essano Clear Complexion Certified Organic Detoxifying Serum Review

I tried this product with the complete Essano Clear Complexion range that BR sent me!

I love the packaging for this product. It's really simple and sophisticated and the pump makes it feel very high quality.

The product does have quite an interesting smell - my friend described it as over ripe kiwifruit and I would have to agree. Call me crazy but I kind of warmed to the smell after using it quite regularly.

I believe the product had a great effect on my skin. I have used witch hazel products and other products on my chin to try and prevent my monthly breakouts but have always been unsuccessful. I've had great skin this month and I think I can attribute that to the whole range and this serum.

I find the texture really smoothing and think that this serum is a great (and will be an ongoing) part of my skincare routine.

This serum I think is sort of inspired by Korean serums that are meant to detoxify, tighten and clear skin. My first impression was the smell - bitter planty smell but it goes away as soon as its on. It goes sticky almost instantly on the skin but thats normal as it absorbs in. It does leave a thin sticky layer that doesnt go away but thats when I put on the moisturizing products. Its a really good first step in the skin care routine as I've definitely noticed that it prevents current breakouts from worsening and makes my skin tighter. The only iffy sides to it is the small and the film it leaves that can still be there the same day.

Prior to the BR trial for under 25's, I had never used a serum on my face (especially as part of my normal skin care routine) but I was very impressed by the Essano Clear Complexion: Detoxifying Serum for a few reasons. Firstly, I enjoyed the simple packaging of the product as it comes in a small metal-like pump canister with a lid. This product would be easy to use when travelling and it's pump feature made application straight-forward. A little amount of this product was all that was need as I found it quite potent - thus the effects could be felt almost instantly, tightening my skin. After application I did notice a natural looking shine on my skin (perhaps this was also a result of using the product in-conjunction with the other Essano range). The detoxifiying serum left a pleasant smell and assist in clearing my pores - especially the under-the-skin pimples. Of all the products from this range I would readily buy the Detoxifying serum for my skin care routine!

I really love the bottle, its really nice to have something different from a plastic bottle. The product has quite a liquid consistency, and you really only need 1 pump not 2 or 3 as the directions say. It feels quite sticky on the skin, but this stickiness goes aware after applying the moisturiser. The one thing I really don’t like about this product is the smell. It smells woody, but not in a good way! I probably wont buy this product in the future, simply because of the scent. I like the idea behind this product, and I do believe it has helped my skin but because of the smell I wouldn’t.

I love natural products, as they usually seem to work with my sensitive skin, and am always on the hunt for more, so this product was right up my alley. The packaging is similar to those in the range- white and pink with some silver. It had a pump nozzle, which I found a bit hard to use- it was a bit stiff and hard to control the amount of product that came out. It was had to get it to do a half pump, so it had to be one or two full pumps (if that makes sense). I usually found that one pump was enough, and sometimes I would need a bit more so I just unscrewed the lid to get it out, as it was hard to use the pump to get a small amount of product out. This smells different from the other products in the range, it has a bit of an off smell, more like a mix of tea and bark (sounds odd I know, the only way I can describe it), and wasn’t unpleasant. The texture of this was really smooth and spread really easily. It soaked in super quickly and left my skin feeling smooth. I have noticed my skin has become clearer and I haven’t really had a breakout (odd pimples here and there) since using this for the past 4 weeks. My skin is more dry than oily, however I sometimes get oily in my T-zone, which I have found to be less after using this. My skin is sensitive and did not react at all or get red/itchy or anything from using this so that was great! All in all, I did like this product and will continue to use it!

I think this was really good at helping control my oily zones, such as my nose. It has a weird kinda earthy smell like the rest of the products in this range. The one thing I really didn't like was that it left a bit of a film on my skin like it didn't absorb all that well, which I'm sure is great for making sure the serum works its magic, but it felt kinda gross. Overall a decent product which I would definitely keep around to use a few times a week or just as needed.

I had never used Essano products before trialing this Under 25s range. The packaging is super cute with its baby pink and white colour scheme, and I love that it is a New Zealand brand.

The first thing I noticed was the absolutely FOUL smell from the serum. It literally smells like rotting vegetation. I was genuinely concerned that maybe something had gone wrong with the formula, but continued using it so I could write a thorough review for BR. But to be honest, I really did not look forward to using it every night purely because the scent made me gag!

In saying that, other serums I've used have also had a weird odour... has anyone else had this problem?

The product sits lightly on the skin and isn't too sticky. I can't say for sure how much it contributed to the condition of my skin, as I was using it in conjunction with 4 other products from the same range. I do feel that my skin has been a lot clearer as a result of the overall regime though.

A decent product, but only thing is that I think it is not worth it for the price. It did tighten my skin as described which I was quite impressed with. I found the formula quite sticky which caused a slight mess when applying.

Not a pleasant scent but you will get used to it after a few uses. Most of the serums I have used all tend to have an unpleasant smell. This could be because of an ingredient that is required for it to be effective.

Love the packaging and design. The pump was easy to use and came out with the perfect amount.

This was an interesting product. I worked wonders with reducing oil and keeping the face shine free. Packaging was nice and simple. My only problem was the smell of the product (harshly clinical) and the feeling your face is left with, almost as though you are wearing a mask!! Dries rapidly and moisturises at the same time. Probably won’t be buying again as the moisturiser in this range works wonder by itself.

This is probably the one product out of the whole range that I'm not completely sold on. Personally I felt like it didn't do much for my skin, and I found that it was the one product I didn't really care about using.

There's nothing actually bad about this product, however there's nothing I found to be amazing either. I felt like instead of nourishing my skin, it almost made it feel dryer than usual, and slightly tight. I personally do not like the tight feeling because it makes me feel like I'm just putting alcohol on my face.

What I do like about this serum is the packaging, I like how it's slightly heavy so it feels nice to hold. The pump is also nice, but I think if it was a bit more controllable it would be perfect.

I will definitely continue to use this serum though, because I think that all of the products in this range work together amazingly. Perhaps if I stop using it I will see a difference, and then I will know if it's helping my skin.
