I've always liked silicone based primers, but this one is my new favourite. The packaging is beautiful, I love the simple silvery tube, and the product inside is even better. It applies beautifully to my skin and doesn't leave any kind of residue, although I have to give it ten minutes to sink in before I apply my foundation. As soon as I apply the primer I can see my skin glowing, and that effect remains in a more subdued form after I apply my foundation. I feel that it makes my skin look healthier and more youthful. Since acquiring this I haven't touched my silicone based primers and I doubt I will ever again.

I don't even LIKE glowy-looking skin and I love this!! This product right here, changed my entire outlook on the matte-vs.-glowy foundation debate. Quite unfortunately, in my opinion, I only had a tester of this but you can bet your bottom dollar that when I run out of (any of my current five) primers, this'll be my next purchase. Just, DAMN dude. So, so beautiful. And it did not even make my skin oily. Winning at life, Shiseido.
Tips: You don't need much. Seriously. This is the Bat-beacon in primer form.
This comes in a nice silver tube with a twist top black lid. The primer itself is a white silver colour and nearly looks like it would feel gritty but it’s smooth it has a sheen to it looks so nice. It’s spf 15 as well. So face all prepped and ready to go on with a pea sized amount I just gently smear it around and I’m happy as it does do a tiny blend the blemishes in before I’ve even put on foundation or powder. I do get a little bit of skin illuminating with this as I feel my skin is dull so getting a bit of glow on or a little bit of dewy is good. I like the effect I get from using this and most times I just use a powder foundation over top instead of have quite a dull finish I’m a little brighter (my skin) I found my foundation sits very nice over this. It doesn’t hinder anything when I’m removing makeup off everything comes. I do like the finish it gives me so it get the tick of approval from me.
Tips: Just lightly apply no need to work it in
Like many of the other reviews, I received this as a sample in my BRBB. Being a fan of Shiseido, I was stoked to get this to try as I love anything that helps my dry skin look more luminous.
The packaging for this is really stunning. It comes in a matte silver tube with a black twist off too. The tube itself is super easy to squeeze out product.
The cream comes out white but applies translucent. This adds a beautiful soft luminosity to the skin and doesn't have any glitter in it, it just gives the skin a slight glow. On my dry skin this doesn't feel heavy or greasy and is comfortable to wear throughout the day.
This definitely adds a subtle glow to my skin when I wear it under foundation or BB Cream. The finish is similar to MACs Strobe Cream in my opinion, and I really love this for my dry skin.
If you're looking for a little glow then I recommend you try this or MACs Strobe Cream. His is slightly more subtle than Strobe Cream but it is a beautiful product and the only thing that would make me hesitate purchasing it is the price. It is quite expensive although a little goes a long way.
I received a sample of this in the March Beauty Box.
Consistency - This product was a thin lotion like consistency which was a pearly white colour.
Fragrance - I did not notice any fragrance with this product.
Coverage - This product spreads quite far, I only need a small amount of this product each day to cover my whole face. The sample will last weeks of everyday use.
Price - The full size of this product retails for $65 which is more expensive than what I normally pay for a primer ($20-$45).
Packaging - The packaging is lovely is comes in a sleek silver metallic tube with a screw on lid.
Results - I have used this product with and without makeup. It provides my skin with a nice dewy glow, the effects of this product also work through my foundation. As it is a liquidy consistency I also find this product provides some moisture.
Skin type- I have very fair combination, blemish prone skin. I get an oily t zone but other areas of my face often get dry.
Repurchase- I probably wouldn't repurchase this product due to the price tag However if I could get it cheaper or had a gift card I would consider purchasing,
Tips: A small amount goes a long way.
A silvery sample sized tube sat there glaring at me when the March beauty review beauty box arrived, the first thing I thought when I saw it? "Meh". But how could I be so foolish to judge something so small and so plain when I hadn't even used it?
To begin with my skin on a regular day is normal to combination skin. My T zone can get quite oily and the rest of my face is just normal.
The formula is white and thick, but it absorbs into your skin very easily, a small amount goes a long way, I like to dab extra amount under my eyes and let it soak in for a few minutes before using my ring finger to glide away, it makes a huge difference in filling in those fine lines even though that isn't its main purpose.
The priming power of this is incredible, after priming my skin it feels like a silky smooth canvas, and adding liquid foundation or BB cream just slides over the top, I have been using a stipple brush for foundation and since I have been using the primer beforehand it has made buffing my foundation easier and cut time down.
