I have the translucent Stay Matte powder and it's the best powder I've ever had, although in fairness I've only had a few. This powder is really long lasting and helps to keep my face from looking horribly oily, which is great for me because I have oily-combination skin. I love how this is virtually undetectable from a distance, however close up it does annoyingly cling to every tiny hair on your face (but hey all powders do that). The finish isn't too powdery looking, and it just feels very light and smooth on the face.

This is one of those products that takes the cake for me. Not only is it cheap, it's an amazing product. My only down side would be the packaging. I am not lid - mine seem to come of and break every time. Regardless, my skin is oily and this product is perfect. After applying my foundation with a beauty blender, I 'dot' the powder all over my face using a blending brush by RT. It sets my foundation and gives me great full coverage. It also makes an excellent base for powder bronzers and blush.
I took it with me on holiday to Vanuatu and it even withstood the heat and stopped the rest of my makeup sliding off my face!
Tips: Make sure you tap your brush before applying to your skin to avoid a cakey look
Powder looks flawless on skin and does not look cakey at all. Perfect to put on either alone to get rid of oily skin or together with a foundation. Beautiful look however doesnt cover pimples very well at all when tested alone
I recently changed my foundation to get a more affordable one for saving reasons. I was talked in to getting a setting powder which happened to be the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. I am not normally a fan of pressed powder and the word MATTE scared the daylights out of me. I was assured that this was what the retail assistant wore and that it was the best so in my shopping basket this went. $16.95 is very fair and affordable ans not much money to lose if I don't like it.
I like a dewy finish on my foundation so when I went to use this over top to set it I was hoping it wouldn't make it too matte and make my dry skin appear patchy and even drier. I love that the compact comes with the Rimmel crown logo stamped in to the powder like their other products have. It gives it that much more appeal to me. It's a translucent powder so doesn't add colour or fade to my skin. I use a big poofy powder brush and swirl it gently over the compact. I tap the brush to allow excess to fall away and so that I don't layer my face in powder. I stipple it on making sure I get all of my face.
This powder makes my foundation last all day long with no red cheeks showing through hallelujah! I was scared it would cling to my dry patches but happy happy joy joy it doesn't yay! It doesn't make my skin appear matte at all which is weird considering the name of it. This lasts so long and I am not even denting the compact yet after using it everyday for over four weeks. I actually find that it evens completes my makeup look by making it appear flawless and complete! I am totally converted and will now be giving my setting spray a rest for a bit! A new kid is in town and it's my new fave.
Tips: Stipple it on to get it even and make your face appear flawless.
This is a great product for setting foundation with, it is super affordable and lightweight so doesnt make you look cakey. I do find I hit the pan a bit quicker with this than with other powders but for less than $20 a pop im not complaining!
Tips: Only negative is it doesnt have a mirror :(
Rimmel Stay Matte is an oil-absorbing pressed powder that leaves you with a shine-free complexion for up to 5 hours. Dermatologically tested, this powder also claims to help to minimize the appearance of large pores.
The simple plastic packaging has a twist-off transparent lid with an opaque base and the overall size is slim, making it easy to slip into a handbag for touch-ups during the day or to take on holiday.
I have oily skin, so I used this all over my face to set my foundation and not just on my T-zone and this powder definitely helps to keep my skin looking matte for longer. After applying my foundation or BB cream, I'll set it with Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder on a beauty blender or cosmetic sponge. To touch up later in the day I use it sparingly on a powder brush, as powder can start to look thick and cakey if too much is applied or if there are too many layers.
Tips: The lid may eventually become loose with long-term use. If you're going to pop this in your handbag, place a hair tie around it to make sure that it stays closed. It also means you have a hair tie handy if you ever need one.
I used the translucent powder as i am quite pale and rimmel's pale coloured shades are usually too dark for me. I found that the product worked well and kept my face matte! The powder isn't too think so it doesn't leave you feeling like you have a huge amount of product on your face. My only complaint is that the translucent shade does have a slight colour to it rather than being totally translucent but it isn't an issue.
i find its also good for touching up/blotting throughout the day without going cakey looking. Would buy this again in a heartbeat because it doesnt cost the world and its easily accesible.
Tips: Pat dont swipe!!
This must be the product that i have repurchased the most over all the years I have been into makeup. In fact I currently have three of these floating around in my room at the moment. I would seriously be an oily mess without this powder! I have only ever tried the transparent shade, but I would be interested in buying one of the coloured ones.
The packaging is a bit flimsy. Before I have had the chance to use up all the product, I find that the plastic lid cracks. This means that the lid won't always stay on properly. That's why I always own a few extra so that I have a brand new one with a functioning lid, to take travelling with me.
I usually apply this over my liquid foundation with a big fluffy kabuki brush. Immediately after you apply it you can see that your foundation is now matte and it has been set in place. There are probably powders out there that are more finely milled than this one, but for the price it is good enough for me. I have never looked cakey because of this powder, in fact it helps make my skin look a bit more flawless. This powder is also really good for using during the day to touch up your makeup.
Overall I would be lost without this powder! I'm a student so I love it when I find products that work well and cost hardly anything. This is one of those products! I also like that you can purchase it from most places that sell makeup in New Zealand. Definitely try this if you haven't already.
Tips: Whenever I buy something off ASOS, I add a Rimmel Stay Matte powder to my order. I have seen them as cheap as $6 on there before.
This is the kind of product that I use until the very last crumbly bits and then eagerly delve into the new one I have waiting in line! It's such a great setting powder for my foundation and the finish is great! That being said, I have recently discovered Maybelline's Matte Maker pressed powder and the finish is ever so slightly better. I say this because I feel that the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder has a very light shimmer in it (you may not think this at all), where as the Maybelline one is true matte (in my opinion) and it applies more even as well! But as far as the Rimmal Stay Matte Pressed Powder goes, it was the first Matte Pressed Powder that I owned and I have loved it very much and I would still recommend it to a friend without a doubt. Amazing value for your money!
Tips: Using a large fluffy brush or a kabuki brush etc, dust an even amount of Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder onto the brush, tap off any excess and then pat lightly onto your face. Start from the center and move outwards. At the edges use ,light circular motions to buff out all the edges to prevent a cakey look or a foundation line!
