek and forehead. I use the QVS brush to spread it on my face in a normal way. I found that the brush held on to too much of the foundation and it was lost in amongst the fibres. I found myself using far more product than I was used to and needing to wash it at least three times a week.
It promises that it won't leave streaks and that it blends effortlessly. I am still waiting to see the effortless blending and streak free foundation. I found that I had to blend the foundation in with a sponge applicator afterwards to get an even coverage and streak free look. What a waste of time if I have to do it twice! I find that the brush fibres tend to fall out and are left on my clothes and all over my face which means I have to pick them all off. I also means I have to retouch my foundation after I stick my fingers in it trying to get the bristles off my face. When washing it I find that the dry time is almost double that of my thickest stipple brush which is very dense and big.
All in all I am highly disappointed in this. I thought it may be the answer to a streak free look and easy application. I wouldn't use it again it's just too much doubling the work load and makes makeup application seem a mundane task instead of a fun 'me time' thing. You can stay in the back of the draw from now on QVS foundation brush!
I have been using this for my foundation for about a year now & I'm impressed with how well it has lasted to be honest! It is getting about to the end of it's life now but I think a year or so is quite good for a cheap brush! It washes well & it hasn't shed many bristles. It applies well but I definitely need to finish with a sponge as the streakyness can be quite obvious with liquid foundation. I found it not so bad with mousse though.
