The smell of the shampoo was OK, but the conditioner smelt like burnt plastic! However the smell didn't remain in the hair once washed out. It claims to be a low foam shampoo, but I found it very foamy. The conditioner was really easy to comb through, which is what I tend to find most difficult if conditioner isn't up to scratch. I love the environmentally friendly aspect of the bottles and contents, and the pump bottle makes it very easy to dispense. The product isn't bad, but my hair was a bit frizzy once dry. Colour wise, it did appear to brighten the blonde a bit but not a lot of brassiness removed - in fact I think I look more ginger than ever! I would possibly use again though, especially for the RRP!

I've been using this conditioner and accompanying shampoo for two weeks now. My hair is naturally medium brown, but I've lifted it 4 levels lighter.
I like my purple toning products to be deeply pigmented. We're talking violet. Unfortunately the Essano Blonde conditioner is merely lilac, meaning that it didn't really give enough colour pay-off to make a noticeable difference in my blonde tones.
In terms of nourishing my hair, it did an average job. I could still comb my hair easily after the shower, but it wasn't any better than other conditioners from the supermarket.
Finally, the smell. I love a yummy scent that gives me a real 'experience' in the shower. I could probably handle no fragrance at all, but a bad scent is just not cool. Sadly, I found the smell of the Essano conditioner really gross! I can't quite describe what it smells like, but based on the smell I won't be repurchasing.
I like this brand so thought I would try the toning conditioner to keep my blonde looking good and not too brassy. Maybe I didn't leave it in long enough, but sadly not a great result. Price point is good, but I won't be rebuying this one.
Tips: Maybe try leaving it for longer, otherwise generally I find you need to pay more for a good purple shampoo/conditioner sadly.
I love the fact that this product comes in recyclable packaging and there are no nasties ( parabens, sulphates etc). No animals are used in testing of this product so that is a definite plus for me and it is made in NZ. It isn't an overly fragrant product but has a pleasant scent. I found I had to use a LOT of product to get a feeling of nourishment and creaminess on my thrice weekly washed hair. I didn't find any noticeable difference to my blonde highlights at all or find my hair shinier and softer. Based on my findings, I probably wouldn't buy this conditioner again.
Tips: You do need to use a lot of this product to feel like it is conditioning your hair
I'm a ginger/brunette shade, so when I want to tone down the orange I often use a purple or blue shampoo. I love Essano shampoos anyway, so was really happy to see them making a Purple conditioner.
The conditioner itself is a light creamy looking purples, so I assume most of the toning comes from the shampoo. The conditioner itself is pleasant, and as effective as other conditioners, but nothing amazing, and on its own, I don't think it would tone down my ginger hair... Overall it was just an average conditioner for me, and I think I would have liked more nourishment from it as I felt the shampoo in this regime was extremely drying on my hair, with use over a period of a few weeks.
Wasn't as impressed as I want to be - mostly in the nourishment side of things - so maybe not made for ginger brunettes trying to tame the brassiness of brunette tones.
My hair did come out nicely toned but this conditioner didn't condition it very well, my hair wasn't left smooth or feeling nice like expected after conditioning. It felt dry and lifeless.
I wasn’t as much of a fan with this as I was with the shampoo. I felt this let me down a little with it’s barely there purple tone and wasn’t very nourishing on my hair. Also I would love to have seen this with a pump like the shampoo. It does have a pleasant fragrance and again a decent sized bottle that would last well for those with shorter hair. I feel that this would be probably well suited for people who don’t need super hydration or those who tend to go a little on the oiler side as it is very light weight . It wouldn’t be my first choice for conditioner for my long thick hair, but it wasn’t awful just didn’t provide the Hydration my hair craves.
I got this in a BR vault.
Curiously, the shampoo comes in a handy pump, and the conditioner doesn't - this packaging would be better on an inverted bottle, as I've basically tipped the bottle upside down to get at the product more easily, and it leaks slightly.
The product is thicker than the shampoo, and a paler purple, with the same herbal scent that i really really dislike.
The conditioner itself is okay, doesn't have a huge impact on the colour of my (naturally white) hair, but also does impart a bit of moisture and do what conditioner should. It's okay, nothing special.
I used this together with the Essano blonde purple shampoo, it had a more gentle fragrance than the shampoo which was nice and was quite moisturising, but not that heavy. However i found that using the pair together was a bit rich for my fine blonde hair. It did leave my hair shiny and nice and soft , but i was having to wash my hair daily when i used these products and thats not ideal.
I really wish my hair had loved this conditioner as much as I love Essano products! Yes the conditioner made my hair feel less dry and matted when applied following a purple shampoo but unfortunately once rinsed out my hair was left feeling dry and matted and even my wet brush, which usually glides through wet hair, struggled and I found my hair breaking off and frizzing which does not happen with my usual conditioner. My hair was definitely not left feeling smooth or softer and did not look vibrant or shiny. It looked far far from vibrant and shiny and one might say it looked dryer, duller and far less healthy than when I started using this product. I have since had to have my hair coloured chocolate brown as my combination of white blonde and clean blonde ended up a mix of brassy blonde and lilac/ash blonde and looked so dried that this was my only option.
On a happy note I loved the packaging! There was no mistaking this was a purple conditioner. The label was a gorgeous shade of purple on a black bottle and looked very attractive to me. It had a pop up lid which was easy to use but depending where the bottle was kept in the shower it would end up with water in the bottle and when you popped the lid and tipped it to squeeze water would come out prior and with the product. It would have been great for them to have the same pump action as the shampoo as this was the best and most effective pump I have used. The scent was light and really quite nice! The colour of the conditioner was a pretty pastel purple and the texture nice and creamy.
Tips: Use a leave in treatment after rinsing the conditioner.
