I was incredibly excited to receive Dr. Lewinn’s Retinol + Beauactive Renew Serum to trial. I am on a mission to find the right anti-ageing product(s) for myself, and the previous serum I tried turned out to not be very effective in the long run. The serum comes packaged in a nicely designed cardboard box, which contains all the information you need on how to use the serum. Most of the instructions are also repeated on the serum bottle, which I really like as it means you do not need to keep the box if you are unfamiliar with a serum. The bottle itself is nice and sturdy, and comes with a dropper which is very easy to use. The dropper is needed to remove the liquid serum from the bottle and put a few drops onto your fingers to then apply the serum to the face and decolletage. The instructions say to use 1-2 drops, but I found that I need more than that just to cover my face. The serum has almost no smell, and it is easily applied and absorbs into the skin very quickly. I like how the serum feels on the skin, and how easy it is to apply. Unlike other products with retinol that I have tried, I had no issues using this serum twice a day right from the start. There was no redness or dryness from the retinol, which is most likely due to the unique formulation used in this serum, which means that the retinol is encapsulated and it is therefore meant to penetrate the skin without irritation. However, as with all retinol containing products, it is very important to use sunscreen every day as the skin will be more sensitive to the sun. Although this trial was 4 weeks long, it is still hard to tell if any of my fine lines have actually been smoothed, or if my skin is any firmer. However, I feel like my skin does look very good at the moment, and I will keep using the serum twice daily. I feel like the overall positive effect on my skin so far indicates that the serum works, and I am keen to see how much of a difference it will make in a few more months. I definitely think this works better than the previous serum I have used, and I really like the fact that the encapsulated retinol causes no skin issues.

Tips: If you’ve had any issues with retinol before, I would recommend giving this serum a go because retinol is supposed to be the best anti-ageing ingredient currently available, and this serum makes it safe to use.
Beauty Review introduced me to Dr Lewinn's about 8 years ago, and the brand never disappoints! This serum is as good as any other Dr Lewinn's product I've tried.
I found it really hydrating, so soothing and refreshing to use at night. I was surprised by how silky and thin the serum was.
It coats the skin like a veil, it doesn't absorb right away, but it doesn't sit in an oily mess either. I use it right before bed and wake up to the softest skin possible.
Over the weeks I defintiely think my skin looks more refined, smoother and brighter.
The only reason I've marked it down is the RRP of around $80 is pretty steep, but if you can afford it...do it!
Tips: It is quite runny so be careful not to over-dispense!
I am always a fan of a dispenser on a face product bottle, love the fact my fingers aren't dipping into the product all the time. The dropper top gives you just the right amount of product to cover your face and neck. I feel that the 30ml bottle should last me a good 3 months which is a good amount of time for a face product. The serum itself has an almost water like consistency and is very light. It does take a few minutes to absorb into my skin but once absorbed there is no tightness like I have experienced with other serums though it does need a moisturiser added after. I have found that my skin looks more hydrated since starting to use the serum and it definitely seems to have a bit more of the glow I had in my younger years. I'm looking forward to seeing what effect a further few weeks of usage will have on some of my fine lines around my eyes and mouth.
Tips: Apply then leave for a few minutes before putting moisturiser over top
I was really keen to trial this product. Firstly because I love Dr LeWinn’s skincare and secondly because retinol is popularly known as the go-to ingredient for anti-aging benefits, like reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, evening out skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
The serum is comprised of encapsulated retinol, a version of retinol that is time-released and has fewer side effects. It enables the retinol to penetrate more deeply into the skin. Dermatologists state that this serum is 5x more effective than regular retinol alone. It’s also infused with Beauactive that boosts collagen and improves skin texture. The lightly fragranced serum comes in a bottle with a lid that has an air button which draws the liquid up into an eye dropper. The dropper provides the right amount of serum to use every time. I love the fact that the serum is both oil and alcohol free.
My face and neck have lost elasticity over time due to intrinsic aging, Winter is never kind to my skin and I need something to address dry patches and uneven skin tone. Extra ‘glow’ for my dull skin would also be a bonus. As retinol can cause redness and dry skin I worked it into my routine for a few nights then built it up to every day/evening as my skin tolerated the formula. After cleansing I gently massage two to three drops of serum into my skin, leaving it for a minute or so to absorb before applying moisturiser. I also apply SPF 50 sunscreen in the mornings to protect my skin from sun damage. The serum absorbed very quickly. It’s lightweight and feels like silk on my skin. It went well with my other skincare and provided a good base for my makeup. I have experienced no irritation or breakouts after daily use.
After four weeks of using this product my skin feels hydrated and smoother. It has plumped my skin and as a result patches of dry flakey skin on my cheeks have softened and my fine lines are less noticeable. Even my pigmentation has improved slightly. Deeper wrinkles around my mouth and on my forehead will require ongoing usage but hey I am loving the results so far. I wake up in the morning with brighter more even-toned skin. I will continue to use this serum and look forward to continued results after 2 - 3 months of consistent usage.
Tips: I would advise a patch test 24 hours before using it on your face and then build usage up slowly.
