The texture once on the skin becomes sticky. The cream is smelly, highly perfumed and has a chemical smell. It takes a really long time to dry/absorb on the skin. When it does dry, I found patches and streaky lines all over my legs. I felt like a giraffe - patchy, orange, brown, just a total mess. I kept my legs covered for about a week until it faded away. Never again will I use this product.

I love this product, its my must have for a gradual tan. Great size bottles and easy to find in most supermarkets. The consistency of the product is quite nice and thick and sometimes can be a bit harder to get out of the bottle but it goes on your skin nice and even and it has a bit of a scent but its not too overpowering. When i first started using it i put it on before bed and then had a nice colour in the morning but could remove the smell in the shower it didn't take to long to get used to it and i now quite like it. I find it really good to use everyday to build up a bit of colour and then every second to third day just to maintain. Its a good moisturiser and doesn't leave you orange its a nice natural subtle colour. Worth a try especially for the price.
Tips: Wash your hands after applying otherwise you'll end up with stains in between your fingers.
i actually despise fake tan. The routine itself is exhausting and in my experience no amount of exfoliating or after care pays off- long story short if it doesn’t look terrible it still looks ‘fake’.
This is why I gravitate more towards gradual tanners and usually use them in summer just to top up my natural tan. Other brands of gradual tanners seem to appear orange-ish when I’d use them on my very fair skin in winter.
I hadn’t tried the dove one before but it’s now a regular in my routine. I had no issues even on my super fair winter skin at the beginning of summer (I’ve only tried the medium-dark shade) I apply it at night and am easily 1 - 2 shades darker by morning. If I want to be super tan, I’ll just use it several days in a row but I can easily stay a nice shade just by using it every second or even third night.
The downside? I haaaate the scent. So so much. It’s actually nice to start with but after a while you’ll notice that very strong typical fake tan smell. I am quite sensitive to strong scents and have had to rinse it off a couple times coz I just couldn’t stand it while trying to sleep. I’ll die and go to heaven the day they bring out a scent-free version of this!
You definitely get a lot of product for your money with this purchase, and you also get a lot of tan for your money if the tone it delivers is what you're after, but its an acquired taste in my case.
I'm relatively pale, and cool skin tone, and this 'glow' is very much an orange glow that is quite orange from first application and like the bottle states the colour 'gradually enhances' only continues to get more orange - into Oompa Loompa zone - for me.
It's lovely to apply, but the scent for me was too strong and I continued to smell the lotion through the day to the point I felt self conscious of people coming near me. It also remained tacky until I showered the residue off. As the tan developed I had streaks that rivalled a tigers stripes, and just looked awful. I didn't feel this lotion delivered any hydrating benefits to my skin at all.
Not the product for me unfortunately.
I love the way this smells!! That is probably my favourite thing about it. The issue I have with this is that it takes a really long time to dry completely and the next time I shower I feel like it is still on my skin and washes off rather than it having absorbed when applied but I don't actually know if that's what it is meant to do as the pack it says allow to absorb fully before dressing so I don't expect it to come off again..
Tips: Definitely wash your hands with soap after use and wait for it to dry before dressing.
Unfortunately, this was not a hit for me, and I wouldn't repurchase. I found the scent a bit too much, my partner could smell it, my workmates could smell it. I also found that it was a bit itchy, as I find many self-tanning products. I thought I might be safe this is a gradual product. I also did not find that it was that moisturising. I've had a bottle sitting around my bathroom for a while, and I just don't think I'll get through it.
Tips: Wash your hands after!!! Just because it's a gradual tan moisturiser, doesn't mean it won't stain your hands.
This is my go to moisturiser for a healthy natural tanned look while adding moisture to dry skin. If you want to look darker just keep using it daily until you are happy with your colour. It brightens any faded tan, great in spring when you haven’t seen the sun. Doesn’t streak, a subtle couple of shades darker. I always get good comments when I use summer glow.
Tips: Wash your hands straight after use so they don’t get stained.
I am always afraid of fake tam, even gradual tan moisturiser. I had to give it go though, because my whiter than paper legs need some glowy colour to them for summer months. I don't do tanning in the sun, I love my skin too much for that.
I bought this from my local supermarket on a whim after a friend suggested it to me. The bottle is so cute and even looks like it glows. It has a pop cap top with a hole for the product to be squeezed out of. It's all very normal so far, let's do this!
I showered and exfoliated first to remove any dead skin cells that may hinder the final look. I concentrated alot of the effort around the knee area because that's usually the part that can look orange. After a thorough towel dry I smooth over my legs making sure I get it on evenly. It suggests to wash hands thoroughly to avoid staining hands so after a good scrub I sit in the air to let it dry.
Of course I haven't noticed a difference yet because it is day one of a gradual tanning product. Bring on day two! Here we are showered and exfoliated again, ready to apply to my legs. After letting it air dry I notice an obvious glow that makes my legs look sunkissed and less pasty! Oh I like this.....but when do I know when to stop?
I continued on this same cycle for 7 days. I think by now I can stop because my legs look rather tan and like I am happy and confident to show them to the world without scaring the sun away. After stopping at a shade that I am happy with I wonder how long it will last before I need to start the cycle again. 5 days later it's time to reapply. For me it didn't last long but for an affordable price and a little bit of effort without sun damage, I am hooked. I shant go back to instant tan or sunbathing. This here is where my loyalties lie. I salute you Dove!
Tips: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!
I purchased this knowing it was a ‘tinted moisturiser’ hoping it would make my legs look tanner. It takes about a day for it to make your legs look darker after putting it on and if you rub it in properly you don’t get streaks or blotchy patches which I like. It has an okay smell to it so I will use it again if I need too.
Tips: Put a decent amount on and make sure you rub it in properly by you ankles and especially at the back of your knees
I like this product to build a gradual tan on my legs. Haven't had much success with it on other areas. As with all tanners you need to pay attention to areas like your knees and ankles. The smell and consistency is great and I always have some in my cupboard.
Tips: Make sure you wash in the creases of your fingers when you're finished so you don't get a line of fake tan like me haha!
