Eight Hour Cream

You can't go wrong with this product. I use it on dry skin, or put it on my lips over night to wake up with them feeling so soft and moisturised, with all dry spots gone. The smell is quite overpowering, but manageable, and this product is also good for sensitive skin. I do find the product quite think so it has to be used in small amounts.

8hr cream

This 8 hour cream is a must in your bathroom cupboard. It works wonders on dry skin, cuts, grazes and even burns. If I ever have any burns from in the kitchen I apply this as soon as ive run it under the water, I find it leaves a protective barrier without making the burn worse. I have also noticed that any scarring i would normally get after a burn is almost non existant if i apply this. I got my first tube as a luxury sample in a gift with purchase and have been buying it ever since. It does leave a coating on the skin so you need to be mindful of that

Tips: This can be used as a lip balm although there is a specific lip product in this range. I just found it easier to dispense this into a lip balm pottle for my kids to use

My favourite.

I have loved this cream for many years and it is one that I always make room for in my budget.

Usually I use this on areas of skin that need extra TLC - such as my hands, feet and elbows. I also like to apply this to dry patches on my face during winter time.

Over all of the years I have used this I have never been disappointed with it and have even bought it for friends as gifts.

This is something every woman should own.

Eight Hour Cream - Nice to have, not a miracle!

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is one of those staple beauty products that you have to try at least once... I am not saying it is the best product out there but its a cult classic.

It is very versatile and you are able to use it all over for many different reasons (one of the lovely ladies below has some great options) The smell/taste is questionable however and using it on your lips can be a bit overpowering sometimes. If you hate the smell then that would be quite hard to get over as it is very strong. It is hydrating and would be a good product to just have in your handbag for all occasions.

All in all its an ok product but I am sure you can get the same if not better results from Vaseline for much less of the price.... but not in quite as classy packaging ;)

Highly effective...if you can stand the smell

I have used this cult classic cream for years and it really is wonderful. Although $35 can seem quite pricey, a little goes a very long way and the rather large tube will last a long time.

The packaging is very sleek, and its tube design allows for minimal product wastage and control over the amount of product. I generally don't leave the house without a tube in my bag.

The cream is very thick, slightly greasy at first touch but the greasiness tends to absorb quite quickly. The apricot colour makes for a lovely lip tint with a glossy finish.

My only complaint with this is the smell. I really dislike it but haven't found a product that does even half as good a job. I am aware Elizabeth Arden have released a Fragrance free version so will be trying that next time.

Overall, I love this product. It's so multi purpose and really works well. Definitely worth the money and overcoming the scent!

Tips: Apply generously on dry skin before bed, works a charm!

Results speak for themselves

So this doesn't smell great and the first time I applied it I wondered what all the fuss was about. And then I woke up the next morning with silky smooth skin and I understood! I often use this as a night 'mask' when my face is a little dry. I also apply it to my feet when they need a little TLC. If you can stomach the smell (while it's not amazing, there are worse smells!), you'll see great results. If you're looking for something for your chapped lips, I've used the lip balm version of this as well and that smells terrific.

Tips: Apply sparingly.

Elizabeth Arden- Every woman needs a tube of this!

When I was invited to review the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream I was absolutely thrilled to be one of the chosen ones. I checked my mailbox everyday patiently waiting for my package to arrive. Once it came I had to use it straight away! The tube is very stylish and feminine looking, when I opened the tube it was something that I had never smelt before, it smells like Citronella candles! It took me a few days to get used to the smell but now I don't notice it anymore. The texture is thick and creamy but it has a lighty greasy texture to it. Before receiving my 8 hour cream I did some research on what I could use my cream on but I will only tell you my favourites:

1. On my feet! Rubbing this on the soles of my feet right before I go to bed, they have become smooth and so soft, my feet have never looked better! Since its been hotter I have been wearing my Jandles more and I notice my feet are more dry, 1 week of using this they are nearly as soft as my 9 month olds feet!

2. On the tips of my hair. Now Ive been taking this cream in my handbag, basically everywhere I go, and there are times when Im out I can feel the ends of my hair are dry and dabbing the cream on my hair perks it up and makes it look healthy and glossy in times where Ive needed to spruce it up. Its also great for adding to the fly aways in the front of your hair when you tie your hair in a ponytail.

3. Eyebrows. The cream keeps them perfectly in place, just like eyebrow gel but without making your eyebrow hairs stiff.

4. After waxing. Usually when pamper myself, the areas that I wax get irritated and quite angry but after applying this after I was it gives a soothing feel to the areas and I noticed when I waxed my eyebrows and I applied some cream to it within half an hour you couldn't tell I had just waxed which is not usually the case for me!