As for the glow it is there but subtle, I would compare it to wearing a foundation with a dewy finish. And comparing it to wearing foundation with and without this glowing primer you can noticeably see a difference.
The cons with the primer is it does not make my foundation last long and my T zone is very oily by the end of the day.
The pros for this primer is it creates a beautiful silky base for applying my foundation, it gives a radiant glow that isn't overpowering, it fills in my fine lines under my eyes and gives a nice velvet finish after applying my foundation.
When I have the money I will definitely be purchasing a full size of this. Thank you Beauty review for sending this with the March BRBB or I wouldn't even know this existed.
Tips: Applying extra under your eyes and letting it soak into your fine lines before gently dabbing it away. It does an amazing job for masking those fine lines :)
I've finally gotten around to using this after receiving it in a BRBB last year!
What a great little product - I have combo skin with an oily T zone and have really been wanting to try a more dewy finish to my foundation without looking too oily.
This pretty much ticks all my boxes. It's oil free, so doesn't contribute to any excess oil on my skin while giving my skin a soft glow and making it look that little bit younger.
I've been mixing it up with a mattifying primer on my oily areas (or nothing at all, whatever works for you) and it really does soften my whole look. Especially if I don't bother setting my foundation with a primer.
It's encased in a lovely little silver tube with a screw cap and you just squeeze out the desire amount - I don't even use a pea sized amount each time.
The price does put me off repurchasing but I think I just may bite the bullet as I'm impressed with the finish this product gives me.
Tips: If you're rather oily, it might pay to still set the oilier areas of your skin with a powder and leave the rest to just glow.
I received this in my beauty box. I was really excited to try a new one as ive been using my mac prep and prime for about 5 years. I am quite a stickler for holding onto things I like. Anyway, After trying this it goes on beautifully smooth (feels like I should be glowing) and leaves skin feel silky and soft and that's about where the positives end. I tried to apply my foundation after (moisture mist beauty cake) and found the foundation more so just moved around my face rather than staying where I put it. It left a few streaks over my cheeks. And no there was no glow what so ever. After thinking I had done it wrong, I tried again the next day using my mineral foundation. Well this experience was better but still not great. My foundation did last all day but still didn't have any glow. Overall its ok I'd use it again and I would recommend to friends who use a mineral foundation.
Tips: Best with a mineral loose powder foundation.
The March Beauty Box introduced me to this wee primer, which came in a deluxe sample size as a bonus with this box.
So firstly, my skin is combination/dry which tends to get an oily t-zone, and drier patches on my cheeks (especially on the colder months).
This primer is not silicone based at all, which i love because i find the silicon based primers tend to highlight my dry patches-not ideal, especially in winter. This primer seems to feel more like a moisturizer so that's good, and is a thick consistency, like a moisturizer.
This primer surprisingly provides quite a good base for foundation and other makeup products, but i wouldn't say it gives my skin an incredible glow. However, it does give my skin a dewy finish which i love, and is a look i go for, but since most my foundations give me this finish anyway, it defeats the point of using this primer for the glowing purpose.
Surprisingly, although the sample was quite small (maybe 5ml or 10ml) the product actually lasted a long time. So although $65.00 may seem a lot from a primer, i would say it would last a decent time which would almost make it worthwhile.
If you have combination/dry skin like mine this primer is good. Mostly because it doesn't make oily t zones extra oily, is anything it evens the out, and its doesn't highlight dry patches. Perfect. As for the glow, its more of a dewy finish, which is great if you don't already get this from your foundation, but because i do, this aspect of the primer did not impress me.
Overall, i wouldn't repurchase this primer, because the things i like about it i can find in other primers without the price tag.
I recieved this 10ml sample size in my Beauty Box and was hightly delighted for 2 reasons. 1 I had never uses a primer 2 I love Shiseido products
I was not disappointed . The container is a nice little silver tube with black writing and in a red box with lots of french writing (english too) The scent is very very subtile but pleasant. I have dry skin and I found it gave a nice dewey sheen which I really love and cerainly made my base coat spread much smoother than usual. Yes at $65 it is expensive but a little goes a long way and it alsosave on your top base coat. My skin felt really nice and i loved the effect. Thank you for ading this to the Beauty Box as was well worth trying and is a product I will buy in the future.
Tips: strawberry net . com has this for $54
