When I picked up my Stila In the Moment palette one of the things that drew me to it was that it came with a purple eyeliner (named Tetra). I was looking to bring a bit of colour to my makeup collection and I find eyeliner a really easy way to jazz up a simple look. The shade Tetra is a really dark purple with a wee bit of shimmer in it. It is really dark so if you wear black often then this won't be too much of a variation from that.
The packaging of this is very nice a sleek. It is a dark purple plastic packaging with the silver words and stars on it, quite pretty. The lid fits on really tightly so nothing is going to dry out. The pencil winds up at the top which is nice, you aren't going to accidentally wind it up. The packaging is very slim and great for travelling with. I do find the winder is quite hard to use as you can wind it for a bit before it starts to come up.
The eyeliner itself looks like one of those gel pencil liners, it is quite thick. It claims to not drag at all but I find it does. They also call it a smudge stick. I don't think that that is an appropriate name, even when you first put it on it is hard to smudge. But it sets really well so I totally standby the waterproof claim. It stays on all day without smudging even on my oily lids. Impressed with that.
So it is a nice eyeliner, but I don't think I'll be purchasing another. Great to have something different though, and a great extra with the "In the" Stila palettes, much better than crappy brushes that you through away.
When I purchased one of my all time favourite palettes - Stila's 'In the Light', it came with a smudge stick. Having never tried these before I wasn't really expecting to be overwhelmed - an eyeliner is an eyeliner right? The palette came with the shade Damsel, which is a matte chocolate brown.
Stila always has packaging that appeals to me and the packaging is one of the things I adore and dislike about this liner. To look at, it is a pretty brown pencil with silver stars embossed in the plastic. It looks adorable and I love it. The pencil is a wind up one and here ism u only gripe with it - once you have wound it up, you can't wind it back down. This is especially useful to know in case you feel the need to wind the entire pencil up - don't! I dont u ne'er tans why Stila did this and it annoys me to no end.
The pencil itself is super soft, extremely pigmented and a beautiful matte, deep brown. One swipe is all you need for a great line but you can build it up if you want to. One of my favourite things about this pencil is that it is super easy to smudge and smoke out before it sets. Once it is set it won't budge but if you are looking for a pencil to perfect a smokey grunge look, then this will be your bff.
Overall I really like this pencil - except for the packaging issue. In all honesty I am not sure if I would pay $25 for it though, but I wouldn't pay that for any eyeliner.mit is a great pencil and I d love it but I'm not sure I would purchase it due to the price and the packaging issue I mentioned above.
