I was really excited to see this in the BBBE box and got Revive, pure essential oils of lime, grapefruit and orange. I love the packaging and the screw lid tin which means you can put it away or take it away with you. The citrus scent smelled divine and I was really excited to use it. But I was so very disappointed. Once the wick was lit though, there was no sign of the lovely fragrant smell that wafted when it was unlit. I waited and waited but all I got was a waxy smell and nothing more. So disappointed that it didn't live up to my expectations, I definitely won't be buying this again.

I love that this candle is fragranced with essential oils, however, the scent is hardly there. I had high hopes for this candle but I was disappointed that you could hardly smell it at all. I have this candle in revive which is meant to smell like lime, orange and grapefruit. The citrus scents are very light and fresh, and combine to give a lovely scent. I can only really smell this when I bend down to smell the candle though. When it's lit the scent is very weak and doesn't travel well. You can hardly smell it even when you sit right next to it within a metre.
I also love that this candle is made from pure soy wax. This is meant to last longer and have a longer burn time. And so far I think it will last quite a long time. It says it has up to 18 hours of burn time and I expect this candle will last for 18 hours. So far mine has been burning for about 4 hours and looking inside the tin hardly any of the soy wax has disappeared.
This candle comes in a cute little tin, about the size of the old fashioned tins hard boiled sweets used to come in that you used to be able to buy. The tin is a nice size and would be good for traveling as you can screw the lid back on.
Overall I was very disappointed with this candle and will not be repurchasing this.
Didn't enjoy this candle at all - i had the orange, 'revive' one Smelt like i was just burning a plain wax candle and got that waxy smell
I got this beautiful candle in the recent BR vault. I was even more excited to know that it was a pillar candle not just a little one in a tin. I am usually a wax melts in a warmer sort of girl but when this popped its gorgeous head up in the vault, I knew I had to have it!! I mean cmon for 390 of my hard earned points it is soooo worth it!!!
The appearance of the candle is simply quite exquisite. Like I said it's a pillar candle and reminds me of marmalade colour. Upon smelling, I am reminded of a citrus orchard and lemon curd. I am such a huge fan of citrus and anything tangy so this would be right up my alley!
I have never tried Living Light branded candles so didn't have any real expectations. In the past I have been let down by scented candles and am often a little too anxious to leave them going for any long period of time because of the fire risk. I lit it nonetheless and waited for the beautiful citrus to fill my nostrils. I waited and I waited and it never really came. I wanted a punch of scent to hit me but all I got was a huge amount of nothingness!!! To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It now has pride of place in my emergency power outage kit because that's all it is good for now! (SAD FACE)
Tips: If you are expecting a citrus hit or any hit at all, move along this isn't going to fulfill that.
I received one of these in the Best beauty box ever, I am a big candle fan so getting another candle to add to my collection makes me so happy! I received Revive which has a citrus scent of Orange, grapefruit and lime, combined they smell so refreshing and really open up your senses. The smell of this candle really boosts your mood!
It comes in a beautiful tin, which I have never seen before and a twist lid, I like the idea of being able to carry this in my bag and travel with this.
As much as I love the scent of this candle, when its lit, it doesn't travel very far. The fragrance is very light unless you're up close to the candle.
Overall I wont be purchasing this candle in the future unless the scent is made stronger.
I got the travel size tin of this in my Beauty Review box. I've never tried or even heard of this brand before that. I've started being more of a candle person so it was definitely something I was looking forward to trying out.
The packaging of this is quite unique, to me. All my other candles are in glass jars but this one is in a little tin. I really like how it looks, almost rustic I guess. This has orange labelling, orange always screams citrus to me so I think this colour is the perfect choice.
The scent of this is very much as described. It smells slightly herbal, but definitely has the sweet orange sweet overtop of that. It smells nice before it is lit and when it is lit, it scents up my room nicely and within the first hour or so which I think is pretty good.
The big downside to me, came just now actually. I had it burning this morning (after using about half of it previously), and I noticed it had gone out. The wick had fallen over and won't support itself so it had gone back into the wax and went out. I have no way of making this stand on it's own again so sadly this candle is done for me. I did enjoy the scent while I was using it but I wouldn't go out and purchase this because I would hate for that to happen again.
