I purchased this after running out of salon purple shampoo. Its 'okay' but certainly it isn't as good as other brands I have used or have since used. As such, whilst okay, I wouldn't buy again. Having spent that much money on going blonde I've chosen to go with a dedicated purple shampoo/conditioner.

Tips: to use, leave in for 20-30 minutes to ensure shampoo activates and to get best result.
I really enjoy this purple shampoo, I keep buying it because it isn’t as strong as salon formulas and I find it doesn’t stain with long term use. I prefer my blonde to be creamy and using this every second wash is doing exactly what I want. Keeping it bright without that purple tinge hangover.
Tips: If you like a really icy blonde it probably isn’t the product for you.
I LOVE essano. Love them. Their products are affordable, available in Countdown, cruelty-free and natural. What's not to love?
Their toe-dip into the complicated world of blonde hair is mostly a success.
I love the pump bottle, always a bonus for an in-shower product. It's a generous size for the price. 2 pumps is enough for my long, thick hair.
The shampoo is a deep violet, perfect for offsetting those yellow tones.
My hair is balayaged from natural brown to blonde. I usually use a purple conditioner from a salon brand called Nak. I usually opt for a purple conditioner rather than shampoo as I find purple shampoos drying.
I did suspect that essano's sulphate free and purple shampoo would run on the dry side, and it does - my hair is definitely left drier than when using my usual (non purple) shampoo, but no more dry than using any other purple shampoo.
My hair was left wonderfully toned, there was no yellow left and my hair was left manageable and frizz-free.
All up, this is a really nice purple shampoo - it does everything a salon purple shampoo would do, at a fraction of the cost.
Tips: Use on dry hair if you're in need of some serious toning. I apply to dry hair for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing.
Comes in a pump bottle which is handy! Dark purple colour. Smells amazing! Does not quite lather up as much as a product like the Fudge shampoo and leaves the hair feeling very porous. Following this with the purple conditioner fixes it.
Tips: Leave on for a bit does not grab quickly as some other products
This shampoo is a supermarket revelation!
I've been blonde for over 2 decades, so I've tried a lot of purple shampoos over the years. In my experience the cheaper the product, the more it left my hair feeling like straw.
The essano purple shampoo is a bargain price, and comes in a pump bottle. It is very purple, which is reassuring from a toning perspective, but worrying when considering the possibility of staining. I try to ensure the shower is fully wet before use to prevent purple stains.
This shampoo doesn't lather, as to be expected from a sulphate-free product. It left my hair feeling cleansed. The soft floral scent doesn't linger long, but is lovely while it lasts.
My hair definitely benefited from this purple shampoo - my blonde was restored to it's salon-white glory after one wash. There was no brassiness or uneven yellowing.
Would definitely repurchase and highly recommend to others.
Was so lucky to be involved in trialling the Essano Purple Shampoo and Conditioner Duo, having just finished up my NAK purple shampoo it couldn't have come at a more convenient time. I've never tried any Essano products before, so I was very excited to give this brand a go finally. Well I loved it, the shampoo smells amazing, and a little goes a long way - like the conditioner, so you get a very good amount for your money. It helps tone my hair and keep it from going too ginger or brassy toned, which my hair is very easily prone to doing. It didn't dry my hair out and felt nice and silky afterwards! Will be reusing again for sure.
Tips: use in conjunction with the conditioner for the best results.
When I saw a natural brand doing a purple shampoo I though great, all about it! But after using this my hair felt like straw and there was no change to the tone at all. Super disappointed, I had such high hopes
I use purple shampoos both as a standard shampoo and a toner as required. I found that with regular use the product has average results and as a toner put on for an hour it didnt brighten the colour as much as i would expect. The shampoo dries the hair out significantly. Would use again if my others were out but wouldnt use regularly.
Tips: Always use conditioner afterwards to counteract dryness.
This one I purchased from the beauty vault a while back. Although I like this brand of beauty because it's NZ made and a certified organic I am not sure if I will re buy this in a hurry it's not a bad product it just is very drying and made my hair feel crunchy like other reviewers have said. I didn't leave it in very long. In terms of making your hair less brassy and getting rid of the yellow yes it performs well. This is cheaper than fudge and it gets more points for the bottle as is proudly made from rPET, 100% pre-used, recycled material that’s also still recyclable the formula is 100% free from parabens, PEGs, and sulphates. Great for those who care about that sort of thing and want to do their bit for the environment. It smells okay for a purple toning shampoo but isn't my favourite the Loreal one I purchased at the same time smells amazing though it's not kind to the environment or animals nor a 100% free from parabens, PEGs, and sulphate formula. 300ml is okay for the price in comparison to other purple shampoos and the pigment is rich it's a nice dark purple not very thick in consistency it laters okay for a sulfate free shampoo. The bottle isn't ideal for travel as it is difficult to close the pump bottles. I recommend using when your hair is feeling oily as I don't see how this one hydrates. All in all good but not exceeding expectations
Hi beauties, I used this on my daughters hair, had started to go a lot golden on the mid length and ends of her hair, so using this every twice a week for two weeks and gradually take it down to once a week, then left it, turned out really nice and not to dry, and feeling stripped x
Tips: I recommend using the blonde conditioner too, it helps to seal it your hair off, so damaged is caused from the elements x
