I really can't stand this perfume. It's just too overpowering to my senses. Its just straight up cloying. Yeesh. I don't recommend this perfume to anyone who favours a fresh, clean scent. I've also noticed a lot of older women tend to favour this; and walking past them on the street when they wear this perfume.. is overwhelming. Can't deny that this is a memorable fragrance though!

I honestly cannot understand how this fragrance is so popular!! Maybe I'm not the right target age group for it (I get the impression it's a more mature ladies scent- a classic that's been around for years and people that have had it keep getting it?!) I'm not sure- but I'm sure of one thing this fragrance is definitely not for me!!
The bottle is classy and classic- a simple design that looks beautiful. The price is reasonable as well - that's about the only positives I have .., The scent is just so overpowering and very distinct - not a bad thing if you don't mind it but for me I can smell it a mile away (and it's not good!) ... Usually I'm a huge fragrance fan but this one just failed to win me over.
Tips: Spray sparingly?! Lol, for the sake of the likes of me ;)
I got a 10ml spray perfume in a package withother Elizabeth Arden scents to trial and this one is my least favourite of the bunch, it’s so in your face strong and gives me an instant headache if I spray too much. The scent described really sounded like I’d enjoy this fragrance, every notes called for me, but somehow too much of the good scents came together and created a pungent smell that really reminds me of an old lady with too much makeup on and a big hat that has flowers on it, lol. I used up this perfume for work, I do this to all my not liked perfumes, it took like a month to use this 10ml up due to not being able to spray too much of it, didn’t wanna scare the customers away. The bottle is very pretty though, and reading all the good reviews maybe this perfume just didn’t work on my skin(or clothes or hair), but this really didn’t do it for me, I’m sorry!
Tips: Try before you buy, you either love it or hate it!
I was given this EDT as a gift many years ago when it was very popular. I don’t know what the cost was then but the bottle shape has since changed and the scent may have too. Many people just love this scent, but it just does not agree with me so I put it down to my skin reaction, or my sense of smell? I find the top notes to be very overpowering with a very strong floral scent, smells like a flowershop full of lots of aromatic flowers in bloom. It’s a scent that old ladies would wear, and there is also a powdery talc smell mixed in with it. Unfortunately, these tops notes are the only scent I can smell and it dominates the base and middle notes which I cannot clearly identify because of so many floral scents. It lasts for ages and a little goes a long way so if you really love this scent, I think it would be value for money. In fact, its so long lasting that I can still smell a hint of it the next day, even after I have showered. It is only then that a whiff of the sandalwood base notes came through for me, and it was quite pleasant, but by then you could hardly smell it. Alas, this is not for me as I favour a scent that is more sandalwood.
Tips: Don't put too much on, a little goes a long way and lasts for ages.
Growing up every time we asked Mum what we could get her as a present she said, "Red Door." When she finally got a little bottle of it, not from us thankfully, she didn't like it and passed it on to me. Unfortunately the scent was far too strong for me and actually gave me a headache.
The bottle I got is fairly basic, I like the one in the pictures here much more - I always wondered why mine wasn't fashioned into a door for its name. For me the notes come out as very strong floral, the main being jasmine I think which I have never been a big fan of. It is very strong, I only had the EDT but it was more like the strenght of most EDPs.
I really don't understand the hype around Red Door. I guess when something has been around for this long there must be people out there that like it (my aunt for one) but it really doesn't sit well with me. I find it too strong and quiet an "old" scent, not modern or youthful.
I just don't like this fragrance! My nana has worn this for as long as I can remember and, as much as I love my nana, the scent really catches in the back of the throat. It's horrendously strong (and no, nana doesn't marinade in it...) and lingers for hours. If you're after a strong, bold, statement scent that demands people stop and see where it's coming from then OK, this product might be for you. If you're a little more reserved, stay away from the Red Door!
Warm scent but just says my mum when I was 12. Even she at 50 says nana scent. Very strong. Very long lasting scent
Tips: Can be very overpowering so under scent yourself
i cant say this is one of the best ive tried. I found the smell quite over powering and gave me a headache whenever i sprayed it. It has a much older scent, not a flowery, sweet youthful scent that I much prefer
Tips: i think it best suits a more mature, older woman
I got this in an Elizabeth Arden mini perfume set. The bottle is cute and is the same as the bigger bottle just mini size.
You only need a teeny tiny spray of this....it is sooooo strong. To me it is really pongy and definitely reminds me of an old lady.
It gives me the worst headache and I literally have to scrub it off to get rid of the stench. Sorry this is not a pleasant scent at all.
