Looked great in photos. This great power holds up against more expensive brands I've tried. You get bang for your buck here. HD powder isn't my everyday go to. But it is used regularly for nights out. Looks great in photos, skin seems flawless. Excellent find
I have been looking for a powder to set my makeup as I found that powdered foundation gave a cakey look on top of my concealer. I was looking for a powder that would help to maintain my makeup throughout the day but still be affordable. I was happy to come across this product on iherb and decided to give it a go. I was quite worried about the colour of the powder if it would make my face look lighter as I already think I am pale now but it actually made minimal difference to my makeup which was a bonus! I have never used the sponge that comes with the powder as I find my flat top brush disperses the product better but I may end up using the sponge in the future for foundation. I did notice that my skin still gets oily during the day especially by the afternoon but the HD powder manages to keep my makeup looking in place even after a long day. I get a lot less minimal fade in my foundation by wearing this product and will continue to use this powder in the future.
Tips: Use a flat top brush to apply to evenly distribute the powder.
This is embarrassing. I actually just spent about 10 minutes writing a super long review on here about the under eye setting powder rather than this powder! However - I do own both luckily, So I've copy+pasted my Undereye setting powder to the right place and I'm starting again.
Right, Hello! Ironically I am now about to write about how this powder seems to be almost identical to the undereye setting powder and I now use it as undereye setting powder because there is so much in the packaging!
Lets start from the beginning... the packaging. The packaging on this HD Powder is incredibly ginormous and bulky! That being said - you do get ALOT of product so I suppose that is a plus. The design is the same as the other products in this e.l.f range - simple and black/white. Which I neither love nor hate.
The powder itself is lovely - it's fine and looks great on the skin. HOWEVER - I swear it is almost exactly the same as the undereye powder. In fact, I've started using this under my eyes and it does the exact same thing (which is awesome because you get so much more product!). I do like this on the face as well to set foundation or underneath foundation (if you want to do Goss's powder-before-foundation trick). It is again, a little shimmery which is a problem if you want to add highlighter as well!
Overall I'd recommend this product if you want to pay less and get a larger tub of underye setting powder - or if you want something to try the powder-before-foundation trick, or if you want a simple powder to set your foundation with! Especially if you are just starting out with setting powders and all that jazz - this is a simple, inexpensive one that doesn't make me break out (and I have extremely oily skin). Go buy it!
Tips: I apply mine with a Real Techniques fluffy powder brush if I'm using it on my face - or a small tapered brush if it's under the eyes.
I recently bought this online, intending to get the plain formula but ordering the shimmering version. When it arrived I thought it was a complete write off as I could not see myself ever going for the disco ball look. However, I did a little experimenting and found this product to be wonderful!
I find the packaging to be simple and lovely. Comes with a powder pad that stops excess product getting everywhere, so the design is practical. The pad is decent for application but I prefer to use a brush to get a more subtle, even coverage. The shimmer was not overpowering, as I expected. Rather, it gave me a healthy luminous glow that photographed incredibly well! It sat nicely atop my foundation and lasted all day. Love it!
This is a great HD powder. I have purchased this twice and it always lasts a long time, you don't need much product. I have changed up my makeup routine and now I only use this under my eyes sometimes as it's very finely milled and helps with under eye creasing from concealer. I did love to use it as an all over setting powder before though. Made my skin look flawless and poreless and set my makeup beautifully. Don't know if I would repurchase again as I don't have as strong a need for it, but it is a good product!
So I am a girl who loves her e.l.f products, and this has to be one of my favourites. I love that the powder is so soft, and light weight. When I apply it, it does not feel like I have just caked on a whole lot of powder and it doesn't feel like it is clogging my pores. I also like that it doesn't leave me looking like a ghost after I apply it (which I have had happen to me with a translucent powder before... ahh nightmarish). I have been using this product for I don't even know how long now, and I don't think I will stop. It is affordable, and a great product that helps keep my make up looking fresh all day and night :)
I bought the pressed version of this from Kmart for around $14 and while the applicator (not sure if it’s a brush or a sponge) was missing I was pretty impressed with how hardy the packaging is. It’s a white powder and I didn’t hold out much hope but this powder is one of the most blurring powders I own (next to my Laura Mercier). It doesn’t do an amazing job of keeping the oils at bay but it does lock down my foundation and doesn’t look cakey at all. I’m loving this brand the more I use it and at less than $20 will definitely keep purchasing this powder ,although next time I’ll try the loose version.
This product is so versatile, it is great for using under foundation (to stop oil shine and make makeup last longer) and also on top. It creates an almost airbrushed effect on the skin and does not have too much of a whitecast when used in flash photography. The packaging is a little too bulky, and I feel I waste a lot when I open and close the lid as the powder often goes everywhere. But for the price I cannot complain, it is really a great product and will definitely purchase again when I run out.
Great product for setting under the eyes. But you have to be very careful or the product will go everywhere. This can be very very messy but a lot of translucent powders are like that anyway.. For just 6 bucks it's a great buy. Great for people with oily skin, and for dry skin people I recommend using a little bit of this just for the eyes and to be careful with it. But overall a great product
