Have been using this for years! Love the way it is scrubby without being too harsh. You can easily use this 3-4 times per week without feeling like you are overdoing it. My only qualm is with the price. I never buy it full price as I cant justify the $55 odd dollars for what it is (priceline in Aussy always have unboxed specials for approx $20 which is where I get mine from - after all who keeps a box?).

Tips: Circular motions, don't use too much product.
As a preface I will say I have sensitive skin. I'm lucky in that I don't suffer acne but there are days when products I put on my skin will just make it cray especially in the winter.
Right now my skin's super dry. (Normally combo through the year) I've been layering oils, serums and literally anything that will help it stay supple.
So when I got the invite for this scrub that clearly stated "Gentle exfloliant" I was jumped at the chance. Anything to slough off those winter scales right? I have a few stubborn dry patches on my face right now that won't seem to shift and I had hopped that maybe a mechanical scrub might be a winner.
The package arrived yesterday and I hadn't washed my face yet so I thought PERFECT i'll give this a go! It smells lovely, a very very calming scent and it squeezes out in a gel texture - it reminded me of the clarins orange scrub which i'm actually a huge fan of but don't currently have sitting in my stores.
Unfortunately that's where my love stops. It felt a little too harsh on my skin almost as though it was scratching it. Now that may have been due to my skin just having an awful time this winter. When I patted my skin dry it felt very very tight and I had to layer on the products. Even after that I still had that horrible tight feeling.
Unfortunately I'll need to pass this on to the Mr who loves a good scrub but its sadly a miss for me. Perhaps when my skin clears up and isn't so dry i'll be able to use it but right now it just isn't the right fit.
5 kisses because it did say what it would do and slough of skin and i'd recommend it to ladies who don't suffer dry skin.
Tips: Don't apply too much pressure. It's quite "scrubby" so you'll only need a tiny amount and light pressure to get this working for you.
In a generous 150g tube and a subtle lemon colour, Dr Lewinn's Facial Polishing Gel boasts a "clean" fragrance which is perhaps a little "sweet" for my liking. I read the contents "jojoba wax beads" and promptly checked their safety - not to be confused at all with microbeads I was told. Aloe vera and German chamomile made for a nice product which slides on very easily to dampened skin. There is not an overload of "grit" either and skin definitely feels very clean after the gel is rinsed off. I found the product very runny though, all too easy to use far more than necessary. My skin felt very thirsty soon after the cleanse, almost yearning for a good, penetrating moisturiser. I did use this each second day, probably too often for my older skin which is dryer than I would like, therefore I now stick with once-weekly as the gel seemed just a little harsh. However, definitely worth a try and I would suggest oily complexions will benefit with regular use of this facial polishing gel.
Tips: Open with care, the gel certainly rushes out and it's all too easy to pour too much product in one squeeze.
I was given this product to trial by BR, and was quite excited, as Dr Lewinns have a very good reputation.
It comes initially in a plainish box with Dr Lewinns Branding outlining the name of the product and the ingredients, which are Jojoba Wax beads (which answers the question of how it exfoliates), Aloe Vera and Chamomile Extract. Inside the box is a classy looking plastic bottle with a flip top lid. The bottle is transparent so you can clearly see the product inside and know when it’s running low, which I really like.
The product itself is pale yellow. It is thick with beads. The beads disperse once mixed with the water and don’t feel to heavy or scratchy. It has a subtle clean scent that I like. As per the instructions, I have been using it in the shower in the mornings, massaging it into my damp skin as recommended. I feel that it cleans my skin very well without being abrasive. I have been using it daily (the recommendation is for once per week for dry skin like mine), and the extra use hasn’t done any harm that I can see. I must add that my skin isn’t usually sensitive though. After drying, my skin feels clean, plump, and soft, with the same smooth feel that other products with waxy ingredients leave on my skin. My complexion definitely looks more even after use. I’m hoping it will eventually improve the skin on my neck with regular daily massaging.
I use, and have used, a lot of exfoliants and I think this is above average, particularly as it isn’t rough and doesn’t dry my skin. It claims to polish the skin to reveal a fresh and glowing complexion. I think it achieves this well, considering my skin is mature.
The product also claims to use natural herbal ingredients and nutrients for added skin conditioning, and I like that.
To be honest, I would have been prepared to purchase it again until I looked up the price - $55. While it is a very good product, I couldn’t pay $55 for it I’m afraid. Having said that, you only need to use a small amount at a time (pea sized amount) so the tube will last for ages, if you want to lay out $55 initially.
Tips: Use as directed and follow with your daily moisturiser.
