I was super excited to be offered a place on this trial team. I have not used a Maybelline foundation before so was keen to see if I would love it or leave it.
It comes in a glass bottle, yay love that. Initially, I thought it was a screw top so after trying to screw it off and breaking some of the plastic lid off (oops) I figured out it was a pull up job *rolls eyes*. I chose the shade 30 Sand which was a bit more of an educated guess going by my other foundation. The colour is pretty spot on, maybe a touch light but certainly good enough for me to wear every day. It's a very light formula and you don't need to use a huge amount, maybe a large pea (is that a bean??) size.
Application: The first day, I applied it straight with no primer and the finish was not the best, it sat in my pores and by the time I got home from work, it was looking a little patchy. The next day I used a primer and a foundation brush and it went on super smooth, no pore issues since. Its stickability is great so when I brushed my teeth before heading out the door, I didn't wipe half of it off on my towel like I do with my current product (big win). It has lasted well throughout the day and still looks pretty darn good in the evening even if underneath it all I’m knackered.
Value for money: I think the value is ok? At $33.99 RRP it is up there price wise so I would probably wait till it came on special before I bought it again, which I think I will.
A nice, easy to apply formula that goes on smoothly when using a brush.
Well, I was super excited to be added to this trial. After all, I am a mother and a full coverage foundation with 24-hour coverage sounds like a dream come true especially with the little amount of time on your hands. I used both application tools a foundation brush and sponge and the results were the same. If you are thinking you will be able to get away with using concealer to cover breakouts (especially around those delicate times) you will not get away with it. While it did even out my skin tone it certainly didn't cover the spots like the full coverage you would expect to receive. I was also disappointed with the "superstay foundation" I found by the end of the day more spots were visible than the start, and then my partner asked what I had brushed up against to my horror I found my foundation was sitting on my shoulder, it must have happened when I did a quick rub to satisfy an itch with juggling a toddler, keys, nappy bag, purse you know how it goes (how embarrassing as I had no idea how long it was on there for!). It is safe to say the things this foundation says in its headline it doesnt stand up to the test but I like to leave with some positives so here they are. I did not have a break out of acne so it certainly did not clog my pores. It did feel light on the face, it was not heavy at all. The application was easy as it was blended well not to thick or too runny.