I really enjoyed this retinol product. Product packaging is elegant and of high quality. It has an unusual dropper dispenser that I haven’t come across before but it seemed to work well. It has a light scent which I loved. It smelt of high quality if that makes sense. One thing I did notice was that my skin drank it up quickly (even after applying hydrating toners prior) and the recommended 2drops in the instructions was hardly enough. My skin is on the thirstier side which may be why. I use about 1/3 of the dropper to lightly cover my face. 2 drops I couldn’t even sufficiently cover one cheek. Due to the price and how much you need to use this would make me hesitant to recommend it or purchase again without considering price. That would be my only negative on this product. It left my skin feeling slightly softer upon application which is always nice and after the 3 weeks it definitely looks a bit more glowier. Retinols can take longer to show results so I’ll continue to use and decide at the end of the bottle whether or not to repurchase. Found this GREAT and soothing for sensitive thirsty skin so could definitely be worth the price tag if that’s something you struggle with and want to try a retinol. Overall an amazing little serum. I’d be interested in exploring their other products as well.
Tips: Use more than suggested if you have to. Apply hydrating toner beforehand. For sensitive skin If you’re finding it too much introduce slowly starting 1 day a week and “sandwich” between layers of your moisturiser. Retinols can be hard to introduce to sensitive skin but not impossible. Always use sunscreen….even more important when you’re using retinol products.
Overall I really enjoyed using this serum. It has a really nice, lightweight consistency and isn't oily at all in texture. I used this primarily as a night serum, using it a couple of times a week and slowly building up to ~4 times per week over a few weeks. I thought my skin was looking brighter and more firm after 3-4 weeks of using the serum, though I would want to test it out for a little longer to really put the product's other claims to the test! I particularly loved the packaging of this one - the push down dropper on the lid is really neat!
Tips: As this one contains retinol, make sure you only use it a couple of times a week to start, until you build up some tolerance. Also make sure to use a sunscreen every day!
I’m a big fan of Dr Lewinn’s Reversaderm range and this serum comes close as a really nice serum you can use morning and night.
It’s quite a thin textured liquid and milky in colour. I found the dropper gave out more than I needed so I only gave it a half squeeze. There was no adverse reaction or tingling which I was anticipating due to the high retinol content and I’ve happily used this for almost a month.
Have I found less wrinkles and reduced sun spots like the claim on the bottle? Maybe very slightly - but the biggest thing I’ve found is my skin is a lot more hydrated and definitely clearer, especially around my nose which I’m pleased about.
Because it’s a liquid texture this bottle will last a lot longer than my current serum but I’m not sure I’ll purchase again as it seems to be around the $50 mark. For now though I’m enjoying my skin’s condition as it’s really hydrated and I have an overall dewy complexion.
Where to start... this serum is just lovely and ticks so many boxes! I saw an improvement in my skin straight after first application. My skin appeared plumper, brighter and those fine lines disappeared! My pores also looked smaller! It doesn't last long though, after a while I notice the magic slowly disappearing. Fine lines returning but face still appears somewhat plump and bright. I seriously loooove how light it is, especially for a serum. You don't feel it on your skin as it soaks right in. It has a very light fragrance that I love as I am very sensitive to smells. You don't need to use a lot as it spreads easily. I'm not crazy about the idea of using a product containing Retinol during the day as we were taught not to. I didn't like the applicator, it definitely isn't easy to use, it can be improved. It is a bit pricey but on the other hand this one product gave me the same results that all my other serums combined do. I would like to pair this with a moisturizer and or other products from this brand to see if it would maximize the results.
I was lucky enough to trial this Dr LeWinns Serum, and it is the first product from this brand that I've tried.
Firstly, the packaging is nice and I love the bottle. The dropper bottle has a soft squeeze top lid which makes for easy application of the product. The serum itself is milky in colour, and I really liked that the serum isn't sticky, thick or oily like some other serums I've tried. It absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't leave any type of greasy residue. After using this at night, I would wake up with my skin feeling soft and hydrated.
No irritation - it was very gentle on my skin. Also, when I had blemishes, this didn't sting or aggravate them. I actually found that this helped to reduce the redness of any pimples.
It has been a while that I've been using this now and I think it has made my skin appear more radiant and hydrated overall. My skin texture seems to have improved, but I haven't yet noticed any reduction of fine lines. This may come with more time using it.
As this product was not yet on the market when I have trialed it, I am unsure of the price point so I can't comment on whether I think it is good value for money, however I would imagine that it would sit somewhere between the $50 - $65 range (which I would be happy to pay).
Great product and I intend to keep using it!
Tips: Only apply a little bit- it goes further than you probably expect.
I received the Dr. LeWinn’s Serum Series – Retinol + Beauactive Renew Serum and have been using every day. I have noticed my skin is very glowy and my fine lines have appeared to reduced due to the plumping of skin and reflected glow it gives off. You only need a couple of drops as it spreads and absorbs very easily.
After saying this, I really found the dropper hard to hold and press the nozzle at the same time. The serum would come out with a hiss and a roar and you end up with way too much. I personally think this is problem with design as other products have a friendlier dispensing top than this.
I also trialed the serum on my had where I have brown sun spots and I found that with the daily use the one large spot separated into two spots to proved that it was working. I also noticed I had less pimples over this time which is also a bonus!
I would highly recommend this product but really didn't like how you had to dispense it.
Tips: Only draw up the bare minimum so you don't waste extra product when pressing the dispenser nozzle.
