I was lucky enough to receive this for trial. I was so excited as Rimmell make my faverite masacaras. It was even better that I received this at the start of the Covid 19 lockdown so had something new to play with (and an excuse to still wear makeup) The consistency is creamy and opaque but the applicator wasnt anything special. It has a tapered end but rather large base.I ususally choose mascaras based on the applicator as I have very small eyes so a large wand ends up painting my eyelids. The first coat does an amazing job at seperating the lashes, and applying more layers to build the volume still has them seperated and non clumpy which i loved. I have hooded eyes and some mascara does transfer onto my eyelids during the day. This only happened once and that was a day I wore tinted moisturizer instaead of my usual matte foundation with powder eyeshadow, so that wold of been the reason. Overall I found this a very nice mascara to use as I could have subtle results for a day look or a more stronger look by building the layers. The eyelash seperation was the biggest win for me.

Tips: If you apply layers while still wet, the lases remain seperated and can take multiple coats to get the desired effect. I found if I let the masacara nearly dry between coats I recieved the most dramatic look.
i got picked to trial this product, so thanks so much for that. it unfortunately came right as our lock down started so didn't get to test this out and about, but i gave it a good go around the house. In the past I've had great difficulty with mascara, its usually to do with the shape of the wands and the mascara being to clumpy for me to bother with (who has time for that.. right?!) I was actually pleasantly surprised testing this out, the container itself is fine, just like most, easy to hold, and open. the wand end is shaped slightly different to previous ones I've used, with a tapered end to get better into the corners/ends. It was really easy to apply, and i was very happy with the fact it the mascara didn't seem to clump, or have my lashes stick together. making it so comfortable to wear. i honestly didn't even feel like i had any on. With one layer it didn't look overly done, so for me that was perfect, but you could easily add extra layers for a more fuller look. Although i wouldn't wait to longer for extra layers, it was a little hard to do once it was fully dry. it lasted most of the day, and was easily removed (i used micellar water) I will be using this again!
I'm a bit of a floozy when it comes to mascaras - I mean there's so much choice, and I go through them so quickly, that I tend to pick the one that catches my eye or the one that's reviewed well, or the one that's on special. I haven't really got a 'brand' preference - until now.
The Rimmel ScandalEyes Volume on Demand is, for me, the perfect mascara. It ticks all of the boxes. Affordable. Great sturdy wand. Builable formula. Easy to find in the supermarket.
The formula isn't too wet, nor too tacky - it goes on smoothly and evenly, and dries pretty quickly. I mean don't blink while applying it, or it's going to go on your lid, but you don't have to stand there with 'mascara face' between each layer.
When building the layers it never goes bitty or clumpy. It maintains a smooth layer on the shaft of each lash. 2 was my perfect day number. If I ever go out again at night, (seriously, lockdown is dragggggging) I'll use 3 layers.
If you love PHAT lashes, that look amazing, feel amazing and ooze volume - give this a try. I'm looking at settling down with this baby for a while to come, it is love.
I have not had a good run with mascara so I was skeptical that this product was for me!
However, I was wrong. Rimmel’s ScandalEyes Volume on Demand has been welcome addition to my make-up bag.
This product made my eyes pop, and gave me a volume that I have lusted after for years. The solution did not cake or flake on my eyelashes, giving me a clean and wide-eyed look.
I have a tendency to rub my eyes, and I was impressed that this mascara doesn’t smudge.
In terms of how waterproof this product was, I can’t fault it. I gave it the ultimate test by wearing it while watching The Notebook! And while I bawled my eyes out, the mascara did not run or smudge!
Perfect for day and night, and any occasion this mascara is a must-have!
Tips: Buy it!
I am absolutely loving this Rimmel ScandalEyes Volume on Demand mascara!! I was stoked to become a trial tester for this product as I love big lashes!! The bigger the better in fact. The best thing about this mascara is it does create big fake like lashes that are super long but without the clumps that’s some mascara leaves. The shape of the wand is kind of like an hour glass shape which makes applying so quick and easy. As we are currently on lockdown I have been having fun playing around with this epic mascara. The other thing I love about this product is the cost! Great value for money.
I was lucky enough to be selected to trial this mascara. The mascara comes in the standard Rimmel packaging. The brush it’s self has a kink on either side, I didn’t like this design as it impacted on the application of the mascara. It ended up on on my eye lids instead of my lashes. It made my lashes appear think and long however I would not purchase as I didn’t like the brush. It didn’t leave any clumps so it’s not a bad mascara overall.
I’ll preface this by mentioning I’m already a big fan of Rimmel mascaras. So although I was already expecting something great, I was blown away by just how well this worked for me! I have somewhat sparse, half blonde/ light brown lashes and like to use products that can both lengthen and add volume. This combination can be so hard to nail, to get volume generally means applying layers and often results in dreaded spider leg lashes.
The product itself doesn’t have much of a smell at all, the brush is shaped almost like an 8 and very thick with brush hairs - which is a great sign. The product has some very slight flaking but nothing noticeable or unusual / it could also be because it was straight from a fresh bottle and needed a little more product worked into the brush. What I found was that the formula was SO forgiving. I did one layer and it was so light, so I kept on building and much to my surprise my lashes were lengthened and I was also able to keep them looking natural and not clumpy at all! I ended up with nicely spread, evenly coated, lashes. They also looked very natural (which I tend to aim for unless I’m doing a heavy night time look), but you could easily keep applying for something more dramatic, but this formula and brush is certainly ideal for an everyday makeup. I should also note, the product feels really light on the lash, I couldn’t notice it at all during wear which is seriously another point for this mascara.
Overall, I think this is a super awesome mascara, even my partner commented how great it looked on. The bonus is that it’s really affordable, and quite frankly far out performed some of the more expensive brands that I’ve used before.
I am not a fan. Simple as that.
When I first opened it, the brush was an interesting shape, so I had hope that that would mean that my outer lashes would be HUGE. But unfortunately this product was nothing but disappointing.
First coat just gave the lashes a nice tint. But when I tried to apply one more, for that " continually buildable volume without clumps" that they advertised... all i got were clumps and stuck together lashes. Where was my volume???
Would not use this product again. Sorry Rimmel.
So I have to start with the disclaimer that I have a holy grail favourite mascara so this one had to live up to a lot. For the price it did pretty okish but I wouldn’t rebuy.
I REALLY wanted to focus on trialling the ‘build-ability’ this product claims to have. When I applied the first coat I was pleased enough, very subtle but a nice formula. I straight away start applying more coats and it did build up a bit, a pretty natural result. I generally like my mascara to have a bit more punch. The next day I applied one coat and then let it completely dry.. for like an hour.. before applying the next coat. This was a FAIL. The mascara on my eyelashes was super dry and I couldn’t drag the brush through very well to apply any more - this was the same to me as all other mascara if you try to ‘top up’ on dry mascara. I was disappointed by that, I thought a mascara you could build up on throughout the day seemed like a great idea!
The packaging is big thick and red, very rimmel, and the brush pretty standard although it did separate the lashes beautifully when applied normally.
Overall I’d say this is a nice natural mascara and I will certainly use it, but the revolutionary buildability... I didn’t see it.
Tips: I suggest not applying on dried eyelashes.. mine crumbled.
Rimmel ScandalEyes Volume on Demand came as a welcome treat to cheer me up during this current lock down. And it definitely lived up to it's expectations for me. The brush provided easy application. One layer was good enough for a day look and a couple more in the evening worked wonders at adding volume to my lashes without clumping or making my lashes stiff. And the best part was even with wearing it all day it didn't smudge or irritate my eyes. I'd definitely recommend this and consider buying it again.