I have enjoyed using the Dr Lewinns Facial Polishing Gel.
It is a lovely exfoliant that you can use every couple of days. The Jojoba wax beads are nice and small so it feels like your skin is being polished but its not rough. My skin feels clean and fresh after use and it does not leave my skin feeling dried out.
The product does have a fragrance however it is quite fresh and light, it smells kind of like cucumber. I personally really like it.
The packing is very simple but effective, its a flip top type lid and the tube with the product in is super soft so its very easy to squeeze out. It also seals nicely so you can leave it in the shower and its doesn't get water leaking in.
Overall I really like what it does and will definitely continue to use this scrub.
Think I am going to have to try this on my partner as well, he secretly loves it when I make him try new products too!
My first though when I opened the courier bag was that the packaging was the typical sophisticated, lovely looking packaging I've come to expect of Dr. Lewinns products. The bottle itself is quite pretty, and I like that it is see through, so you can see how much product you have left. The first time I used it, my immediate thought was that the scent wasn't really my thing - I don't hate it, but it's not a smell I would go out of my way to be around. As far as the feel of the product, it's a lovely gentle wash with a slight exfoliation to it. If you are the kind of person who wants a heavy duty in depth exfoliation, this is probably not the one for you. But this would be great for people with acne, or redness, as it wouldn't aggravate those conditions. The first time I used it I actually found my skin felt a little dry and tight the day after I used it, but on subsequent uses I didn't get that feeling, so I'm not sure what was going on there. I used it twice a week, as I have some dryness and redness and didn't want to overdo it. Overall, I think it's a nice product, I don't think I would pay that price for it, but I would use it again if I was given it xx
Tips: You only need a really small amount xx
I love exfoliators - does anything make you feel as fresh than giving your skin a good scrub?!
I've always been impressed with Dr Lewinn's products, so I was excited to try this, and wasn't disappointed.
The gel is quite fluid, I found I continually ended up with more product than I needed due to the upside down tube. In the shower it meant quite a bit of wasted product as it just fell through my hands. A smaller opening would have been better perhaps?
Anyhoo, excess product aside, the polishing gel was quite lovely to use. The 'scrubby' bits were small and gentle, but you could feel them working. You can't really over-scrub with this, you can apply a lot of pressure and it doesn't feel too abrasive.
The scent is gorgeous, it's slightly floral, but not overly and it gives me major deja vu, but I can't place it!! Everytime I use it I think 'what is that smell?' and the mystery has yet to be solved!
I found the scrub really brilliant for my oily chin and nose crevices, they were left clean and didn't feel over stripped. Equally my dry cheeks and forehead felt flake-free but not over dry. Winning.
All up, I really, really, really like this scrub, the only reason I've marked it down, is the packaging results in a product loss and mess. Nonetheless this is a great scrub and one i would happily recommend.
Tips: Be conscious of the packaging and use sparingly.
Leaves my skin feeling fresh clean and smooth, I got this through flybuys rewards and hadn’t yet tried it. I haven’t gone through much of the bottle so it lasts ages. I only use it once a week as I don’t want it to dry out my skin and I also noticed when I tried using it more I had red spots maybe from the texture maybe I washed to hard that day I’m not 100%.
I needed a new exfoliator, and after my eyes watering at the new price of my usual brand decided to do some browsing. As luck would have it; this was on an amazing sale at Chemist Warehouse, I’d heard good things about the brand so decided to try it.
The packaging is standard with nothing noteworthy, but the product inside is awesome! It smells great, you only need a small blob of product and it cleanser AND removes makeup like a dream. My skin feels soft and smooth after using it, and I love how foamy it goes which makes my skin feel super clean. I use it twice a week, as once wasn’t enough. Followed by a hydrating overnight mask my skin looks and feels soft and dewy after use.
I was lucky to be selected to trial this product and was really pleased with it! The packaging is simple yet sophisticated - what I would expect from Dr. Lewinns. The product comes in your typical squeezy tube with a pop-open cap, easy to open with one hand.
The consistency is quite thin in comparison with exfoliating products I usually use which I liked as I didn't find it as harsh. The scent reminds me of lemon sorbet or margarita - which is cool with me!
I have normal-dry skin, I used this product 2-3 times a week (more than advised) and had good results. I have recently been struggling with my forehead being covered with those little spots that never seem to eventuate into anything and are impossible to get rid of - when I began using this I had at least 10 and now I am down to 4!
This product has made me want to try more Dr. Lewinns products!
Tips: Dont need to squeeze the tube much - the consistency of this product means it flows quite easily.
