It's a very pretty colour but you do need to apply 3-4 layers to really make sure the nail is covered completely bot very long lasting need to re change colour after 2 days before colour started chipping.

I do like Essie in general but some of the colours I have used have been better than others. I have been disappointed on a couple of occasions with some colours, especially light pink, being really thin and streaky and requiring lots of coats. In saying that though I would still probably buy darker colours in the brand because they seem to be more highly pigmented.
I tend to give a review a positive and a negative comment when I review an item and as this is my second review on here, I will try to be as positive as I can with it.
Ballet Slippers is a very pretty shade. Apparently it’s the only colour that Queen Elizabeth will wear on her nails. It’s a nude pink and although I was expecting something marvellous with the quality of this nail polish, I was not.
The first application was somewhat streaky on my nails and unfortunately it looked like I had added a layer of Twink correction fluid to my nails. Yes it is a pretty colour but unfortunately against my pale complexion it looked washed out and had to be reapplied so I could actually see some sort of colour on my nails. This also took a bit of time for it to dry too in between my two coats.
This nail varnish lasted approximately five days on my nails so that was a plus for me as I didn’t feel like reapplying it every other day. Like I said it is a lovely colour but unfortunately it didn’t do much for me. I purchased my nail polish via Beauty Bean, a Trade Me seller along with Tea and Crumpets another Essie colour that is more of a light metallic brown. This one stays longer on my nails for some reason and also is better for my skin tone.
This nail polish does not contain any metallic elements.
Tips: To enhance it’s longevity I would advise you to put a base and top coat on your nails.
I can still remember promoting Eddie’s products at a Farmers many years ago. I was applying one of the gorgeous shades to a lady’s nails and explaining how long lasting these products were. She was very happy with the finished result and strolled away after chatting a while longer, waiting for them to dry. After an hour or so the lady came back and asked me to reapply the colour to some of her nails as they had chipped off! Maybe I should have applied a base and top coat but I didn’t have any on me at the time.
I love the quirky names for all the different colours and I swear by their “Help Me Grow” base coat, but overall not the most long lasting product. If you’re very careful with your hands and not clumsy like me then they might last a lot longer. In saying all that though, I’d rather use Essie products any day than O.P.I. The former is definitely longer lasting than the latter and also more affordable.
Tips: Use the “Help Me Grow” base coat, allow each coat to dry completely, and then use a nice top coat for shine and protection.
Beautiful colour range and looks good on. Easy application. I have found that it chips very quickly though so only wear for an event not for a long time.
Tips: Perhaps try with a strong top coat for better results
Loved the colour! However im not a huge fan of essie. The brush is very thin in width and to achieve the colour you need at least 3 coats
Tips: Shake the bottle before using
I was so excited to be trying this, and hoping it wouldnt look like twink (as previous white nail polishes have). However i was a little disappointed as after 2 coats the polish was still streaky, and after the 3rd coat it looked like twink. I tried it as soon as I received it and so thought maybe it was a bit shaken up from being in the post, so tried again 2 days later. Same result and now the polish seemed thick and gluggy too :( However, on the up side, I have since used this as an undercoat and applied coloured patterns over the top - wow. The white really makes the colours POP!! Will totally keep using as now i can maximise the colour while avoiding the 'twink look'.
Tips: Use as an undercoat for nail art, transfer patterns, etc. Also ensure you always add a super shiny top coat (to plain white or patterned) to avoid the twink look.
I had high expectations for Essie after hearing it compared to OPI for so many months. I finally plucked up the courage (and money) to purchase a lovely coral shade.
First of all, I find it very runny! I find it's really easy to overload the brush and after all that nail polish, the cover is very poor. I did two coats and it looked like one coat with other pricey brands.
The day after wearing it I had my hands in water for about half an hour, and it all peeled off!
The positives: It was a lovely color, and perhaps with an extra coat and perhaps a top coat would have lasted longer. But as a mother to two young kids, I don't have time to apply 5 coats of nail polish!
Negatives: Very runny and bad coverage. This might just have been this particular shade, but I don't have the money to try another one for it to turn out the same.
Tips: Perhaps base coats and top coats will make it last longer!
The formula is really good and its easy to coat the nail all you really need is one coat. It dries pretty quick aswell. The only thing is I really really really dislike the colour.
I'm really not a big Essie fan. There's a couple of shades which work really well, but most of the ones in my collection are just meh. They aren't bad.. they're just not very good. They don't last well and chip easily and some of the shades are patchy. On the plus side, their colour range is great!
