I bought this palette when I was in Hawaii last year and it's safe to say I don't regret buying it! I chose this palette because it had a row of purple toned colours at the top and a row of neutral/ brown colours on the bottom. Each row of shadows can be used to compliment each other on their own or you can mix and match the browns and purples to give more dimension to your eye look!
Personally, my favourite colours are on the bottom row as I wear brown eyeshadows on a day to day basis! My favourite colour in particular is spontaneous, a shimmery beige/gold which looks amazing on tanned skin!
Overall the pigmentation is very good and the shadows are very buttery. The only shadow I dislike is "catalyst" which is black with a magenta sparkle through it. I would have preferred a matte black or matte dark purple instead because I find the shimmer in this to be a little coarser (not as finely milled) as their other shimmery shadows.
One thing to note is that this palette would not be great for people who love matte shadows as there is only one matte shadow out of the 12 in the palette. However, as I love a bit of shimmer on my eyelids this hasn't bothered me and if I do need matte shadows I have other palettes that meet my needs! :P
Also, I forgot to mention, it comes with a smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in "tetra" which is a gorgeous deep purple with with shimmer. I often wear it on the waterline when I'm wearing brown shadows to add a little pop of colour!
This is the second Stila 'in the' palette that I have bought. The other one I have is in the moment which I think is the most popular and really is such a great palette to own. I bought this because I love purple eyeshadow and because I wanted to own more Stila items.
The packaging of this isn't too amazing. It's a cardboard package which feels on the cheap side and there is not even a mirror. It's a pretty purple colour though, I like the sheen to it.
You get 10 shades of eyshadow in this plus an eyeliner. I have no idea where I have put the liner but I think it was fine to use, nothing that stood out to me as amazing but I like palettes to have extra things other than sponge tip applicators! The colours of this at first glance are very beautiful. You get a few purples plus some bronzes and gold. Once you have a good look though, you realise that it is hard to do a full eye look with this combination. First off, there is only one matte shade and it's a light skin tone shade with barely any pigment. The darkest shade can come off as matte on the eye but it is a lot darker than what I'd want to put in my crease for a day to day look. I've been incorporating an all matte palette to help me be able to use this palette more which I suppose isn't the end of the world but I am the type of person who likes one palette to do it all. I can also forgive that if the colours are amazing. Honeslty, I'm very unimpressed though. I just don't find the pigment to be that great at all. They finger swatch nicely but I don't find brushes pick up the shadow very well at all. I've tried the gold wet, and even that wasn't too great. They are also quite dry in the pan. The only soft and buttery shade in mine is instinct which is a very intensly frosted off white, it's a really nice shade for the inner eye. I love the bronzed shade, whim, but the rest I'm not fussed about at all. They last ok on my eye, they are still there at the end of the day but a bit faded. I also have a little trouble blending them, even with my sigma e35 which usually blends out anything in about 3 seconds.
My palette is less than a year old too, so I can't even blame it being super old for being so bad. Possibly I just got a bad palette. I see other people love these but I could never recommend this one.
