Love dermalogica. Massive fan however I query - Is this product worth the price tag? I am not convinced. Have purchased and the re purchased this product so I really gave it a shot. It does give a nice smooth skin tone, and the colour is subtle but not sure this product was particularly supper star on its own. I was wondering is it any better than a basic supermarket bb cream as a base layer or other basic primers under make up. I found I needed to use too much for decent coverage and just got frustrated too with seemingly lots left in the tubes. It's is a light product and won't irritate skin. Smell is light and herbal. Packaging typical clinical polished professional dermalogica. So.. Will keep looking for my ultimate primer.. Or come back to this ;-)

Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer SPF 30 Review
Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer SPF 30 Smooth away fine lines, brighten and prime for flawless skin and to prep for make-up application. Velvety silicones combine with Soy Protein to even out skin texture, creating an instantly smooth surface. Prior to trying the Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer SPF 30, I never really understood why you should use a primer, because the ones I had tried didn't give the results they promised. Using Dermalogica Skinperfect Primer SPF 30 was like seeing the light - suddenly it all made sense because my skin really did look flawless. Forget putting it under foundation - this is all I need to make my skin looking amazing. It's subtle tint is perfect for every day AND even though it might seem pricey on first glance, it is totally worth it.
Tips: Apply in a thin layer using your fingers and let it set before applying any foundation!
I've found most primers a complete waste of time in the past until I received a sample of this. It completely evens out your skin tone, your make up stays put all day long and it even smooths out fine lines. It is quite dark and I am very pale but my foundation went on so nicely and didn't move at all so was not a problem. It conceals everything! It really is a amazing product but you do need to use quite a bit and it is very very expensive
I am a big fan of Dermalogica products. I was so excited to try this primer out as no other Dermalogica products have disappointed.
Unfortunately this primer dos not agree with my skin. I do warn if you have sensitive skin please be careful. After applying this to my face my skin started burning and red patches started appearing. The product itself smelt like menthol and it fully left my skin with a burning sensation.
I am highly disappointed and will not be using this product again.
Tips: Steer clear if you have sensitive skin
This was the first Dermalogica product I had tried, and I was so excited about this product because i am on the hunt for my go to primer (and have 6 on the go at the moment). So after seeing this as a highly rated item on BR, i had to have it.. Even though I cringed at the price.
Dermalogica is simply packaged. They keep it clean, simple, and a little boring although it is a sophisticated design! The primer is easy to get out the of tube, but I have not reached the end of the tube yet so not sure if I can get every last drop out, but i sure will try.
So what justifies this hefty price tag? Until I tried the benefit professional, I had no idea primers came coloured, and this is another example. Dermalogica primer is coloured, and could be compared to a bb cream in regards to it’s colour. This means that this primer can actually be worn alone, and even out skin tone, and it actually does do this!! The primer blends out really well, and can even suit darker skin tone like mine without making me look pasty. The texture of this primer is creamy, silky and light weight, and actually leaves a slight shimmer to your skin. This shimmer is so subtle, you can actually see in when you look at the product, its only when its on your face and you a cm away from the mirror that you can see this shimmer, and it gives my skin a really subtle glow making my skin look healthy and luminous! The one, slight downside to this product is the smell. It actually took me a good ten minutes of sniffing to try and word the smell for my review, and I still don’t know if my description gives it justice. It smells lightly like a lavender oil mixed with a fresh load of laundry.. and unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of lavender or things that remind me of lavender (unless its before bed). On a positive note, the smell actually disappears after 10-15 minutes so I don’t have to put up with it for long! Another plus for me is this product has SPF! Yes, this is something all primers should have, and it doesn’t leave a greasy or white residue because of this!! Thank you Dermalogica, you clever thinkers you! Another downside to this is although it provided a smooth base, it only slightly reduces the appearances of fine lines, and the effects don’t last long, especially with those pesky smile lines! Now the reason most of us use a primer, did it make my makeup last longer? Yes Yes and Yes. My makeup looked almost as good when I got home, as it did when I left the house in the morning!
Could this be my perfect primer? This primer leaves my skin silky smooth, and perfect for applying makeup to, or just wearing it on it’s own. Plus it’s the only primer I have used that has SPF. This primer is pretty good, except for the smell, the price and the short term effects of my smile lines. Even with these negatives, this is great primer, but at the moment, its not my perfect primer.. but it’s pretty close!
Dermalogica is one of my favourite brands. The products I have tried have been great quality and perfect for my sensitive skin.
I had my eyes on this primer for a while, when I saw it come up for trial on BR I was rather jealous of the very lucky ladies who got selected!
So I was extremely happy to have this primer in my hot little hands. Did it live up to my expectation? Oh it certainly did.
The packaging follows the look of other Dermalogica products. Stylish and simple, the primer comes in a small tube. My initial thought was that it was quite small for the price tag. But good things do come in small packages!
