Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Review

I'm very picky about fragrances I have just a few brands I really love. YSL fragrance cost quite a few thousand pretty pennies but when you sniff them or try them on you'll know why. Now I'm not a big fan of the original YSL Opium, I tried it on and it really smelt strong and dated. But Black Opium... is completely different. It combines floral notes and coffee, coffee I've never come across a fragrance with coffee notes before. But it smells gorgeous, sophisticated, glamorous, expensive! And the lasting power... oh you are getting your money's worth in terms of that! One spritz and you smell delicious and sophisticated for 6 hours. This is a stronger perfume but it's not a heavy suffocating scent. I would say it's more of an evening perfume...unless you work in an environment where you're wearing a full tailored suit...at least that's the picture I get. The bottle is pretty black and sparkly with the pink fragrance in the center and the lid stays on nicely. If you like the scent of coffee and white florals you may really like this.

This perfume, as much as I don't want to tell the world, is absolutely delicious. You never give away your signature scent and this is that scent for me. I always get complimented when wearing this perfume. I'l never get tired of this perfume. Once you spray with this perfume it will last forever until you wash whatever it is you sprayed. Definitely worth the money.

This perfume is aptly named, as I'm absolutely hooked on it right now. It's not exactly the cheapest thing, so I searched hard for any similar scents before giving in and splurging on a 90ml bottle. It's an interesting bottle design, with the sparkly black flask shape and two round glass panels on each side. It's helpful to see how much is remaining once you get down to the level of the glass.

This is really like no other, it's a beautiful blend of sweet marshmellows and delicious coffee. I don't get much floral from this but this is super sophisticated. Honestly one of the few perfumes that suits every occasion and age. It's strong when sprayed, but not overpowering. It's like more people around you can smell it, but the person standing next to you won't find it annoyingly strong. As it wears, the coffee fades out but the sweetness remains. This is extremely long lasting, when I spray it on a scarf or coat I can often smell it days later.

This bottle should last me a fair while, but when it runs out I'll definitely be repurchasing.

The first time I smelt this fragrance, I was hooked! I was addicted and so I bought it. This fragrance comes in a pretty black box. The bottle is gorgeous! Its black, glittery and I love the design with the see through part in the middle, where you can see your perfume and how much is left in the bottle. I only got a small one, but I must say, you only need 1-2 sprays and the scent stays on you all day. The scent is sweet, like vanilla mixed with flowers, but something that you could wear day and night. It is so magnetic, I would definitely recommend and buy again.

Gorgeous bottle and scent! as a lover of the original opium I was begging to trial this! heard amazing things and this does live up to it's hype! its sweet yet strong and could be worn at any age in any weather. Its a cosy and warm scent that everyone will love. Its super long-lasting and draws in many compliments - my only issue is at times everyone I know is wearing this and this is the only scent I can smell which makes it feel a bit less unique and special. But this would be a perfect gift for anyone as its a gorgeous scent.

My new favourite perfume! I smelled this scent on someone and bought myself a bottle because it smells so amazing. I get so many compliments on it and I really enjoy wearing it.

I love this perfume! It is unique and exotic without being over powering. The chocolate and coffee hints make it alluring - one of the best!

Black Opium has long been one of my favourite scents. It should first be noted that if you already have YSL Opium, this is VERY different. Opium is woody and smokey, but Black Opium is sweet and fruity.

The packaging is pretty, and and I like the colour combo they have used of black and pink.

The first few times I used this I loved it so much that I layered on a thick dose all over my body, hair and clothes. But then I started smelling it on other women who had also taken the same YOLO approach and drenched themselves this already very strong perfume. It made me realise that the sweetness of vanilla, fruit (raspberry? strawberry?) and floral notes can actually be quite nauseating. The sickly sweetness thus makes the wearer seem like a 13 year old girl spraying Impulse throughout a confined space.

So. The trick is to only use a 2 spritzes, and trust that the sweet top notes will remain present for a long time before the woody base notes come out.

I have a love hate relationship with this perfume, when i first bought it i did not like smell at all! Probably because i do not like coffee and when i used it, it was very strong and bitter when first applied and on my skin i got more of the coffee notes. However i noticed when it dried down it had more of the sweet notes to it. On my skin the lasting power is roughly 4 hours so i did have to keep reapplying and i had EDP I kept using it to use it up and it grew on me and i did get compliments even from my brother! I believe this is one you ever love or hate. If i repurchased i would use sparingly as i do like it now. Also i would get a tester first to see if it's what you like before spending alot on a perfume you don't like
