I have used this a lot over the years and love it. I use it most as a lip balm, especially when my lips are really dry as this tends to happen to me when the seasons change. I always have a tube of this in my handbag! It is a really versatile product and is great to have on hand (burns, insect bites, balm etc.)

Tips: For really dry flaky lips smooth on a layer of Eight Hour Cream. Leave on for approx 5 mins and use a damp flannel in a circular motion to remove any dead skin. Put another layer of Eight Hour Cream on as a balm. Leaves lips super smooth!
I know people swear by this but for me the taste and smell really put me off this product as they are not pleasant. It is very effective on dry lips and skin irritations but I only use it when I have to as it isn't my favourite and I think there are other more natural and nicer smelling products that have a similar effect such as paw paw ointment. This is also very expensive and although it lasts a long time as you only use a small amount at a tip this is also true for paw paw ointment which is a fraction of the price. Will not be repurchasing this.
Eight hour cream has a promising name really; I envisaged it making every day feel like a Friday and fast forwarding through the eight hours of work so I could get to the good bits after 5.00pm but this is a close second.
This probably wouldn’t have been a product I would normally buy; with a RRP of $35.00 it is quite pricey. But a little blob of it goes a long way
The packaging is clean and simple and easily identifies itself
Upon opening the first thing I noticed was the fragrance which isn’t the most pleasant of smells; it has a peppery odour to it that tends to linger. This being said I didn’t like it as a lip conditioner.
The cream is thick and almost heavy feeling, a touch greasy on initial contact which was a little off putting for me. It is pale orange in colour.
It does however rub in well and leaves skin feeling refreshed and revitalised.
I used it for a few days and definitely noticed a difference on the areas that I tested.
After it has soaked in my skin does feel softer. I used it on my hands and cuticles as I am a chronic cuticle chewer (yuck I know), it pretty much instantly soothed the cuticles and a bonus was they didn’t smell that nice so I wasn’t tempted to put them near my mouth!
Also I applied it to my cracked heels to which I noticed a considerable softness within a day of the first application and believe me it has been a long road finding a cracked heel cream that lives up to expectations. I used it on a scaly scarred area on my arm which is usually very dry and it soothed that and has hydrated it well.
I used it as a brow gel and it made it easy to define my arches and I would use it again for this.
I believe the hydration does last most of the day and gives better moisturising than many other products that are on the market. Having used this product I would recommend it to others and would likely purchase again in the future.
Tips: Definitely buy the fragrance free version!
I don't usually go for these name brands since I typical go for natural NZ brands since I find them cheaper and prefer the natural ingredients but after reading so many reviews plus there was a sale at Farmers so I had to get some. I used this for knees, feet, elbows, cuticles and lips. My knees and elbows have a tendency to get all discolored from calluses and really dry. I put a dab of this on before bed and the next morning the skin is back to it normal color and smooth and hydrated. I also use this on my feet and the next morning the calluses are softened even if I didn't use a foot file the night before. This can also be used on lips but my person preference is lip balm since this is a bit sticky and doesn't taste good. I have also used it for cuticles but I prefer cuticle oil as it sinks deeper and is less sticky.
The pros are: It's multipurpose, has some natural ingredients, comes in a decent sized tube and a little goes a long way.
The cons are: It's expensive for a balm and I wasn't fond of the scent of the Original tube. It also has some ingredients like mineral oil and BHT which is a toulene based ingredient and I avoid toulene in nail polishes.
Overall I will probably consider repurchasing if I can't find a better and cheaper balm to deal with calluses.
Tips: If you apply this on your feet at night it's best to wear socks over it to seal in the moisture and because your feet will be a bit greasy even the next morning and you could get greasy shoes. I recommend you smell the Original one before you choose between the Original or Unfragranced one as the scent reminded me of a tube of petroleum jelly with a hint of chemical apricot scent.
There are so many uses for this product and I'd be lost without it! It's a bit pricey but it's totally worth it in my opinion, I like to use it as a lip balm before bed and when I wake up my lips are super smooth and ready for lipstick.
I've always had a problem with mosquitos attacking me during the night and i wake up with billions of itchy bites that I can never not itch. But when I discovered this magic stuff, I applied it and didn't feel the need to itch again. It was amazing and they healed super fast too.
It's also great if you have a cold and are always blowing your nose, because for me, that area gets so dry and sore and this cream fixes it right up.
This is also good for minor burns and since I live in a house full of boys, this definitely comes in handy.
This is a miracle in a tube, the only downside is the smell. But I can totally get over that when I see its results
Tips: Apparently there's one out with no fragrance, so give that a go!
