I scored this on special for $4.98 at countdown. The formula is thin/medium, and is easy applied, on me it separates my lashes and coats each one, but doesnt give much volume. Non clumping and drys fast, I find this amazing to just use on my bottom lashes as separates and lengthens slightly.
Tips: Try cutting the brush to use just on your bottom lashes, to open your eyes up.
i actually love this from the bright large packaging to the actual product.
The brush is big which I like, I don't find the actual product too clumpy.
However you do need to wipe quite a bit off, and then apply a few coats. After you have done this you certainly will have scandalous eyes.
It just makes my eyes pop with voluminous, long beautiful lashes.
as far as the waterproof goes, i have not had a problem with it running or flaking off.
I wouldn't repurchase full price but it is often at makeup sales.
Tips: wipe off qutie a bit of product and pop a few coats on
So I bought this wee gem at one of those make-up pop up sale stores. I needed a new mascara, a cheapie to fill in while I save up for my holy grail, EOH. This was cheap, and I was attracted to the sheer, massive chunkiness that is this humongous, freak of a mascara. I'm such a mascara addict that I washed my makeup off and tried it the second I got home, and my initial feelings weren't too flash hot. I pull out this utterly enormous brush, coated with a very thick, goopy formula. On application this thing gives me waaaay too much product. Big clumpy spider eyes, anyone? Oh dear.. Then I remembered a Wayne Goss video, where he took another monstrous brush and took pretty much all the product off. He said to "wipe it until you think you've wiped off too much, then wipe again. ", and wipe I did! I scraped as much product as I could back over the mouth of the tube, then wiped wiped away the excess by rolling over a tissue. Three, four coats and BAM! Sweet Mother do I have some glorious lashes! I can hear cherubs sing! This is a twenty buck mascara!? Even better, I paid $13! Uh, yes please! This lengthened, volumise, splayed my lashes out, and NO CLUMPING! The Godzilla sized brush does hold too much product, but scrape it down and those huge bristles lovingly coat your lashes, transforming them into soft, silky looking, beautiful, elegant lash perfection. It's also amazing for curling them up. it doesn't flake, and washes off easily with cleanser.
Tips: Try this mascara, but you really, REALLY need to remove the excess. The brushsis so big that I struggled with the wiggle (I tried everything), but found, as I said, if you really scrape off the excess, all you need is three or four slow, vertical strokes. Perfect.
What immediately stood out to me with this product was the incredible vibrant orange packaging! Just TRY and lose this mascara. I love that the colour and size (its quite big!) make it easy to find, great when you don't have a lot of time to get ready.
The wand is made of fibre so not like the rubber bristles I generally prefer but once I found the right way too use it I actually really liked it.
Now on to the mascara itself. HEAPS of product comes out on the brush so if you don't apply properly you can be sure you'll get some clump action.
It just so happened that the week I got this mascara I watched an incredible tutorial by the man sent from makeup heaven to guide us to better lashes, Wayne Goss. In the tutorial Goss said the best way to use your mascara is to wipe excess off. Now i'm not talking a little dab on the brim of the tube - I'm talking wipe wipe wipe and wipe again. And when you think you've finished wiping you bet you wipe one more time. I know you might be thinking this all sounds a little crazy and how will there be any product left for my lashes but trust me - For this particular mascara it worked wonders.
I found when I used it like this the mascara applied easily with no clumps and made my lashes look AMAZING. It was also incredibly easy to build up layers and still look really natural.
The only reason I give this product a four is because it takes a little longer to apply when using this step and you don't get the same results without it.
I was so so so stoked to use this! I am a huge fan of Rimmel and just look at the packaging! Why wouldn’t you want to use this?
Let’s start of with the packaging. It is much bigger than any other mascara I own, bonus which means more product and a bigger brush. The actual brush end which you use to put on mascara is about twice the size as my Maybelline mascara wants which I love because I can get ever single lash. The Brush is also long and easy to handle and manoeuvre.
While I do like the brush, I also hate it. I hate it more than I like it. It picks up way too much product, and because the bristles are far apart, it clumps and gloops up between the bristles.
The end where you get the brush out, definitely needs something in place to pull back some of the product that gets on the brush and spills all over. Not only does it make a mess around the brush, it wastes product, and isn’t exactly good for your look either. You definitely need to wipe your mascara wand on a tissue paper before getting to your eye.
It’s really good at giving me big, fat, volumized lashes. but I cannot get over how much it clumps. It’s like the more you brush it, to try to spread the lashes and the product the more you are helping it clump! It also gets tiny little gloops here and there on the lashes which I have to pick out one by one - So annoying!
It also has a lot of fall. As I’m putting it on my lashes it falls down on my under eyes and cheeks like eyeshadow or powder would. I also find that through out the day, it bleeds down to my under eyes and enhances my panda eyes giving them a grey/black tinge. Not good.
As for the waterproof part - Lies! Not waterproof at all. It’s not even sweat proof or eye water proof! Nothing. If its going to go all over my face from a little sweat, i can’t image what water is going to do.
It does come off real easy though- so there is that.
I actually got this free with a purchase so it wouldn't have been my choice as I don't prefer waterproof mascara's but leaving that aside I find the consistency too gluggy, clumpy and heavy on the lashes. It is quite hard to get the brush to come out without clumps already on it. It does add a lot of density like it says it will, though.
I've had this in my mascara stash for quite awhile and after throwing more than half of my mascaras away, I'm left with only one waterproof one! This little baby is fantastic at keeping a curl, smudgeproof, and clump-free. I also love the fact that it doesn't give me spidery lashes!
When you first take out the brush, the formula is quite wet and a lot comes out, but don't fret! Just wipe, wipe, wipe away the excess (as some of the previous reviewers have stated) and layer it onto your lashes. You should be able to get defined, thick, elongated, volumised lashes. Being able to use my curler after I've applied this and it doesn't stick to my curler/rip out my lashes is a major plus for me.
However, the only reason why I'm not giving this a 5 is because in comparison to Maybelline's Colossal series, I feel like Scandal Eyes are just a step behind. Especially because of the fact that you have to wipe away excess formula from the brush to achieve the most optimal outcome.
All in all, I do recommend this product, but not at full price. Definitely grab it when it's on sale!
