This product is great if you want to build a subtle summer glow if you're too afraid to use awkward to use sprays or don't want to damage your skin in the sun. The cream form helps with an even application, therefore an even tan and you can apply a little or a lot depending on how dark you want to get. Only downfall for me, is the strong scent, staying in your clothing and sheets.

Tips: Wash hands after use and scrub around ankles to minimise unwanted dark blotching.
I can't believe I forgot about gradual fake tans for so long! I used to use them pre-summer to boost the glow and to even out my skin abut for some reason stopped until I saw Dove Summer Glow on special at New World recently. I had a few issues with reacting to spray tans before my wedding so I was a little worried about trying it but thought a little bit at first to test would be ok and the price (on special for $6.49 for the large bottle) was worth the risk! I used the medium to dark skin as I am naturally olive skin toned and used it straight after my shower. It went on so nicely and dried quickly. Unlike other self-tanning products I've used it isn't coloured when you apply so I worried about it being even but as it is gradual, after a couple of days the colour had built up nicely and was very even. I did overdo my knees a little on the third application (and third day) but I used exfoliating gloves and the problem was solved! It smells better than fake tan too!
Tips: The only other issue I had was having to wash it off my palms but not wanting to have patches on the back of my hands. I solved this by wiping the palms of my hands clean using a tissue. Exfoliate and shave beforehand (I have sensitive skin and my skin wasn't irritated by doing so).
I bought this to use as my in between tanner and to top up my usual bondi sands tan. I got it in shade light to medium as i dont like a dark looking tan, im naturally super pale so anything too dark just looks silly on me! I found that even after one application it gave me a noticably darker tan, not orange though it looks super natural! I apply this with my le tan tanning mit(if you havent got one invest in one, seriously theyre so worth it!) Only down side to this is that fake tan smell.
This gradual tanning moisturiser is non-greasy, smells fresh and leaves the skin with a gentle, honeyed glow — not orange at all! I love the natural colour it gives my skin.
Tips: Apply in the evening and wake up with glowing skin!
This is great for those times in winter when you can't cope with those white legs and you are going to the thermal pools in Rotorua or somewhere and you need to look a little sun kissed. It is very subtle and natural it doesn't streak. Your boyfriend will never know, noone will know because it looks so natural. I get the light to medium one in winter and the dark one at the beginning of summer till my legs look brown again. I have pale to medium skin. There's no orange or streakiness in this its better then expensive ones I've tried.
Tips: Rub it in really reslle well and you'll have no streaks. Use the lighter one in winter
This lotion moisturises very well, sinking into the skin and nourishing it, with the added benefit of providing a gentle build up of tan. Use as often or seldom as you like to get the colour you prefer. I did find it would get fairly orange if you went too dark / applied it too often. I'd recommend it but probably won't repurchase it myself as I no longer use fake tanners.
This product leaves an amazing natural tan that you can monitor yourself. If i forget to tan i just had a couple of coats that evening and it looks great!
Tips: Moisturise toes and ankles with normal moisturiser to prevent any obvious self tan marks
This is such a good way to create the gradual tan. I love the colour for my skin tone but hate waiting for it to dry.
Tips: Make sure you wipe your hands after so they dont stain!
This is the original OG gradient self tanning lotion. It comes in 2 shades - light to medium and medium to dark. I choose the fair shade because I am naturally really fair and it gives me a lovely hint of color first time I use it and the color deepens every time you use it so it definitely is buildable. What I like about gradient fake tanners is that it doesn't look super obvious when it's fading and also the results are really natural and not obvious. I love that this does not stain my hands and feet and that it doesn't require a special glove to apply it. The way I use this is apply it normally like I would with a body lotion all over my body in circular motions, making sure I get all of my skin. The downside to this is that there is no color when you put it on so you don't know where you have applied it. This develops in about 8 hours I will start to notice my skin looks a tint darker and more glowy. Generally I liked the results of the gradient tan lotion but I really, really disliked the smell. The smell put me off.. To me it smells really fake tanny and has that distinctive sunless tanner smell. For that I cannot give this lotion a 5/5.
Absolutely love this for the dark Winter, pale days. Works as a great natural glow. I'm very pale and I use the darkest shade, if you're nervous about fake tanning, this is a great first step, as the gradual tan, leaves your skin feeling brown and glowy without being streaky. Does have a coconut smell, which I don' mind
