essano Clear Complexion Certified Organic Mist Toner Review

Before we start I must confess, I'm super lazy with toners. Most of the time since I'm using vitamin C serum anyway, I don't really bother with toner anymore. But when trialling this range, I was very diligent and forced myself to use this before putting on the serum.

Complaint no.1: the spray bottle. Imagine a wonderful mist that spreads lightly and evenly over your face. This is not it. This squirts out like a water gun and I end up with one circle on my face that's dripping and everywhere else is just dry. I don't know if I just got a crappy nozzle or if this is a common problem, but this pissed me off a lot. In the end I decanted some into another spray bottle I had that actually misted it.

Complaint no.2: the smell. The closest smell to this is probably a hospital disinfectant or some sort of window cleaner. The smell is absolutely horrid. None of the ingredients look like they'd be so pungent but there's just something about this smell that's almost unbearable. I suppose I must forgive Essano for not putting fragrances in this since it's anti acne, but surely there's a way to reduce this horrid smell?

Grumbling aside, this toner does really do the job! For me, a toner should make application of the following steps easier, and facilitate the products absorbing into skin. This ticks both boxes fantastically. I tried two days where I used the toner before serum and two days without the toner. And I found that with the toner, the serum and the moisturiser absorbed into my skin faster, leaving it feeling non-oily and ready for makeup or sunscreen.

The smell is something I can get used to I guess, and I do really like how it helps my skin absorb serum and moisturiser. The price isn't too bad either, especially considering it's 'certified organic'.

I have only used a couple of toners in the past, and I haven't had good experiences with them. I thought that this toner would dry out my skin and make it feel really tight, but it didn't.

I really liked how this toner is in a spray bottle because it's way easier (and more eco friendly) than using cotton pads every day. It's really easy to use and doesn't dry out my skin whatsoever.

The only thing I don't like about this toner is the smell. It's not horrible, it's just weird and I can't put my finger on what it actually smells like. Although it doesn't linger and you can only smell it when you spray it, so that's a bonus.

Because I have been using these products as a system, I can't actually tell which product is doing what for my skin. However because this product contains witch hazel and chamomile, I would assume this product plays a big part in why my skin has cleared up so much while using this system. I will definitely keep using this product because it's so easy, and it's worth continuing to use it just because of the convenience.

I have to admit I was sceptical and wasn’t expecting much after the last ( which was also the first I admit) mist toner I purchased. But I really feel despite its slightly dull packaging I love it! I really feel it makes my skin feel and look better! It has a light but refreshing scent and I think my skin just appears a little more Matt and pores less giant after I apply this. I really only bought it to spritz in the heat but I will definitely continue to purchase!

This is such a beautiful range especially for oily acne prone skin. I trialed it on my teenager and myself as I have an oily T zone and I love the organic natural and botanical ingredients and also that it's made in New Zealand. The success lies in the supermarket mass marketing which is great for such a natural product to break into.

My son didn't like the soft pink packaging so it's definitely for girls. I loved the packaging it looks beautiful with silver and deep purple it seems pretty and unassuming.

The Toner smelt like caramel I think, it has a beautiful sweet scent. It felt light and refreshing when sprayed on and is so nice in summer to cool you down or to refresh your skin. It does take awhile to sink in I had to rub it in a bit but I think it's worth it if you want your skin to have the purifying results. My skin reacted to it and felt a bit tingly, it may be the citric acid, but perhaps that's good for oily skin. I felt like there were too many ingredients packed into this and a toner is quite a simple step to refresh and tone the skin. My son enjoyed how refreshed his skin felt and after a few days of using this range his pimples had all vanished!

I love the fact that it is a bioDTox which means it's clinically proven to control sebum, detoxify and clean pores. Not only is it natural but it's dermatological tested and free of nasties such as paraben silicone, mineral oil and all the other chemical nasties found in most skin care.

I have never used a mist toner before so I was excited to try this. I use it everyday with the other Essano products and is an instant wake up refresher. My skin feels calm and ready for the day as soon as its sprayed on. The smell is really relaxing and sometimes I cant stop spraying it! Really easy to use and you get a decent amount of product.

I saw that some other ladies had trouble with the spray bottle... The packaging must be inconsistent because I enjoyed an even mist which fell delicately on my face. The pink/white/silver colour scheme is really cute too, so personally I liked the packaging.

The smell is a bit odd across this product range. I think it is meant to be some combination of vanilla and rose... In general I don't see the need to add artificial fragrance to this type of product, unless it is a real selling point.

I definitely found the mist light and non-sticky. My skin has definitely been a lot clearer while I've been using this skincare regime. I was previously using the Sukin organic mist toner, and I would say this has similar results at a similar price.

This is easily my second-favourite product in the Essano under 25s regime, so I would consider purchasing again.

Prior to this product I have used one other toner, therefore I had some idea about what a toner can do. I liked using this toner but it didn't always spray very well from the bottle which I found odd. This also contributed to needing 3-4 sprays to actually feel confident that the product was distributed over all my face (my face isn't particularly large).

Part of the 'Clear Complexion Range' Essano's Mist Toner promises balance, hydration and clarification for young/oily skin. Normally I have dry skin and I didn't seem to find much of a difference in hydration after this product particularly. After the first use I felt a little tingle but this has not been a reoccurring problem. Interestingly, like the other reviews on this product I was confused as to the scent of the product which was a bit off-putting and lingered for a while after use. I used the toner in conjunction with the cleanser and moisturiser which I did find worked well together.

Loved the strength of the spray. It is very refreshing on the face and covers full face with two sprays. Keeps face feeling moisturized and dries fast which is definitely a plus. The toner promises hydration which I agree with. Also love the packaging and colour scheme. However, dislike the scent and is an area that needs improving. It smells like hospital disinfectant or general cleaning solutions.
