I was granted an opportunity to try the 'Steel of the Night' colour of Sally Hansen stick on nails, which is similar to a French manicure, but with grey/silver tips. In case you were wondering, this is really nail polish. It even smells like nail polish.
To begin with I found the instructions slightly confusing, fortunately there are 16 tips in the box (two to one strip) so if you waste a one or two (as I did) it won't be a problem. Once I got going I found that this skill was much easier to learn than with a bottle of nail polish and the finish resulted in beautiful clean cut lines. I also really liked not having to wait for the product to dry because often when painting my nails I start doing something else and ruin them.
So overall I really liked this product and though it took a little getting used to, it was easy to use. One thing I will say is that you end up with a lot of rubbish at the end of it. But for a professional looking finish the product it worth the price.
I really hate having to give these a bad review but unfortunately i have to :(
The kit includes a cuticle stick, a nail file/buffer, clear nail polish strips ("the top coat") and black colored tip strips. Just so you know, the strips are the same consistency as stickers....
I found these extremely complicated to apply to my nails, and it took soooo long, nearly an hour!
I received the french mani pack, which meant i had to first apply a black strip to the tips of my nail, and then apply after that a clear "top coat" strip to the entire nail, filing them both around the sides to the shape of the nail to remove the excess strip.
Not sure if it was just my pack, or if i read the instructions wrong, but i only received eight of the black nail tip strips, meaning there wasn't enough for all ten of my nails :(
The black tips didn't want to stick to my nails, they kept shifting around, and when I tried to file them down they fell off and were unusable after that.
The clear topcoat strip also was difficult to apply, and seemed to bubble at the tips of the nail.
It was also difficult to find sizes that fitted all of my nails (maybe my nails are just weird sizes...).
Mine definitely didn't last ten days as i had to take them off immediately as to me these look tacky if they are not perfected and don't fit perfectly to the nail.
Tips: Maybe practice makes perfect? And maybe the nail strips with the designs on them that Sally Hansen also sells wont be as difficult to apply as the French Mani ones :)
