I am a huge fan of the regular Too Faced Melted lipsticks, so when this new range came out, I was very curious to try it, yet hesitant. These are marketed as the more metallic versions of the original lipsticks. Since, I am not a fan of shimmery and glittery lipsticks in general, I tried a deluxe sample which came as a part of "Melt your heart out" set. The set contained a full sized Regular Melted lipstick in Melted Peony and a deluxe sample of Melted Metal in the shade Dream House.
Dream House is an electric bright hot pink with silver shimmer in it. It totally pops and the metallic finish lends itself well with the shade. Though it does contain very fine specks of shimmer, they are not noticeable individually on the lips. It just gives a 3D sheen when the lips catch the light. I found that the lipstick didn't really dry down and settle into a very velvety smooth matte finish, like the regular Too Faced lipstick. I could easily wipe and remove them. These are definitely not the kind of lipsticks that you would expect to last through a meal. But Too Faced never advertised these lipsticks to be long lasting, so do expect it to re-apply throughout the day.
These lipsticks come in the exact same packaging like the regular Melted lipsticks. The outer color of the tube reflects the shade of the lipstick inside. It comes in a squeeze tube with a slanted dispenser on the top. The pigmentation is good. The lipstick color turns opaque after two swipes. It does not bleed or accentuate into fine lines. Also, they don't feel heavy on lips. However, if you compare them with the regular "Too Faced" lipsticks, the regular ones are better than these metallic ones.
I think the formula of the lipsticks is very different than the other shimmery lipsticks out there. If You are someone who hasn't had a good experience with shimmery lipsticks, you can definitely try this range.
I had huge hopes for the Metallic range of Too Faced Melted lipsticks after loving their normal range but it fell a little flat for me.
They come packaged in the same manner as the original versions with the addition of the word metallic on the front of the product name. You just can't fault Too Faced packaging though, it is one of the things they are best for, with the exterior rigid but squeezable plastic tube being the same colour as the lipstick contained, and the shiny lid. Even the applicator is one of a kind, it has a soft cotton type doe applicator that when you squeeze the creamy but thick liquid lipstick up into, comes through little holes and spreads out to make the application easy and seamless.
My problem with it is that the metal shades are just too 80's if you know what I mean, I looked back at myself and thought I should be rocking a vivid pink shell suit with my curly hair in a side pony tail secured with a scrunchie! I purchased Melted Violet and Melted Jelly, both are a purple pink tone with Jelly being slight more on the mauve shade. If you like the old style pearl shimmer type of lipsticks then you will love these Melted metal liquid lipsticks!
Formula wise though they were easy to apply, didn't move around too much, never bleed and settled down on the lips nicely. Lasting a few hours before needing a top up.
