My eyelids tend to be more oily so I found this formula to be too runny/oily to work for me. It does help to even the skin tone and my eyeshadow does go on a wee bit brighter but not that noticeably. As for staying power, I don't find it any more effective than using a regular concealer as a base. Again, it's probably just my skin type as I know a lot of people have found this to be great. For me, I'll stick with Smashbox.

This eyelid shadow primer is light, not too thick and holds the colour of shadow all day. It helps the shadow not crease also. Colours look more vibrant. Good size to take in makeup bag when travelling also.
Tips: Don’t put it on too thick and let it dry well before apply shadow but not too long as shadow glides on better when it’s not fully set.
First of all, if you have colouration on your lids, this won't cover it so any eyeshadow that you subsequently apply, may not be true to colour. I've used a number of primers over the past couple of years (NARS, Too Faced, Mac, Lorac & Urban Decay) and this appears to do it's job almost as well as NARS which is my HG primer.
However, my eyelids are oily so I don't get as much wear out of this as I would like. I haven't suffered any creasing with it but I'm not a fan of the squeeze tube. I've occasionally squeezed a bit too much out. Whoops. I usually use this for my daily wear if I'm not breakint out my NARS or my MAC Paint Pot.
Tips: I got a full sized Shadow Insurance Primer as part of a Too Faced set called 'Cause A Scandal' which also included a full size Three Way Liner, full size Better than Sex Mascara and a Boudoir Eyes Shadow Palette from Sephora.
I love this product, I don't know what I did before having it. I got a small sample as a birthday present and I'm desperate to get my hands on some more (which is a bit difficult in NZ but I'll get there).
You only need to apply a tiny amount, and it spreads really easily over the eyelid. It lets any eyeshadw you apply afterwards have a much longer lasting time, and it also gives a greater colour pay-off.
The only slight issue is that there is a clear liquid that separates from the rest of the product so use the tip in another review below and squeeze the tube a few times before opening to mix the product together.
Tips: Use this primer under eye makeup, but if you are feeling lazy then simply use the skin coloured product instead of eyeshadow as it evens out skintone.
I got this eye primer from beauty bay and it works well,
its great at evening out skin tone to create a clean base for your shadows. it does make your shadows appear brighter and more pigmented. my eyeshadow definitely last all day with this and no creasing!
i love the packaging! the blue tube just looks so cool and definitely stands out. the lid is very strong so i know it wont easily break. i also like that the lid (where the product comes out) is very thin so its easier to control how much product you get. which is good because you only need a tiny amount.
the only thing i dont really like about this is that there is this oily clear liquid that separates from the actual primer. it doesnt make a huge difference to the use i just have to work it in a bit more.
its definitely a great product. would re-purchase!
Tips: squeeze the tube before you apply to make sure the product is well mixed together. that way you wont get the separation issue. also you only need the tiniest bit.
I use eyeshadow everyday and know no matter how good the eyeshadow it will start to wear off. This primer prevents that for sure. I used this for an event and my eyeshadow looked perfect the whole night. It is a little pricey considering the amount but it definitely works
Tips: You dont need much with this product so use a little drop for each eyelid
Eyeshadow primers are a must if you want to make your eyeshadow last longer, not crease and appear brighter. I had heard rave reviews about this and so got it when I made an order on beauty bay.
As with everything Too Faced produce, the packaging is adorable. The design on the tube reminds me of old princesses and is really pretty.
Like Urban Decay's primer potion, this comes in a squeezy tube with a long nozzle. It is easy to squeeze out and it doesn't squirt out everywhere.
You need only a small amount of this to fully cover your lids and it applies transparent. It feels a little sticky, which gives your shadow an awesome base to stick to.
This is very easy to apply - what I do is squeeze a small amount onto my index finger, dot it on my entire eye lid and under my lower lashline if I am wearing eyeliner or shadow there. Then I pat it into my skin gently until the entire area is covered.
I really love this, as it does extend the wear and pigmentation of my eyeshadow. After about 10 hours my shadow starts to crease (I have oily lids), but my eyeshadow stays put all day.
Because you only use a small amount, this is going to last me a long, long time. I will definitely repurchase it when it eventually runs out and I recommend trying it.
Tips: Get this from www.beautybay.com as it is far cheaper than purchasing it here in NZ :)
I'm bad at remembering to prime on an everyday basis (I don't have issues with oily lids and creasing so it's not a huge necessity for me) but, when I want to be sure my shadow is going to last all day and be more vibrant this is my go to eyeshadow primer.
I purchased this from beautybay.com (where I get all of my too faced products, they are the cheapest I have found that ship free to NZ so far) after reading great things about it.
First of all, the packaging is very functional and cute (as all too faced products). The squeezable tube and fine tip make dispensing a small amount of product really easy as well as allowing you to get every last drop of goodness out :P Being able to dispense a tiny amount is critical with this primer, as with all primers as only a small amount is needed. Too much and you would be better off not applying primer as it can work in the opposite way than intended with too much product. A tiny dot of this covers the entire eyelid and leaves a nice ever so slightly tacky base for the shadow to cling to. The small amount required makes this product pretty good value for money and I'm sure mine will last me a pretty long time.
I find this primer definitely helps with increasing the pigmentation and lasting power of my shadows which is awesome. If I know I'm going to have a long day or am going out after a long day, this gets pulled out. As I said before I don't really have issues with creasing, but from what I have read this does help prevent this also.
I would definitely recommend this primer and will repurchase when I need to (which will be a long way off with the tiny amount I use).
Tips: Use sparingly for the best effect and purchase off Beautybay.com
Love love love this stuff, makes eyeshadow stay and looks more intense. Wish it was easier to get though.
Tips: Lightly squeeze with lid on to mix so you don't just get the oil. Give it a minute before applying eyeshadow. You don't need too much.
I have the full sized original version of this. I think it comes in a few different shades. I've been using it for the last couple of months.
What I like about this product is first, the packaging. It comes in a nice blue, squeezy tube. It has a screw top lid so it won't accidentally fall off and you can really control how much product you want to squeeze out. This is important as you only need the tiniest amount. I also like that once you rub this into your eyes, it doesn't really show so it won't change the color of your eye shadow.
This does have a weird smell, it's not fragrance, I guess it's just the smell of the product but I've never noticed it before so it's only strong if you put it right up to your nose!
I like to put this on my lids (just using a small dot for each eye), and than I give it a hence to dry a little while I do my brows. Just before I'm ready to apply shadow, I smooth it out on my eye again. I find that it will crease in my crease (lol), and if I don't get rid of that crease than the eye shadow will lock it in so it looks weird.
I have oily lids but I have found as long as I give it that couple of minutes to dry a bit and don't use too much, it will keep my shadows from creasing. However, I don't notice it helping with intensity or locking the shadow on or all day. That why it doesn't rank into my number one eye primer spot. My primer potion is happily sitting in that position!
I'll use this as I'm happy it works to prevent creasing but it's not something I'll buy again. Too face ones amazing shadows and bronzers so I'll purchase those Instead!
