I was really excited to trial the heated eyelash curler. I curled my eyelashes for every event up until a few years back, but those old metal clamps are terrifying! They kink your lashes, jam and are just not a contraption that you want near your eyes. I switched to just juiced up mascara but have never achieved quite the same result as curling first, so a heated eyelash curler was intriguing.
The device is a nice brushed gold colour, which gives it a glam feel. Although it is quite light and feels flimsy in the hand. 2 AAA batteries are required. Flick the switch and the heated pads change from red to clear to let you know when you're good to go. No mucking around or having to test, which is great.
It takes barely a minute to warm up, so it's fast and efficient. It felt a little counter intuitive at first - I had to check the box to see what way to hold it, but it does make sense once you figure it out. I followed the instructions, 10-15 seconds at a time. Two attempts and my lashes were curled to perfection. I think you definitely need more than one go (or just hold it for about 20-25 seconds?) to get a result. The dual silicone pads mean you can curl your lashes without crimping them.
The curl lasted the day for sure. It is a little bulkier than the old school manual curlers, so it did take me more than a few goes to find the ideal spot/position. But that is to be expected. I found it difficult to use on someone else - the button to close the clamp faces you when in use, so the person curling their lashes needs to be confident and capable to do it themselves.
Would I buy this product myself? Probably not. If you curl your lashes every day or a partial to falsies, then sure. It's a relatively cheap investment for lashes that stay curled all day. I'm curious as to how long it lasts with regular use.
So simple, easy and comfortable to use. Would never go back to a traditional eyelash curler. 100% does what it says and my eyelashes stayed curled all day. I'd happily say that now I've discovered this gem I won't bother getting extensions again, I use an eyelash serum and good mascara but the curl you get from this gem of a beauty tool makes it all worth it.
Tips: Shop around, the price varies from place to place.