I brought this a few months ago as I had heard rave reviews and I have had the worst dry lips over winter. It was quite pricey but I thought it was at least worth a shot. I found it great. It helped my lips within days. I have also found it really good to put on dry areas like knees an elbows when needed. It is quite a thick texture but rubs in well. The smells not too great but its easy to deal with. Anyone suffering from dry patches would love this
Tips: I put it on my lips when I go to bed and always wake up with soft hydrated lips
If I had to only ever have one product in my life, Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream would be the one. I have always had at least one tube of Eight Hour Cream somewhere in the house, handbag and First Aid Kit. My kids have grown up thinking everyone has this in their first aid kit. It is great for chafing, sunburn, dry cracked skin, small grazes, eczema, split ends, eyebrows, skin conditioner, softening skin, great on elbows, knees and gardeners hands, we even use it on our dogs when they have scrapes etc. A tube taken on holiday is like having a medical kit with you - it really is a wonder product and deserves it longevity and status in the marketplace. I love the smell and feel on the skin, it is even pleasing to the males in the household, who have no qualms using it. A tube lasts for ages and never loses potency or deteriorates in consistency or smell, so is really good value for money.
Tips: You can really use it for any purpose, however be smart as it is not for internal use and I also wouldn't keep using it on wounds that do not heal within a day or so - they probably require medical advice.
Always have a tube floating around in the bottom of my handbag. Great for loads of applications, not just lips! Maybe the strangest but best is on your nose when you have a cold lol. Just have to watch out at the ski field if you don't get the SPF version, although its perfect après ski.
This felt like I was putting Vaseline on my face and it had a very artificial smell. I read the ingredients; Petroleum 56.8%, Lanolin, Mineral Oil, Fragrance, Salicylic Acid, Propyparaben, Castor Oil, Corn Oil, Tocopherol, BHT, Iron Oxides. Petroleum is a by product of oil drilling and no one should ever put this rubbish on their face (or their babies bottoms)
Tips: Dr oz talked about the Top three dangers in your beauty products.. Including petroleum jelly (Vaseline) http://dailyhealthweb.blogspot.co.nz/2010/02/dr-oz-top-three-dangers-in-your-beauty.html
When I was invited to review the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream I was absolutely thrilled to be one of the chosen ones. I checked my mailbox everyday patiently waiting for my package to arrive. Once it came I had to use it straight away! The tube is very stylish and feminine looking, when I opened the tube it was something that I had never smelt before, it smells like Citronella candles! It took me a few days to get used to the smell but now I don't notice it anymore. The texture is thick and creamy but it has a lighty greasy texture to it. Before receiving my 8 hour cream I did some research on what I could use my cream on but I will only tell you my favourites:
1. On my feet! Rubbing this on the soles of my feet right before I go to bed, they have become smooth and so soft, my feet have never looked better! Since its been hotter I have been wearing my Jandles more and I notice my feet are more dry, 1 week of using this they are nearly as soft as my 9 month olds feet!
2. On the tips of my hair. Now Ive been taking this cream in my handbag, basically everywhere I go, and there are times when Im out I can feel the ends of my hair are dry and dabbing the cream on my hair perks it up and makes it look healthy and glossy in times where Ive needed to spruce it up. Its also great for adding to the fly aways in the front of your hair when you tie your hair in a ponytail.
3. Eyebrows. The cream keeps them perfectly in place, just like eyebrow gel but without making your eyebrow hairs stiff.
4. After waxing. Usually when pamper myself, the areas that I wax get irritated and quite angry but after applying this after I was it gives a soothing feel to the areas and I noticed when I waxed my eyebrows and I applied some cream to it within half an hour you couldn't tell I had just waxed which is not usually the case for me!
5. Burns. I took my kids out to Bounce and Beyond and we suffered some burns from going down the bouncy castles (Ouch) applying the cream to the burns made them less painful and easier to manage, my daughter loved the smell of it too!
6.Eyelashes. On days where Ive needed to rush about Ive applied some 8 hour cream to my eyelashes and they make them look so healthy and shiny, I love the gloss it gives them.
Overall nearly 1 tube empty, and soft baby feet might I add, I am thrilled to have tried this product, I wish I had brought some a lot sooner, the smell took a bit to get used to which is why Im happy that they also sell a fragrant free 8 hour cream which I will be buying, this stuff is amazing and I recommend it to all woman of all ages.
Tips: After waxing rub a small amount of 8 hour cream onto the waxed areas, it will soothe the area and get rid of any wax residue left over. Also applying to your feet before bedtime, rub a good amount on your feet and go to bed with some socks on, your feet will feel amazing!