The formula is tinted and is different to other primers I have used. It is a consistency similar to tinted moisturiser.
The primer feels lovely, and sinks into your skin quickly making it feel silky smooth. It doesn't have that awful siliconey feel like other primers have.
The SPF factor of 30 is great in this primer-perfect to protect my face from the harsh Auckland sun.
After application of this primer I applied my foundation. It really helped with the longitivity of my makeup. It looked fresh and flawless at the end of the day, even a hot summer day!
This is a fabulous primer, and Dermalogica have made another winner here.
Will definitely be recommending and repurchasing on the future.
This comes in a tube which is quite simple also included is a tethering attachment that helps get every last bit of product out fo the tube guaranteed no wastage. A screw top lid of which the product can sit flat on & a nozzle for dispensinformation the product. This is said to have spf 30+ which is an added bonus. I've also used it alone with it makeup underneath. It provides a calming effect & does counteract the redness it also leaves a matte finsih to my skin. It doesn't blur any pores but it does extend the wear of my foundation & my foundation won't start to swear till 2pm from a 6.30 am application so that's great longevity imo.
I received a sample sachet of Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer from Dermalogica and I expected this to be a clear silicone-based primer, like all the other primers I've used in the past.
I was surprised when I opened the sachet to see that the primer looked and felt like a tinted moisturiser with a slightly matte finish. It's a flesh coloured cream that melts and disappears onto skin, leaving a smooth finish for foundation to go over. One thing I immediately didn't like was the smell, it has and almost peppery scent.
As usual, with primer, little goes a long way, so start off with less than you think you need. You can always add more in areas where it's needed, rather than wasting product. I use a matte foundation, I did find it a little more difficult to spread my foundation across my face when using this silicone-based primer, compared to some clear gel silicone-based primers.
To be honest, I'm not utterly blown away by this product. Yes, it's good and it delivers on its promises. It kept my oily skin shine-free for a longer and it made my foundation look smooth and flawless, but is it really worth the hefty price tag? At the time of writing this review, the cost for a 22ml tube is $95. That's $4.32 per ml! (If you need a comparison, NYX Shine Killer primer works out to $1.32 per ml). Unfortunately, I really can't see myself paying that much for a primer, no matter how good it is.
Tips: Use it sparingly. A little goes a long way and at that price, you don't want to be wasting this product.
This product lives up to its description. It goes on so smooth and silky and has enough coverage that if you just want to wear it on its own or with tinted moisturiser, then you can. Under makeup it definitely gives you a smoother finish, and I find my makeup stays on longer through the day. I'm not entirely sold on skin firmness, but given my makeup looks better with it than without I'm sure firmness has something to do with it! It's a must have in my makeup bag.
Tips: Use sparingly - a little goes a really long way Pair it with tinted moisturiser for a lighter makeup day Use the tube squeeze they provide to get all the product out of the packaging
Here's the thing about life - if you're not open to trying new things, you really don't know when you're missing out on something amazing.
I thought I'd found my ultimate primer, I never went a day without it - even makeup free days. And then, quelle horreur, the news broke that it was discontinued. So when I was selected to try this, I was excited, but could anything really compete?
Erm, compete? No. Wipe the floor with? Yes.
First opinion - the packaging is sleek and clinical - it looks more like medicine than the most amazing beauty product in the world. But it's a sturdy tube, it doesn't squirt the product everywhere and it won't take much room in your bag.
So I'm used to primers being white / whiteish - being a tinted primer this looks like a BB Cream. I applied it somewhat cautiously, for fear of looking like an oopma loompa. There are no worries, once applied it warms up your skintone, evens it out, seems to blur fine lines and just makes you look like you - but better.
Makeup application is a breeze - it doesn't matter if you're a BB girl or a foundation girl. You'll find yourself applying it faster and easier than ever before. And it will last the day!
This primer is brilliant for non-makeup days too. Case in point. I recently coloured my hair from blonde/brown balayage to deep purple/vibrant purple ombre - and I have to say my skin looked a little washed out. Hubby said "I'm not sure if it's you." The day after dying my hair my primer arrived. I had to try it straight away and literally had nothing else on my face but the primer. My skin looked warmer and healthier, less sallow. Hubby came home from work, and what do you know, "actually your hair looks really good, maybe it was the lighting". FOR REAL!
What else makes this a wow product? Even the negatives don't make me rate it any less. It's fragranced which I don't generally like in a skincare product but it doesn't last so I can't hold that against it. It's $88. Expensive? Yes. But you use a teeny amount and you will use it daily, so in my eyes, it's worth more!
Seriously - this is THE primer you need in your life. I will be repurchasing for sure!
Tips: Moisturise well beforehand.
Be prepared to fall in love.
