I bought this palette a while ago off Beautylish. Unfortunately they no longer stock this brand! I have the original choc bar palette so while I didn't need this at all, I just really wanted it. I see this on heaps of youtube tutorials and I was just so drawn to it.
First, lets talk about the packaging. It's in a metal tin and it's shaped like a chocolate bar. How could you not love that?? Sometimes, I think Too Faced go a bit overboard on cutesy packaging but I think this is just nice to look at without feeling like play makeup from the $2 shop. This is a slightly lighter brown then the original palette so even though it matches, you can tell the difference without having to open them both up. The magnetic clasp is strong and I don't feel like it's going to let me down and ruin these precious shadows. When you open it, you see a small mirror, and of course the eyshadows. I love that the names are printed on the packaging, the original doesn't have that and it annoys me a lot!
These shadows are such a beautiful mix of neutrals with a blue pop too. You get a lot of mattes plus some shimmer and glitter too. There are dark shades and light shades and enough variety to create a multitude of different looks. Also unless you have been living under a rock, then you'll know these smell delicious. They are infused with cocoa powder and you can smell it too. These shadows are excellent quality, very pigmented and easy to blend. Too faced mattes are such a great formula, they are not chalky at all. My favourite shades are Rum Raisin- a gorgeous shimmery taupe, peanut butter - a perfect warm, peachy transition shade and caramel which is a bronzed amber shade. The black in this palette is one of the most intense blacks I have ever used, you only need the tiniest amount ever! Coconut Crème is the perfect matte slightly yellow base shade or to blend things out. I do wish there was a champagne shimmer for inner corner highlighting. The butter pecan shade is too orange for my liking. Otherwise I feel like this works so well. It definitely has more cooler tones but there is some warmth in there too.
These last well on my lids. I do get creasing if I don't use a primer but I get that from every shadow. I have slightly hooded oily lids so shadow won't normally last long on me.
You definitely wouldn't feel let down by quality if you bought this palette. Do I think you need both choc palettes though? No, not really. I reckon if you like more warm tones, go with the original and if you like more cool tones, go with this one. While I adore my fave shades, I don't think that any of the browns of which there is 6 in here, are anything unique. I'm sure you would have dupes of these in other palettes already.
I managed to score this second hand though barely used off another BR member.. Sigh** Where has this been all my life!!!???
The smell is amazing... although I knew these palettes smelt of chocolate it was still a surprise that it actually does when I first opened it.
The palette is a lovely one. It replicates a chocolate bar (as the pic shows), has a nice weight to it & feels as though it's great quality. It has a nice little mirror on the inside of the lid; although I never use it, I appreciate it being there if the need ever arises.
The colours are fabulous! There's a beautiful mix of shimmers & mattes. I adore them all! There's also 1 matte & 1 shimmery highlight which could be used to highlight the face as well as the brow bone.
I have found these to last well all day. There's very little fall out upon application. The pigment is great on most shades - I find the 2 pink ones to be a little pale, however that could just be my own skin tone fading them out.
I am seriously in love with this palette! I am now saving to get the Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Jelly & the Peach ones!
Come to me my pretties!!!
Tips: Can be used wet & dry!
