THE INSPIRATION

"When my grandmother launched the first Private Collection fragrance in 1973, her idea was to give the world a special fragrance she had created originally just for herself and a few friends. Tuberose Gardenia redefines Estée's Private Collection idea in a very special way. It's my tribute to her and the love we shared for these magnificent white flowers.

The new Private Collection is designed for the modern woman of today who understands that simplicity is the purest form of luxury and elegance. I'm thrilled to share it with all of you."

Love at first smell

This is single handedly one of the best perfumes I’ve tried in ages. It smells so elegant and beautiful, it’s hard to compare this to other scents as it’s so unique. I love the jasmine, neroli and gardenia notes, and find it to be beautifully blended. It is worth the price as you’re really paying for too quality that lasts a long time.

For the love of gardenias - this is the one!

If you’re a huge fan of gardenias or jasmine plants that are wonderfully fragrant especially at night - I highly recommend this perfume.

I received the 30ml EDP for Christmas 2018. It comes in a palm-size rectangular glass bottle with a textured gold plastic lid. Given the eye-watering price point (50ml - $182, 75ml - $319 - I KNOW!!) I would have expected the lid to be laced with actual gold haha just saying. Overall it’s simple in packaging and elegant enough for the vanity.

The initial notes are definitely gardenias but it somehow gives off a lovely blend of flowers and warmth. It later dries down to the gardenias lingering in the background with jasmine coming through more so than I would have expected. I just love it, I feel like I’m getting two fragrances in one bottle (so we should with that price waaahhhhh).

Although it’s an EDP, it doesn’t really have that ‘power’ behind it however I do believe the scent is enough to draw people’s attention even receiving compliments from strangers. The perfume lingers on me for most of the day but surprisingly seems to have renewed strength at night.

If you’re into sweet and citrusy fragrances, this is not the one for you but if you’re looking for a change, a tiny spritz at the counter is a good start.

Tips: Spritz the perfume at a counter first, to make sure it’s your cuppa tea (worth every (s)cent).
