$15 for a beautiful palette of shimmer eye shadows – WIN! The part of this palette that I was most pleasantly surprised at the brush which was included. It is long as the length of the tin, one end had one of those usual spongey applications which are ok for smudging, the other end had a halfway decent brush! Colour is more bold when I apply with the brush slightly wet, but it definitely looses a lot of colour over the course of the day. I’ve played with a few of the colours in this palette and am happy with my purchase. Don’t think I would repurchase however.

I got this at Postie Plus for $10, so I wasn't expecting great things. However, it has a good range of colours, the pigmentation isn't too bad. It blends fairly easily, sometimes I would like a higher coverage of colour from the lighter shades, but overall it's a good palette for it's price.
Lately I’ve been loving the W7 range of eyeshadow palettes, not only are some of them amazing dupes for the Urban Decay Naked palettes but they offer twelve great quality eye shadows. The palette comes encased in a pretty purple tin and it has a party vibe to it with the shadow names having a magic and party theme to them and I have to admit I really do love the names. In the Night offers a gorgeous range of shades from silvers to violets with dusky and coppery tones in between. All of the shades are quite blendable and can be used together to create a range of smokey eye looks perfect for nights out. The twelve shadow names, from left to right in the palette are Dusty, Wonderland, Summer, Atlanta, Abracadabra, Top Hot, Razzamataz, Lady Luck, Laura E, Party Pooper, Gate Crash and Bologna. My favorites out of the shades are Wonderland, Summer, Abracadabra and Lady Luck – as usual I find myself preferring the lighter shades in the palette. The eye shadows have a shimmer to them which is great for the party theme the palette has.
However, I also wear some of these shades on their own and think they’re fine for everyday wear too, I think this palette has great versatility when it comes to the shades it has to offer. The colour payoff from the shadows is great. I use every shadow in the palette apart from Bologna as I just find it too dark for me but that’s just personal preference. In the Night is a palette which really does offer something for everyone, the shades it has are suitable for both light and dark skin tones and a variety of bold and subtle looks can be created using them all too.
Have you got any W7 Eyeshadow Palettes in your makeup collection?
I was interested to try these when I heard they were Urban Decay dupes as we don't really get Urban Decay here in NZ.
I went with the In The Night palette because I am always looking for new smokey shades to add to my collection since the smokey eye is one of my most worn looks.
This palette has a nice range of shades with both pale and dark shades as well as a couple of brownish shades. I like a bit of brown on my smokey palette because I sometimes use them to blend, so it means I can just use one palette rather than opening a nude palette as well.
This palette also has some nice blue/purple shades and some greys which are essentials in any smokey palette. Most of the shades also had a nice shimmer to them.
Pigmentation was fine, but could have been better and likewise with staying power. They both felt very average, but at the price that is to be expected.
I would use a primer with this palette to hold the eyeshadows in place and maintain their full colour for longer. But overall a pretty party palette.
I decided to give this a go as it was only $5 at The Warehouse. I've had good experiences with the other palettes in this range but this one just wasn't as good. The palette comes packaged beautifully in a purple tin with gold writing, which would keep the shadows well protected for travelling. There is no mirror inside, but there are 12 eyeshadows which is great for the price and one of those useless cheap dual ended applicators. The palette consists of shimmer and glitter shades but no matte shades, which means you can't really do a complete smokey eye with this. The shades range from pinks to bronzes to purples to silver and black. I loved the inclusion of pinks and bronzes as this made it a bit different to your typical purple based eye shadow palette. The shimmer shades are all very pigmented and very blendable, so this is great for beginners as it is very easy to blend away mistakes. However there is a lot of fallout so this gets messy quickly, especially with the darker shades. The glitter shades are stunning but the amount of fallout is ridiculous and the glitter doesn't show up well on the lid. I found these didn't crease on me very quickly but they do fade quickly, but that is to be expected for the price. Overall, I think this is okay for a beginner and very affordable but there are better palette's out there for the same price.
I brought this for $5 from the wearhouse Talk about pretty colours! I like the look of the tin it definitely gets your attention with the nice colour, it's easy to store away. The shadows don't have amazing pigment or The best colour pay off. They do blend nice and easily. And you can build colours nicely on top. On the bottom of the pallete there is a sticker with all the colours and all the names of the shades.
Got it from Postie + just for a try. Coverage isn't great but does build up nicely if you keep going. Iisn't the best quality but it was only $5 so worth the price. Good if you're practicing or good for a more subtle nighttime look. Has a nice range of colors. Still use it now and again.
I bought this pallete as it was super cheap. The colours are nice. I don't like that there isn't a light base colour. You definetly need to do your eyeshadow before your foundation as the fallout it heaps and messy. If you have your own higher end eyeshadow brushes you can get a decent look with this palette. It's nothing special but good for a beginner or someone on a budget.
I brought this for a great price from Postie Plus (about $15), because it was unlike any of the rest of my palettes (mostly nudes!). All but one of the twelve shadows are satin/shimmer/glitter shades. There are no crease shades, and no plain vanilla shades to use as a base. There are three light highlighter shades- a peachy white, a violet white and a slightly pinky white. The two shades I like the most are typically warm shades- a gold brown (poorly pigmented) and a beautiful copper red-brown which looks really nice on the lid. The matte black is excellent, and actually translates as black- unlike some black shadows which actually swatch as grey. There is a very chunky pink glitter shade, and quite a cool duo chrome purple (the darkest purple in the range). The rest of the shadows are fairly non descript shades of purple/grey with very poor, muddy pigmentation. The shadows aren't chalky but are also not the easiest shadows to blend. I thought this palette might break me out of my comfort zone and get me to try something new. However, I just could not create anything with this shadows which suited me (or which I could even wear in public!). This is probably better suited to someone who loves a lot of glitter and shimmer, as well as a preference for cool toned shadows. This was a great price but was unfortunately not for me and will most likely pass this on.
First the price, I got this on special at Postie Plus for about $10! And being fairly new to wearing eyeshadow it is great. Everyday I have been trying a new look. But if you don't like wearing purple you won't like this. I haven't tried the applicator that come with the metal container but look reasonable quality. I use the applicators I already own. The pigmentation is not deep. Once I am more confident in my application of eyeshadow and have found my best colours, I probably purchase a better product like MAC. But in the meantime I'm enjoying this,