I received this as part of the NZ Brands Beauty Box. I have to admit I am not one for burning scented candles, I prefer incense.
The scent I received was Pohutukawa. Upon opening the cute little tin, with pink patterning, I could small the scent immediately. It is a sweet, subtle scent, and is not overpowering. It reminded me of pomegranate, which I like.
The candle burnt well, although the wick was a little short which made it a bit tricky to light. The flame was slow and steady, and there was plenty of candle left after an hour. The tin was warm, but certainly not too hot to handle while the candle was burning.
Tips: The scent given off was very subtle. You have to stick your nose quite close to the candle to detect the scent, which may make it too subtle for those seeking a stronger smelling candle.
Ok this little candle is amazing, I received the Pohutukawa scented candle in the NZ brands BBBE, as much as I love beauty products I think this is an awesome addition to the beauty box.
This comes in a small silver tin with a screw top lid it has a red coloured label on it that matches in with the tin and red flowers from a Pohutukawa tree.
The scent reads citrus, berries and spice and this is exactly what it is, especially the berries and spice. It says on the tin 18 hours burn time. Well I have had this going 18 hours and I'm pretty sure I could easily squeeze another 5 hours out.
After an hour of burn time I get a berry and spice scent lingering in the kitchen. We have a rather large kitchen and dining area so it can take a while for a scented candle to come to life. The scent isn't overly strong or overpowering it's quite mellow, I do prefer stronger scents so this might be perfect if unlike me, you prefer the not so strong scents. I really do adore the scent but just wish it was a tad stronger. It lingers in the room for about 30 minutes after I stop burning it.
A lovely candle but unsure if I will repurchase.
I always walk past small candles, votives or tea lights because in the past, the ones I've purchased have been utterly disappointing because they lacked fragrance. I have used two of these candles in the past from Beautiful Christmas New Zealand box and Best Beauty Box Ever box respectively.
I haven't come across many candles in a tin so I think the packaging is pretty cool and creative. It's compact so it's easy to take traveling where you can just close it up (once the wax has solidified) and pop it into your bag ready to light at the next destination.
You don't need to trim the wick on this (thank goodness) so it really is a "purchase-and-light" kind of candle. However once the wax is fully liquid the flame does come up pretty high which can be a bit of a hazard so you'll need to be mindful of where this is placed. Fragrance aside the main thing I was looking for was whether or not this burned evenly. I really HATE having to maintain a candle that needs constant attention.
I'm happy to say this has a good burn to it where the wax pools evenly around the wick. The tin is not hot to touch within the hour, it's just warm but any longer than that I wouldn't recommend touching it or carrying it around to a different location while burning because the wax might spill over and that's just asking for medical attention.
I let it burn for an hour in a small room and found the fragrance travelled well but due to size I don't think it's ideal to light a big room, you'd probably need more than 2 or 3 to create a relaxing and calm ambiance.
I have the fragrance 'Kitchen' which is amazing. I initially thought it was a lime scent coming through but it's actually lemongrass. Don't get it confused with the kind of overpowering lemongrass you detect in some cuisine this is more of a refreshing take on it. I would recommend this candle for traveling but for rooms in the house I still prefer to use larger candles that last longer.
I love scented products and use plug-ins, candles, and incense, all the time. I hadn’t tried a Living Light candle though, so was excited to see this one in the BBBE. It is Revive Come Alive Butterfly.
It comes in an awesome little tin. On opening it, there came a strong citrus smell which scented my bedroom over a few days. I love citrus so that made me happy.
The candle is easy to light and just sit somewhere in its tin. I chose to burn it in my lounge as I’m usually in there. It is a medium sized room.
I sit the tin inside its lid so it doesn’t get too hot on the bottom.
Sadly, the strong citrus scent isn’t so easily detectable once the candle is lit. There is still a scent, but it is quite subtle and smells more like generic-burning-candle than citrus.
I think if I were to repurchase, I would leave the open tin on my duchess where it was, and not light it, as the scent is stronger that way.
Weight for weight, I think I’ll stick with incense and cheaper candles, as they give a stronger smell for a longer period, for much less cost.