5. Burns. I took my kids out to Bounce and Beyond and we suffered some burns from going down the bouncy castles (Ouch) applying the cream to the burns made them less painful and easier to manage, my daughter loved the smell of it too!

6.Eyelashes. On days where Ive needed to rush about Ive applied some 8 hour cream to my eyelashes and they make them look so healthy and shiny, I love the gloss it gives them.

Overall nearly 1 tube empty, and soft baby feet might I add, I am thrilled to have tried this product, I wish I had brought some a lot sooner, the smell took a bit to get used to which is why Im happy that they also sell a fragrant free 8 hour cream which I will be buying, this stuff is amazing and I recommend it to all woman of all ages.

Tips: After waxing rub a small amount of 8 hour cream onto the waxed areas, it will soothe the area and get rid of any wax residue left over. Also applying to your feet before bedtime, rub a good amount on your feet and go to bed with some socks on, your feet will feel amazing!

Amazing review! I have heard so much about this 'cult' product, but didn't really know what the deal was. Thanks for providing so many tips on it's use, I think I have to put this on my beauty 'wish list'!

Bit pricey for me

I really liked many things about this product including how quickly it helped to soothe cuts, cracked and dry skin. I do find the fragrance not all that appealing and if applied throughout the day rather than night time it can feel heavy and a little greasy. I found most often I would use it at night as I would be sleeping and not care about the smell and greasiness. For the age old summer complaint for cracked heels from wearing jandals all day every day it is fab, The packaging is sophisticated, classy and understated and the tube simple and smooth. The price is the major for me though. As I no longer work full time this Mum can't work this into the budget.

Tips: Purchase the fragrance free if you have a choice.

Eight hours not enough

After all the amazing things I have heard recently and over the years about this iconic product, I am sorry to say I wasn't impressed. I really did give it a good go, testing it out for many of the claims and even waited till the last day to write my review.

It promises to soothe and protect skin but I'm not convinced. I first used it as a lip balm over night. Unlike other brands, I woke up with dry, tight feeling, cracked lips that peeled a little that day. Needless to say I didn't want to give that another shot and also found the smell so repulsive that I couldn't bear to put it anywhere near my face anyway. Harsh? Well, at least that's the worst bit over.

I enjoyed using it on my cracked heels but once again had to mask the smell by wearing it to bed with socks on. This was quite effective and my heels felt much smoother after a few days. Applied to tiny scratches and bites, it appears to help but I suspect that may be more because it acts like a barrier cream as opposed to any healing properties. I also tried it on my brows and found that a little kept them in place. As a moisturiser, I found it just left my skin with too much greasy residue.

I really liked the packaging, the tube is sleek and classy. It is quite a generous size, especially since you don't need a lot to get enough coverage. This gel cream is smooth and easy to apply but can be quite sticky. It leaves skin feeling greasy and can easily be wiped off.

There are so many great things written about Eight hour cream and many of my friends swear by it. I think it's just a matter of preference as I have tried similar products that I absolutely love and find more suited to my skin, especially for my lips.

So unfortunately will not be personally recommending it and at $35 a tube, I won't be investing in it either

Tips: If you prefer more natural and fresh smelling products, this isn't for you.

A Surprise

Eight hour cream has a promising name really; I envisaged it making every day feel like a Friday and fast forwarding through the eight hours of work so I could get to the good bits after 5.00pm but this is a close second.

This probably wouldn’t have been a product I would normally buy; with a RRP of $35.00 it is quite pricey. But a little blob of it goes a long way

The packaging is clean and simple and easily identifies itself

Upon opening the first thing I noticed was the fragrance which isn’t the most pleasant of smells; it has a peppery odour to it that tends to linger. This being said I didn’t like it as a lip conditioner.

The cream is thick and almost heavy feeling, a touch greasy on initial contact which was a little off putting for me. It is pale orange in colour.

It does however rub in well and leaves skin feeling refreshed and revitalised.

I used it for a few days and definitely noticed a difference on the areas that I tested.

After it has soaked in my skin does feel softer. I used it on my hands and cuticles as I am a chronic cuticle chewer (yuck I know), it pretty much instantly soothed the cuticles and a bonus was they didn’t smell that nice so I wasn’t tempted to put them near my mouth!

Also I applied it to my cracked heels to which I noticed a considerable softness within a day of the first application and believe me it has been a long road finding a cracked heel cream that lives up to expectations. I used it on a scaly scarred area on my arm which is usually very dry and it soothed that and has hydrated it well.

I used it as a brow gel and it made it easy to define my arches and I would use it again for this.

I believe the hydration does last most of the day and gives better moisturising than many other products that are on the market. Having used this product I would recommend it to others and would likely purchase again in the future.

Tips: Definitely buy the fragrance free version!
