In a generous 150g tube and a subtle lemon colour, Dr Lewinn's Facial Polishing Gel boasts a "clean" fragrance which is perhaps a little "sweet" for my liking. I read the contents "jojoba wax beads" and promptly checked their safety - not to be confused at all with microbeads I was told. Aloe vera and German chamomile made for a nice product which slides on very easily to dampened skin. There is not an overload of "grit" either and skin definitely feels very clean after the gel is rinsed off. I found the product very runny though, all too easy to use far more than necessary. My skin felt very thirsty soon after the cleanse, almost yearning for a good, penetrating moisturiser. I did use this each second day, probably too often for my older skin which is dryer than I would like, therefore I now stick with once-weekly as the gel seemed just a little harsh. However, definitely worth a try and I would suggest oily complexions will benefit with regular use of this facial polishing gel.

Tips: Open with care, the gel certainly rushes out and it's all too easy to pour too much product in one squeeze.
This is definitely by far the best exfoliator I have ever used, and I have used many exfoliators over the years! Although the price point may put some people off, a little bit of this product really does go a long way, and the product amount you receive of 150mls is generous. When I can see the benefits a product is also giving me, I am more than happy to repurchase – and I will be! I have normal to dry skin which is semi-sensitive at times with mild redness, and I have been using this exfoliator twice a week in the mornings. It leaves my skin feeling so rejuvenated and fresh – the natural herbal extracts and nutrients are likely to help as they mention these ingredients assist with added skin conditioning. I love the feeling of a fresh well cleansed face in the morning! I then follow the rest of my skincare routine – moisturizer, primer and then foundation. This exfoliator helps my foundation to apply like a dream – so smooth and flawless. My face is left baby smooth every time and remains that way for a few days hence why I only need to use the scrub around twice a week. The scrub itself is very gentle. I find the scent very light – a slight fresh scent with a mild banana scent. The exfoliating beads are soft, but they provide an effective deep clean, leaving my face feeling very light and glowing with radiance. This product did not irritate my skin, and it had no redness once the exfoliator was washed off my face.
Tips: Tip: Remember to give the product a light shake as it tends to coagulate on the bottom and go easy on the amount you squeeze out as you can't replace it.
I found it to be one of the best exfoliating gels I've use. Although it could be a little pricy for some people at rrp $55 you only need to use a little bit as it goes a long way, definitely worth every cent. It left my skin feeling clean and smooth to touch. I really like the fragrance The scent is subtle, and exfoliated really well.
Tips: For normal/dry skin use once a week. For combination/oily skin use three to four times a week.
I was given this product to trial by BR, and was quite excited, as Dr Lewinns have a very good reputation.
It comes initially in a plainish box with Dr Lewinns Branding outlining the name of the product and the ingredients, which are Jojoba Wax beads (which answers the question of how it exfoliates), Aloe Vera and Chamomile Extract. Inside the box is a classy looking plastic bottle with a flip top lid. The bottle is transparent so you can clearly see the product inside and know when it’s running low, which I really like.
The product itself is pale yellow. It is thick with beads. The beads disperse once mixed with the water and don’t feel to heavy or scratchy. It has a subtle clean scent that I like. As per the instructions, I have been using it in the shower in the mornings, massaging it into my damp skin as recommended. I feel that it cleans my skin very well without being abrasive. I have been using it daily (the recommendation is for once per week for dry skin like mine), and the extra use hasn’t done any harm that I can see. I must add that my skin isn’t usually sensitive though. After drying, my skin feels clean, plump, and soft, with the same smooth feel that other products with waxy ingredients leave on my skin. My complexion definitely looks more even after use. I’m hoping it will eventually improve the skin on my neck with regular daily massaging.
I use, and have used, a lot of exfoliants and I think this is above average, particularly as it isn’t rough and doesn’t dry my skin. It claims to polish the skin to reveal a fresh and glowing complexion. I think it achieves this well, considering my skin is mature.
The product also claims to use natural herbal ingredients and nutrients for added skin conditioning, and I like that.
To be honest, I would have been prepared to purchase it again until I looked up the price - $55. While it is a very good product, I couldn’t pay $55 for it I’m afraid. Having said that, you only need to use a small amount at a time (pea sized amount) so the tube will last for ages, if you want to lay out $55 initially.
Tips: Use as directed and follow with your daily moisturiser.
I have enjoyed using the Dr Lewinns Facial Polishing Gel.
It is a lovely exfoliant that you can use every couple of days. The Jojoba wax beads are nice and small so it feels like your skin is being polished but its not rough. My skin feels clean and fresh after use and it does not leave my skin feeling dried out.
The product does have a fragrance however it is quite fresh and light, it smells kind of like cucumber. I personally really like it.
The packing is very simple but effective, its a flip top type lid and the tube with the product in is super soft so its very easy to squeeze out. It also seals nicely so you can leave it in the shower and its doesn't get water leaking in.
Overall I really like what it does and will definitely continue to use this scrub.
Think I am going to have to try this on my partner as well, he secretly loves it when I make him try new products too!
I have had a few problems with exfoliators this year and skin sensitivity so I was a little apprehensive trying this. My skin can be described as sensitive and otherwise is relatively normal. I do get a little oil on my nose but that's about it.
