When I finally saw an Essence stand in person when I was up in Wellington I went to town on purchasing some goodies. One of the things that really caught my attention was this mascara, big claims of big lashes and being waterproof whilst still under $5 ... had to be tried.
The packaging is a bit cheap which I think you have to expect for a product that is this cheap. Just a basic round tube. The plastic is metallic blue though which I thought was pretty cool. The writing on it is bright although it is already coming off after a couple months use. The mascara wand itself is a natural one with a tonne of bristles.
The mascara itself is somewhat of a dry texture which I quite like, although it does mean it has dried out pretty quickly. I have only had it for two months but the dryness has got to a point where now it clumps faster than it can coat my lashes, not impressed but for the price I don't think you can complain about having to repurchase more often. This made my lashes volumised and black. It didn't really hold a curl particularly well but it did live up to its waterproof claims.
Unfortunately Essence isn't the easiest product to get. But if you can get your hands on it I think this is a really nice product to try and for the price you can't go wrong.
I love almost all essence mascaras, this one has quite a large wand that gives heaps of volume and length but not a lot of separation so it really depends on what you look for in a mascara, I do find it to be very waterproof, it doesn't smudge or flake on me, this does mean that it's a bit harder to take off though but I find that coconut oil works really well. I personally won't be repurchasing this because the wand is a little too big for my liking but it works and it's nice to have a waterproof mascara in my collection