Reading the directions they suggested I use this once or twice a week and that is what I have been doing. This product has been wonderful to use! No skin sensitivity issues and I feel it is actually doing that it said it would do. The beads are super fine but there is a lot of them so the exfoliate effectively. My skin is left feeling clean and smooth but not tight and dehydrated.
My partner who has oily, acne prone skin has also been using and enjoying it too.
This is definitely a product I will re-purchase.
Tips: The product is quite liquidy so be careful when opening that you don't over do it and end up with a handful of product. A little goes a long way.
I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial this incredible product in a trial team, thank you BR! Anyway, this product claims to be a gentle facial polishing scrub that will 'slough' the dead skin off your face without irritating it. I can definitely say this is true, I love using it. The one thing I'm not such a fan of is the price - $55 but I do suppose it comes in quite a big tube with 150g of product. You can find this product at Farmers, selected pharmacies and online.
First off, the packaging - this comes in a nice, clean looking cardboard box and inside is the tube (obviously!) which is squeezy and made from clear product so you can see how much is left at all times. It does make it a little hard to control how much product comes out, sometimes I found a bit too much squeezed out but that's not a big issue. The smell of this product is also interesting - kind of banana smelling, it reminds me of a Cotton On Body store for some reason? But it is nice, quite strong but not a bad scent so I don't mind too much. Just something to consider if you don't like strong scented products or are sensitive to smells. It has a runny consistency for a scrub, with lots of tiny beads that I believe are made out of jojoba wax. You only need a tiny blob of scrub (about the size of a 10c piece) and then you just massage into your face using circular motions. I have combination skin and get dry patches in winter, and I found this helped keep my dry patches at bay as it both exfoliated dead skin off and didn't strip my skin of moisture. My skin felt baby soft afterwards! I use this every 2nd or 3rd night, and after use apply a thick moisturizer so it really soaks into my skin overnight and I wake up with perfect skin ready to apply makeup.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this product. I think it would suit all skin types nicely, as it leaves your skin baby soft and free of dead/dry skin but not stripped of moisture. Sure, it is a bit pricey, but if you are looking for a good, gentle yet effective facial polishing scrub this might do the trick. You do get a good bit of product for the price and you only need a tiny amount each time anyway.
Tips: A little goes a long way, and you can always add more so start with a small amount!
First of all, this product smells divine! From the moment I opened the lid I fell in love, and it just kept getting better.
The consistency of the gel is thinner than I had anticipated, however that made no difference to the use of the product. Dr Lewinns has created a facial polishing gel that really is gentle on the skin, whilst also being extremely effective in the exfoliation process.
I have often found that exfoliating can be quite harsh in the skin, leaving it sore and red, but that is certainly not the case here. After using this product my skin felt soft, refreshed and smooth.
Tips: - With my skin type I found using this product every second day was effective. - I found using Dr Lewinns Facial Polishing Gel during my shower routine was the easiest method. It was much easier to make sure all of the exfoliating beads were washed away whilst in the shower. - Due to the thin consistency of the product, it is important to be careful when opening the tube. Open it cap up so as to avoid product waste. Also take care when squeezing onto your hand as more product can come out than intended and needed.
I was lucky to be selected to trial this product and was really pleased with it! The packaging is simple yet sophisticated - what I would expect from Dr. Lewinns. The product comes in your typical squeezy tube with a pop-open cap, easy to open with one hand.
The consistency is quite thin in comparison with exfoliating products I usually use which I liked as I didn't find it as harsh. The scent reminds me of lemon sorbet or margarita - which is cool with me!
I have normal-dry skin, I used this product 2-3 times a week (more than advised) and had good results. I have recently been struggling with my forehead being covered with those little spots that never seem to eventuate into anything and are impossible to get rid of - when I began using this I had at least 10 and now I am down to 4!
This product has made me want to try more Dr. Lewinns products!
Tips: Dont need to squeeze the tube much - the consistency of this product means it flows quite easily.
It was my lucky day when I was selected to review Dr Lewinns Facial Polishing gel - thank you Beauty Review! It is a rare treat when I purchase what I consider 'expensive' skin care and makeup treatments. At $46 RRP, this is one of those! The gel comes in a generous size, and is lemon coloured, fluid yet thick, so you don't need very much for your face. A 50c blob on wet hands covers my noggin and gives plenty of paste to massage in. There are 2 points that strike me about this exfoliater - The delicious smell and the exfoliation component. The fragrance is a coconutty pineappley bananaey yum, smells edible. In saying that, I had no reaction whatsoever - some fragrances make me sneeze or break out. The exfoliation is very good, but I wouldn't say it's 'gentle' as it lists on the box. After using a very gentle exfoliator - so gentle I couldn't feel any roughness - this is like liquid sandpaper by comparison. The paste is full of very fine abraiding beads, which I understand are jojoba esters. It forces me to take time and slow down my face routine, so as not to be too rough. After the roughness, the skin feels very smooth, but not tight or stripped of oils, which I did not expect. Overall I really like this gel and I would use it again. However, I'm not sure if we will have the opportunity as unfortunately I discovered that this product is on the microbeads hit list as it contains polyethylene. Hopefully Dr Lewinns review the formula so we can continue to use Club Tropicana in the future.
Tips: Use it anywhere you have dry skin
